Baynes Army Store has been serving Milledgeville since 1952. I use to come here a lot as a teenager to hold and dream of one day owning the guns they have racked here. I loved how back then I could walk in, pick up a rifle, and point it through the store to look the scope. Wishing I had the money for it back then, but knowing I could not afford it. Then I grew up and as I did so did the prices of said guns; so just like the teen me I can only dream to have enough money one day to buy the rifles that I like. However, I have purchased a couple of fine quality shotguns from Baynes and they lasted quite a few years before I sold them or just stopped using them. I was never a hunter, just liked to shoot. Which is another reason as a teen Baynes was so great; they had their own members only rifle range out near the Walter B. Williams Park and I was lucky that my parents purchased me a membership. Shooting guns with my father was always a great outing for us. But Baynes is so very much more than just guns. They have knives too. lol.. No seriously, they carry everything from clothing, to camping equipment, to hunting supplies, to fishing supplies, and everything in between. Baynes Army Store, what a neat place! I've been a regular customer for over twenty years. I visit gun stores and attend gun shows throughout the state and Baynes consistantly has the best price of any. They always carry safe, high quality firearms, NOT cheap saturday night special or pawn shop junk. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the items in the store and not the usual wise a-s pseudo gun experts that work in so many gun shops. There always seems to be some real jewel amongst the many guns on display, which makes a monthly visit a sort of treaure hunt. Bayne and Randy run a great old timey, friendly, down home gun and outdoor gear store. Corney as it sounds, Baynes is kinda like a Norman Rockwell American painting. read more
