Absolutely horrible. Non stop issues with subpar workmanship. Within a few years you could tell how poor of a job was done. Silicone in every seam that now shrunk to make up for the inability to properly do trim work. HVAC when doing their pre and post inspection found improperly hung drops with no crawlspace or attic access (which is required) to service vents as well as large hot spots where not enough insulation was installed. Not to mention our electrician found not one but two outlets installed under the house!!? One they could say would have been for the convenience of an outdoor outlet.. except they were not gounded properly causing the bathroom outlets to trip. Doors were all hung improperly and not square as we found out with minimal settling and installing new glass high end doors. We couldn't even go prehung based on how badly they framed the openings. Mismatched tiles and crooked outlets "fixed" with drywall tape and spackle. Outlets placed underneath window sills. A/c burning up twice within 6 years of ownership that lead to us having to just replace the entire unit due to them undersizing the one installed and improper placement of drops. ...The list goes on and on. Purchased a home from them. Over the course of a few years. We've had the following: Outside A/C unit not working. Outlets trip on a weekly basis. Vinyl flooring coming undone at almost all the seams. Not enough vent drops and causing hot spots in the rooms from using too small of ducting. Cabinet doors being mis hung and not to mention doors being hung incorrectly and either dragging or not closing properly. Many of these issues could have been corrected but they would always send someone out who would half fix and issue would still persist, and we just got tired of dealing with them. Sloppy built homes. Go and take a look at how they are being built, and you'll know real quick that you want to avoid these people like the plague. Also, don't let the owner try to convince you that he's an architect. All he is is a draftsman ... and not a very good one at that. read more

At Bayou State Homes, we know success is not guaranteed. But we take our task seriously and strive for excellence, not just because customers demand it, but because doing so provide us with the dual rewards of a prosperous business and personal joy in our work. Bayou State Homes are The Leaders in Hurricane Resistant Construction and Economically priced homes. We do our best to custom design the best home for you at the best price. We move our homes in one piece up to 100 miles around Eunice, La. and build within 40 miles of Eunice in most cases. We build wood frame on piers, and brick on slabs. We also do light commercial construction like Doctor's or medical profession's offices, small restaurants, beauty salons, clinics, office buildings and more.

History

Established in 1963.

Our business was started by Newton P Thibodeaux in order to build affordable homes throughout the Acadiana area. Many of our homes are built on our lot in Eunice and transported in a finished state, in one piece to the customers lot. This system of construction keeps the construction cost and financing down and increases our market where we have developed buying power by having a high volume of purchases. We build 20 to 40 homes a year and average about 8 homes being built at one time. We have many plans to choose from or will custom design you a home. Quality and affordable have come together at Bayou State Homes, Inc.

I am a graduate with a bachelor's degree in Architecture from LSU. Have worked for Construction companies, architects, and engineers. Have been with Bayou State Homes since 1983. The company was started 50 years ago by my father Newton P. Thibodeaux and has built over 2000 homes during it's lifetime.

A degree in Architecture from LSU and 40 years of residential and light commercial design experience; over 2000 homes with satisfied customers should prove that Chip Thibodeaux is more than a draftsman. And I agree; come look @ our construction. It will sell you. We service what we sell. There are some people out there that will try and hurt our reputation but once you visit and see it will be obvious that these 2 bad reviews are from people who did not care for there home properly or are mad at us for taking business away from them. Whatever the reason if we get only 2 bad reviews in over 50 years of building homes I would say we are doing pretty good. read more
