We recently spend a long weekend at Bay View Campground and had a great time. The campsites are large and somewhat secluded from each other. Some of the campsites back right up to the beach and Lake Superior. For those that don't, it just a quick one or two minute walk to get there. We stayed at campsite number 20 and it had a great maybe 50 foot path to the beach. Each night we fell asleep to the relaxing noise of waves crashing onto the shore. The beach at the campground is really nice and you can walk for over a mile in each direction. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit. The campground has bathrooms with toilets, but it does not have running water. The bathrooms were very clean and the whole campground was really well maintained. This used to be one of my favorite campsites, but it will go on the list to check back on in the future. The current host is unhelpful, unkind, and at times overbearing. Too bad, as Bay View's natural geologic beauty is tremendous. But under the current host, the camping experience is unwelcoming. read more

There are some great features, If you can get a site with beach entry. On the plus side, the restrooms are well kept and managed. On the negative side, the camp hosts ignore the policy for noise. The woman who seems to be the main host holes up in her RV by 10 pm, and never comes out again, leaving the vast majority of the loud talkers and party campers undisturbed. Clearly her RV is well insulated; sadly we got sleep on 1 of the 4 nights we were there. She also seems to have little regard for the reservation system. She gave away our reserved site on the pretense that a trailer could not fit in the drive (which was complete balderdash) when in fact the folks in the trailer said they asked to be moved because they did not want to be near the restrooms. Nevermind the fact that 1) we reserved the site we did because we didn't want to be tent camping behind the restrooms and 2) the folks in the trailer knew the dimensions of the site when they reserved it by the restroom. Camp host was either lying to us, or being lied to. Still, reservations exist for a reason. Thus, Would highly suggest that anyone camping at these grounds insist, upon reservation and arrival, that she not change your spot! She said she called us en route, and since we didn't answer she gave it away. Who does that? Not cool to change a reservation, given that people choose their spot weeks in advance. We've not encountered hosts that ignore the noise or change campsite reservations before at National Forests; this is not the norm. As for the location, good overall. Nice bay. read more

Beautiful spacious wooded campsites, many on Lake Superior. Dry camping but water is available and very relaxing atmosphere. We are full timers and this was probably the cleanest and most well managed campground we have ever stayed in anywhere. The hosts were meticulous about keeping everything orderly, clean and guests having a pleasant experience. Look forward to returning. read more

This place sucks. No hot water for 3 days. Fuzzy cable even after 3 maintenance calls (which nobody has shown up for). Stand propane tank rate not charged by the gallon. $1200 for two weeks for here is highway robbery. An extra $5 per night for a second vehicle? Really? And visitors? Haha $14 each plus the $5 vehicle fee. What a joke. Bourne scenic is a much better deal for less than $400 for two weeks over this dump. Never again..... read more
