Unionville tennis club is literally in my backyard. so the location…read moreis fantastic! for me that is. i love this community club. it is a private club but not for profit. it is entirely run by a group of dedicated volunteers most of whom have lived in Unionville all their lives. they spend a crazy number of hours FREE just to keep this club running well and keeping it affordable for all. The early bird membership for adults for the entire season (April to October) is only $120 and no court fee!!! yet, the club has a full time MONITOR to organize and facilitate court booking. They have 9 top-notch courts (4 rebuild last year) and three of them are CLAY courts (green clay). i am so lucky to have accept to this club. they have a tennis pro who is amazing (Andy Sutton) with 20+ years of experience. they offer a lot of organized events (round robins) and doubles. they have teams for all ages as well and their junior teams perform well - usually 1st or 2nd in the region.

There's 4 courts hidden away behind the back end of the parking lot behind a play structure. Because it's a small club hidden away, it's pretty easy to get court time. Cost is pretty cheap for membership and programs. Tried out the junior program on weekends and joined the adult ladder later on and both have been a blast! They also host year end tournaments which is super competitive and fun, but nothing beats the year end bbq when all the members come out to collect their medals! Overall, club is a 10/10 and would recommend to all tennis players and those looking to get into the sport.

When a private lesson spot was given away without warning to another student because "our daughter was a lower priority", Tessa added salt to injury by treating us to a very rude, condescending and disrespectful rant in front of other parents. We were shocked at her uncaring, rude and elitist attitude. After that, we will take our business where we are appreciated and respected. At Tessa Tennis, you will get none of that respect as a customer, unless you happen to be her "priority". This is no reflection of her staff, many of whom are great and there are instructors like Arthur who are truly wonderful and made a big difference. The problem is they are working for the wrong "boss". Shame!

Downstairs is the recreation clubhouse where members can swim, play tennis, and do other leisure activities. There were 4 major rooms in the venue: Bridal changing room - a huge room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready and keep all the belongings here for safety. Ceremony room - super high ceiling, perfect for the wedding ceremony. The venue uses beautiful champagne chiavari chairs. It has an upstairs balcony in the front for great aerial shots, a mini stage, and a small table on the side for signing official documents. Functional room - after the ceremony, we were led to another room for cocktail hour x open bar! The venue staff were serving us delicious h'orderves! I believe my friend picked the most popular 6 items on the list of appetizers and one of them was a Montreal smoked meat station!! #heaven #sogood Main Reception/Banquet Hall - Gorgeous room with lots of windows for natural light :) Fits perfectly if you have 200 guests or so. Although there are pillars but no obstructed view of the centre stage :) The view from the large L shape balcony was very beautiful. We had Chinese styled 10 course meal prepared by Chef from the venue. Not bad :) Two bars opened during the night; all you can drink! The bartender we had on our side was fantastic - he was fast, personable and very funny ;) Another friend of mine actually booked this wedding venue for next year... I guess that really says a lot :) Will be back again next Fall 2018! P.S. The only con was one of my friend's car had a hit and run at the venue's parking lot. Large ceremony room, beautiful gold chairs, great lighting for photos, wonderful service and coordinator, and a great price made the decision really easy. The outside space is just as lovely but our guests stayed indoors as it was hot. We just took some photos outside and had we had the ceremony outside, they had a rain room just in case. The bridal suite was lovely and enough space for me and the girls to get ready. I highly recommend Lino and the team.

I attended one such 'free' clinic/lesson and it is a joke, a complete waste of time. The coach just fed the balls to us and asked all 6 students of which I was one to rotate and play. Never even once had he given any coaching, tips, or guidance. Even when asked, he brushed it off and walked away, on the other hand with one of the students with whom he had taught as private coach before (former and prospective future client), he gave tips twice probably nurturing hope she may hire him again so she never had to rotate while the other students had to. Favouritism and unprofessional. The community is paying for it and as tax players it's not really 'free ' though none of the six students had to fork out money, Perhaps others may have better luck with other coaches. Definitely a downer!

This centre is great! Right in the middle of markham/unionville area, it rests at it's own…read moreintersection, so parking is usually plentiful. (Especially on days of a swim meet or tournament). Pro tip: do NOT park your car at the neighbouring seemingly empty lot- it belongs to ford, and they are NOT friendly neighbours. Your car will get towed without a warning. This community centre is spacious and clean. Everything is easy to find. The gym is gigantic and stretches far beyond my eyes. The pool is 50m, worked by beautiful and hardworking lifeguards (lol just kidding, shameless plug). Both areas have plenty of seating for viewers. The hallways are large and extensive, so don't be afraid to wander around. There's also a fitness centre overlooking the pool. It's kind of small and lame but I rarely see it packed, so I guess it'd be a good idea. It's not great for lifting, but it has a lot of equipment for such a small gym. The regulars are usually older adults, trying to get some exercise in.

The parking and accessibility of it was terrible though, since the walk from the parking lot to the building is far and I can definitely imagine that being inconvenient for some people or even just during the winter season with all the snow and slush. This is a little tennis club off Doris Avenue (closest intersection being Yonge & Sheppard). If I…read moredidn't know better, I would have thought it looks more like a bunch of public courts. There are three courts, which of course are fenced off. The courts are pretty well lit, and though they are fenced off and meshed, if you're sitting outside the fence, you can still see in. The club room is basically a little shed.. Ok a little more than a shed, but it's a small room. Nothing too fancy, change rooms and a bunch of papers posted on the wall. They have a court monitor and apparently are quite strict when it comes to reserving courts. In the summertime, the courts are super busy! The bad thing about the club is that they don't have any electronic or organizing booking system. You basically have to go there, a few hours before you want to play, and try to get a court. If you are a little late, you can lose your spot. A good thing about this club is that there is plenty of free parking. A lot of people park in the tennis court parking lot and then walk through Hollywood Park which is right beside it. I don't know of anyone who's gotten towed, but just be sure not to leave your car there for the whole day. They have tournaments and ladder games in the summertime. A lot of the members have been members of the club for quite some time. If you're looking for a place to play tennis, and you live in the area, check out NY tennis club. I don't think it's too expensive for a membership either, relative to other clubs.
