Any "one" person can make an entire business fail it's customers from the get go! That is what Baylor Scott & White Surgicare accomplished back in August 2025 - a total failure in customer satisfaction. I have worked in health care for 42 years with the last 30 years in Hospital Administration here in the Fort Worth hospital district. I have been a patient at Baylor Scott & White at their various locations throughout the years with no issues - only accolades. I was scheduled for my 10 year colonoscopy at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare on August 2025 at 6:30AM. The day before my scheduled procedure, I confirmed with my insurance provider that there would be no out-of-pocket monies require. When I arrived at Baylor Scott & White at 5:45AM for my scheduled procedure at 6:30AM. I was called to see the admission person to finalize all my on-line paperwork. After finalizing my paper work the admissions person told me I needed to pay $891.00 out-of-pocket monies. I told her I check with my insurance provider yesterday and was told that I would have no out-of-pocket monies required for this procedure. The admission person told me that she would get her office manager, Rhonda to verify it. The next thing I hear is a woman say, "No, you need to pay $891.00 dollars for your colonoscopy procedure today". "If you don't want to pay we will cancel your procedure for today". I said, who are you. She said, I'm Rhonda, the office manager and I have verified your cost for today's procedure. I explained that I had contacted my insurance provide yesterday and they told me there was no out-of-pocket cost for me today. She stood there with her arms crossed and a facial expression that emmited the question, "What part of stupid do you not understand?" I handed the admission person may credit card and paid the $891.00. Within minutes, I was headed to the surgical area where the doctors and staff were wonderful. I contacted my insurance provider the next day and explained about why I paid $891.00. Again, they said I should not have been required to pay. My insurace provider said, lets wait until the claim is summitted and review again. Ten days later my claim is submittted and paid in full by my insurance provider. My insurance provider made several attempts to contact the office manager with no avail - only to leave voice messaged telling her they owed me $891.00. Well, now with more than 45 days since my procedure, I was contacted by the office manager. She let me know it was going to be another 4 to 6 weeks before I would receive a $891.00 refund check in the mail. I'm lucky to afford to tie up almost a $1,000.00 dollars for three months while many are not. My thoughts are very simple. Don't let one person take down an entire business - Baylor Scott & White knows better. My hopes are this failure in customer service is made into a system KPI in the upcoming months. Every single person, from front desk, to registration, to paying, to surgery prep, to the anesthesia team, to after care, absolutely PHENOMENAL.. The moment I checked in, front desk was very understanding of my anxiety, told me she understood, but "we got you!!" The registration/admission was an easy process, snd she was also super sweet.. The nurse that greeted me to take me to surgery prep was SO sweet and helped me through all my nerves, even held my hand while another nurse put in my IV - who also did a fantastic job, literally ZERO pain, and no bruising, after.. The anesthesia doctor and nurse came by, explained everything in detail, made sure I had every question answered, again held my hand while comforting my nerves, and were also so incredibly sweet.. After surgery, when I started to wake up, the nurse was nice, immediately offered to go get my family member for my comfort, even played with my hair a little to comfort my nausea, and she immediately gave me a dose of pain medicine to help.. she stuck around, watched me eat some crackers, and drink, made sure I could use the restroom, and then helped me dress when it was time to go home.. So grateful to tears for an amazing experience - every single person made everything so easy and comfortable - I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH WONDERFUL THINGS.. They treat you like you'd want to be treated, how you'd want your grandmother to be treated.. I hope to never need surgery, again, but I sure hope if I do, or anyone does, it's HERE.. read more

Had a procedure scheduled for weeks, and right at the last possible second they canceled my surgery (like paperwork filled out and they were starting the prep work). Stating I'm too fat to safely be operated on, at least everybody was super cool about it. I've never been discriminated against in such a kind and caring way. The pre-op nurse and Dr. Patel made the whole process easy, I didn't feel like getting cut on right then and there anyway. read more

I have nothing to bad to say about the nursing staff and doctors at the center, they are all very good. However, I cannot say the same for the billing department. I had eye surgery on April 9, 2025. At the day of surgery, Rhonda in billing, told me I would need to pay $4300 toward the surgery because my deductible had not been met. I understand that, but when all the claims to the surgeon, anesthesia and surgery center were completed, the amount I actually owed the center was $2699. When I called the center about a refund for the difference, I was told that an appeal was being filled to insurance because they didn't pay enough and they would not issue me a refund until this was settled. Also, they had 6 months to appeal. Well, 6 months later, all claims have been completed and closed. The surgery center still owes me a refund of $1842. I have made numerous calls to Rhonda which mostly go to voicemail without a return phone call. On the 2 occasions that I actually reached Rhonda, she told me my refund was being reviewed and to call back in 2 days to see what the status was. And repeat. Once again, I can't reach her and no return calls. It's been 7 months. I just want to know when I can expect my money. This is an ongoing spiral of agony. read more

