This process was quite an unpleasant experience, which involved me wasting a lot of my time and having to repay CRA (with interest). Their team of accountants are unaware of the tax rules and regulations, when filing property income/loss. Unfortunately, they do not know how to deal with tax preparation of this nature. It was a waste of time for me to deal with Liberty Tax, since I made multiple trips to their office. All the entries pertaining to rental property had been filled in with various inaccuracies. Specifically, the determination of what is capital gain and what is yearly income/loss was totally miscalculated. My particular case should have been given more attention, given that the individual dealing with my file had minimal experience with such circumstances. It is astonishing that Liberty Tax has no peer check, while dealing with their client's sensitive documents. Such a waste of time it was to deal with this organization, since now the CRA has conducted a re-assessment. This re-assessment requires a return back to the CRA, including interest. The sole purpose of using a tax service, such as Liberty Tax was to avoid making these very mistakes. Turns out that this organization is unable to provide the expected confidence to their clients.
