Before I had a chance to drink the tea the meal was placed in front of me. I noticed something on the plate that I could not identify, so I returned to the counter to make the enquiry. I was informed that The substance was mushy peas. I stated that I neither wanted nor ordered them. (The menu stated 'peas'. I made the assumption the the peas were garden peas.) The counter waitress said that she was happy to remove the substance from my plate. I agreed to this and pointed out that the meal would need to be re-presented as other items of the meal were covered in the substance, and also, could I have garden peas. At this point the owner/proprietor stepped in complaining that I had no reason to complain and that I should make do. I said that I would prefer to have my money back as I was wholly unsatisfied with his service and had not partaken of any of the meal or tea. He became aggressive in his language and made it clear that I had to eat what I was given or go without. I pointed out that he is lawfully obliged to return my money or provide me with a meal to my satisfaction. He barred me from his premises! After nearly two hours searching for a constable without success I eventually found a PCSO who tried in vain to retrieve my money

We went to Honiton to have a look at some lace, only to find the museum closed until Easter and no…read moreother Lace shops in site, so much for Honiton being the Home of Lace :( We then decided to go get a cup of tea and a bite of food, after passing several rather nice looking cafes we decided on the novelty of going to the Milkshake Bar, BIG MISTAKE, we ordered Tea for two, one scrambled Egg on Toast and a Cheeseburger and Fries. After 25 minutes waiting, still with not even the cup of tea, we decided to cancel our order and leave. My husband went to the counter to cancel the order and saw a kitchen area, smaller than my kitchen at home, cooking one meal at a time and fries being cooked one portion at a time. Take a tip from me, DON'T BOTHER GOING here. Out of all the businesses going bust nowadays, this one deserves to. Only down side is the tables outside are for smokers and we sat at the farthest table from the door, but still had the smell of smoke waft in during our breakfast. If you sat either side of the door in the bay windows you may not get affected. Don't let this put you off as when there are no smokers it's fine.
