Anne the owner is one of those people that can connect with anyone right away, she greeted us at the door and showed us our room, explained the little things, and of course most importantly, asked what we wanted for breakfast the next morning. Our room was very nice, big windows with plenty of light, lots of closet space and a comfy bed. Our view was of the backyard if you will, with lots of greens that I just don't see very often back home. Even though the bathroom is not en-suite, it is very clean and pretty. The standing glass shower is probably the tiniest shower I have ever been in though. My husband at pretty bad allergies (hay fever) during our stay, and Anne kindly provided what suitable meds she had. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay, and almost forgot to mention that the breakfast is superb.

For only about US $200 a night (average, April prices, booked through hotels.com) it was all ours for two nights. Full kitchen, living room, full bath, and two bedrooms. There was a washer/dryer combo unit in our kitchen, tea and coffee on the boil all day long downstairs, and free washing soap for the laundry. Continental breakfast in the mornings was somewhere between decent and decadent, depending on your view. I ordered gluten-free toast and got about four servings worth. Ordered tea and got a pot big enough for 2-4 people. Only complaint is the beds are quite small. If you are used to sharing a double bed with your spouse it might not be so bad, but when you are used to a King size bed, expect it to feel a little cramped.

Booking was easy online and 10 minutes later I was checked in. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly and I was offered to wait in the lounge with a cup of tea whilst I waited for someone to carry my bags to my room. I didn't realise there are actually a whole bunch of apartments adjacent to each other, also some scattered across the road. I was staying towards the back of the apartments on the second level (no elevators) so the assistance was appreciated. The accommodation itself was more than enough for one person. The executive apartment featured a bedroom, bathroom, lounge room and small kitchen with everything you'd need to create a home cooked meal. Given the late hour and duration of my stay I don't think I got to truly appreciate the space available, but nonetheless was impressed. Bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains are effective. I've given one less star because the walls are thin, and as I was falling asleep I could hear people trudging up the stairs, getting into the room above mine and I fell asleep to the sound of their muffled conversation. Breakfast is included and is a decent spread. Ample space in the dining room too. Overall a good experience, just might ask for a top floor apartment next time.

Two had a terrace and one was on the upper floor. The rooms were very spacious, well decorated, and cozy. I appreciated the bottles of water, warm towels, and excellent food. Hotel staff were attentive and cheerful. The location on the River Dee was great, with excellent views. I saw several fish jump, and the fly fishermen were out each day. Upscale yet not pretentious. I would absolutely return. My only recommendation would be to add mini refrigerators to the rooms.

Excellent food all around from breakfast to room service, to the dining in the evening. Couldn't recommend the restaurant enough or the multiple dining area options. And most importantly; the staff and people that run Banchory are second to none. The service was amazing at every level! So very attentive, respectful, incredibly friendly, helpful, personable, and knowledgable. We had our wedding reception at Banchory and Scott and his team accommodated every request throughout the week and always went above and beyond. I couldn't recommend staying here highly enough or having your event/party/celebration with the team at Banchory. You won't be disappointed!

The DoubleTree Hilton is located at the beach front in Aberdeen and of such it's a good location…read morefor a starting a walk along the wonderful Esplanade of Aberdeen Town. You are also not far from the centre and only 10 min walk from the train station. The hotel has free parking, which seems to be hard to get in Aberdeen town centre. There are two buildings, the Hilton with the normal and premier rooms and the Platinum building, which is supposed to home the better and larger rooms. Well, the TVs are definitely large, no doubt here. Complimentary are the bathrope, the slippers and the small choice of soft drinks. You can choose to pay a small surcharge and might even get a room with a sea view (if you can call it that :-)). However, the rooms are already dear as it is. The hotel is located beside a busy road, but you can't hear the traffic. Also nearby is an ASDA, which I can definitely recommend as the room service food is less than desirable and very, very expensive with a surcharge of £5 for the room service. I had ordered a mushrooms soup and a fruit salad. Whilst the soup was served hot and was acceptable taste wise, the fruit salad was quite a disappointment. It felt like they cut up the last pieces of fruits that they could find in the kitchen topped with a scoop of fruit sorbet. In the bath I could see dark hairs spread all over it and I asked for the bath to be cleaned properly. I also asked for peppermint tea, as apparently this is not part of a general tea assortment. Overall the staff was always very friendly and attentive. All the staff is international. Breakfast is served until 11 on a weekend what is great! The assortment on hot and cold breakfast food selection is great. Lots of choice! There also is a gym, a bar and a restaurant. The reception staff is very polite and the front desk is covered 24hs. The roof in my room looked a bit dodgy at some places and some of the furnishings would need an uplift. What I liked nevertheless was the massive bed in which easily 3 people could sleep in :-) Would I be back to this hotel? Maybe.

Front desk staff don't care about guest frustrations nor requests. The front desk staff's negative attitude toward guest's questions was a real turn off. We stayed in a room with twin beds and the springs in one of the beds were clearly worn out and broken making it impossible to sleep. The included breakfast was good and had a nice selection; this is the only positive thing I can say about the hotel. Molly's restaurant, which is attached to the hotel, is mediocre at best. If you're looking for a good, customer-friendly hotel, don't stay here!

It was a delight to find this olde-world hotel set into yet another of Aberdeen's granite streets, this one between a casino and the entrance to the harbour. So, the setting may be less than family-friendly, but the building is like a traditional railway hotel. Dark wood and odd angles abound. The staff were friendly, and everything was clean and functional, if a bit tired looking. There is a reasonably sized ballroom complete with wooden dance floor - and conference facilities. One disorienting thing, a tiny niggle, is the weirdly striped seventies carpet on the lower level, which make the frequent 2 to 3 step level changes tricky. Remember, I did not stay in any of the rooms, so I cannot comment on that side of things. Overall, the hotel is very conveniently located for the city centre, the railway station and the harbour. It's not glass-and-chrome modern, but seems adequate, within the limits of my experience, and has useful things like wi-fi (password from the hotel).

The hotel is in a great location in Aberdeen as the street itself is really quiet, but it is less than a 10 minute walk to interesting bars/cafes and restaurants. We checked in without any hassles and went to drop our bags off to our room as we were running late for dinner. Our room was lovely - an apartment with separate bedroom and bathroom and living area. I had a great night sleep the first and second night (driving for 6 hours and then walking 6 miles was a help) although I didn't think the mattress was even - we think perhaps there was a bit of a lump in it as we both woke up with sore backs in the morning. The shower was a little difficult to use and the shower head actually fell on the ground and part of it broke off the first morning. Thankfully they got it sorted out for us while we were out that day. The only reason this was 4 stars rather than 5 is the breakfast. This was included in our room rate (continental only, cooked was charged per item) so we headed down around 10am on Saturday to eat. The room felt like something from a business conference. I wasn't very impressed with the continental offerings and it was mostly gone, even though breakfast didn't finish until 10.30. I tried to order a cooked breakfast for a good 10 minutes but there wasn't any staff around, so I was getting a little frustrated. I finally managed to order poached eggs on toast. We also asked for toast for the table but that never arrived. The poached eggs themselves were fine, but just not what I was hoping to start the day with. The next day we decided to skip the breakfast altogether and go somewhere else instead. Apart from the breakfast, we enjoyed our stay here and I'd return here to stay again. Other positives are that there's a private carpark at the rear of the hotel which is free, so you don't have to worry about street parking or paying. All the staff we encountered were friendly and the place overall was very clean and tidy.

Wifi isnt free which is annoying Overall the hotel is as standard as it gets nothing exceptional but the price is fair and convenience is high for those visiting petrofac or the Shell offices which are just down the hill.