Appointment was for sinus surgery @ Baylor Scott & White Surgicare at Fort Worth TX. Appointment time was 1:30. I arrived at 11:30 and by 12:00 they checked me into the pre-op room. During the next 30 minutes I was made comfortable by a nurse named Mary and hooked up with an I.V. I spoke with the Anastasia doctor and that was the last time anyone checked on me until 4:30. That's 3 hours without seeing anyone from the medical staff & my headaches got worse, blood sugar dropped, my back issues began to surface, and I was freezing cold. At about 4:30 they took me to the operating room, and they were running very late. Before the Anastasia was given, I ask the doctor to explain what was about to happen during surgery, but he didn't have time to explain. He told me that I could go ahead with the surgery or I could cancel and reschedule for another day. I was told during pre-op that the Anastasia could take up to 1 1/2 hours to recover and then they could release me. The gave me 30 minutes and wheeled me to the front door even though I had headaches, nausea and couldn't even sit up without assistance. The nurse in the recovery room kept looking at her watch, I think everyone was ready to go home for the weekend. They were in a huge hurry and had little concern for their patient's welfare. read more

It is extremely rare to visit a place of business such as Baylor Scott & White Surgicare twice in eight months and both times be absolutely blown away by the care, concern, professionalism and friendliness of every single employee that we dealt with. From the minute we walked through the door and were greeted by the little lady to our discharge, I honestly don't believe anyone could have been friendlier and more courteous. At most businesses there's at least one person having a bad day and not 100% friendly - but that is not the case on both of our visits here. Honestly, their employees could give a seminar on how to treat customers. They have it perfected. Our thanks to every single staff person we had dealings with. In hindsight, I wish I had jotted down the name of each person so we could praise them personally. Obviously if you're at a surgical center it's not a great day for you, but thanks to these employees we left there totally impressed with our medical treatment...and how we were treated personally. read more

Bizarre experience. Arrival time was 1pm and was not taken back until after 3pm. The nurse named Dan told me that 'this place is like the military- hurry up and wait. We don't want to hear your complaints.' I had not even complained. Just weird. The anesthesiologist called one of the CRNAs 'low IQ with experience.' Gave me zero confidence in him and felt sorry for the CRNA. It was very clear they do not care about patients, just their money and their own time. I paid 3k out of pocket for this surgery and was treated as if they were doing me a favor. I think most medical in Tarrant county is very poor quality. Dallas is far superior. Seek care on the east side. Being from LA, I can tell you for certain that places like this would never survive on the coasts other than in a Medicaid clinic. They will likely respond to this asking to contact their office but there is no point. The employees at this facility do not take their jobs seriously and that is scary when undergoing an invasive procedure. I have owned healthcare businesses previously and would be ashamed if any patient had ever been treated this way by my staff. read more

The Baylor Scott and White Surgical Center was absolutely the worst. Our family has been to several such centers and this was a total disaster. Stay away. Not only were they running late, they did not communicate and their attitude was take it or leave it. So we left and I am rescheduling surgery with a different doctor and a different surgical center. By 3 pm they still had not called me back to pre-op, so they were either going to cancel or perform surgery with a doctor who had been there since 6:30 am. No option was good. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with the care I received at Baylor Surgicare yesterday. Everyone was very professional, but extremely caring and comforting. The RN that put in my IV did a superior job. Clean facility, organized registration, and excellent communication with family members in the waiting area while I was back in surgery area. Top notch care by nursing staff - in fact my RN had me as her only patient. Maybe it was a slow day. Excellent care prior to and immediately after surgery. I remained in an holding area since my doctor wanted me observed overnight. Not as impressed with these overnight nurses as they were rarely seen. I'm not sure why, as I was the only patient that stayed overnight that evening. Overall, I felt I had better care in this facility than I would the hospital. I scheduled surgery SIX WEEKS in advance and completed the online registration process that same day. Five weeks later, I hadn't heard from anyone regarding the amount I needed to pay the day of surgery. One week before my surgery, I left a phone message for Christine Shaw in the insurance department at Baylor Surgicare to find out how much I would have to pay on the day of surgery. Two days later I was still waiting for a return call, so I called again and spoke to someone else in the insurance department who told me they were "very busy with a large caseload" and Christine was especially busy because she was about to go out on maternity leave. They were able to give me an amount for my copay (they expect people to come up with $3,000 three days before surgery!) and transferred me to a scheduling nurse who told me on Friday to report for surgery at 6:00 am the next Tuesday. Then another nurse called me at 3:00 Monday afternoon to say my surgery time was changed to 1:00 Tuesday!! They said it was changed by my doctor's office and that I needed to call them to discuss it. Then my doctor's office told me it was changed by Baylor Surgicare so I needed to contact them! All of this frustration has occurred before I have even shown up for surgery tomorrow!! I've had a few surgeries in the past, but I've never been treated as if I was the most important person in the world. From the time I arrived, until the time I was released, these people made me feel like I was a VIP and went out of their way to make me comfortable and at ease. They placed a nurse at the foot of my bed and she stayed with me the entire time. If I had any questions, she was right there! No bell to ring! Everyone from the doctor (Dr. Fewins) to the anesthesiologist made a stop at my cubical to ask if I was comfortable and if I had any questions. They then asked my son if HE had any questions! The facility itself was very clean and organized. There is a TV screen in the waiting room with live updates on your procedure so family members know whats going on. When I came out of surgery, I had a headache. The nurse immediately got a cold wash rag and placed it on my head. I cannot say enough good things about these people. I'm going to have another surgery next month. Is it normal to look forward to something like that? read more
