This place was great! Our server Sal was incredibly responsive and pleasant. We got the pretzels with smoked Gouda and those were amazing. My husband had the Bayside Burger with fries with house seasoning. The fries were SO good- hot and fresh. No complaints on the burger. I had the jerk chicken wrap with grilled chicken. My only complaint is that it really needed more chicken, it was mostly lettuce. I was advised to add jalapeños to the wrap for an extra kick and I'm glad I did. The flavor on the jerk chicken was great. Finished with a slice of banana cream pie which was good. Would definitely come back. read more

Went to bayside for Saturday dinner around 8 pm and had a wonderful time. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant at this time and our server and the bartender were both very kind and took great care of us. We ordered a blueberry vanilla dirty soda, the shrimp appetizer basket, the ahi tuna with mashed potatoes, and the 10 oz Kansas City steak with mushrooms and a loaded baked potato. Both entrees also came with a side salad which was a pleasant surprise! All of our food was delicious and fresh and came very quickly. The bar has festive holiday decorations currently and was a nice calm ambiance. Will definitely be back in the future! read more

This was the kind of first-time visit that makes us want to go back for more! We made a spontaneous visit at 5pm on a Friday and lucked out to get a seat on the patio. Molly was our server, and she was fantastic--very busy, but we were never left lacking. I had cider while my husband had a beer. The menu has a broad selection of items, but we were drawn to the same thing on this visit--the fried walleye. I ordered it with side salad and rice pilaf, while my husband ordered an extra filet and with fries on the side. For an appetizer, we had fried cheese curds, and they were fantastic. It is a bar along the river so the ambiance is not fancy, but a more relaxing and fun scene. Do have an option to eat outdoors if you want. We didn't think the prices were bad either. Nice bar / restaurant with excellent food and staff. The place was packed on a Tuesday night yet the waitstaff kept things moving. Mary our waitress was fun, attentive and super helpful. The menu had plenty of offerings. The broiled walleye was perfect. And being able to sit outside on the patio and taking in the breeze made it even more a great experience. I wasn't impressed. There was flies we had to shoo off from start to finish. The Beast Burger with Bison/Elk/Boar was good. But the potato soup was too salty, Arnold Palmer was weak, and the grilled cheese had too much mayo. I mean, who puts mayo on a grilled cheese anyway?! The biggest gripe was that I came here thinking it was a steakhouse, says so in the name, but unless you want steak on a stick you won't get a real steak here. read more

Bayside offers good food and good service near the scenic Mississippi River. After a crappy experience in Lake City, we drove north and stumbled across the Bayside Tap & Steakhouse. It was 3:00 pm on a Tuesday and it seemed like all of the places we wanted to try in Red Wing (other than fast food) were either just closing or just opening. We got to the Bayside just as they were opening so we tried them out. We were really happy with our choice. The food was awesome. The fresh beef and the house made items we tried were wonderful. The service was also excellent. We ate at the bar and the bartender was great. She offered up some interesting conversation to enjoy with our meal. Stopped in for dinner while in Red Wing for a wedding. We sat inside, but there is an outdoor space and a roof deck. The inside has your 'typical' bar look and feel. There were a good number of people inside having dinner. We sat near a back window where we could see boats on the river and trains passing by. Our waitress was friendly. My husband and I ordered drinks. My margarita was good. His Jack and Coke was weak. Too much ice in both drinks. My son had chicken strips and fries. My husband and I had burgers. The food was good, but nothing special. My husband and I both 'upgraded' for $3 to add fries and coleslaw to our meals. I'd skip the upgrade in the future: Fries and the teeny tiny scoop of coleslaw isn't worth $3. All in all, ok. With a tip, it was $60, which seems like a lot for bar food. We have made Bayside a regular stop for the last few years on our trips through the area. The back, upstairs patio is awesome. The drinks are cold and stiff. The staff is always friendly and fast.
