It was great seeing it from this side, as I've been to the same beach on the US side many times. The beach sand stretches for about 100 meters. The area was peaceful and not crowded, which was probably due to the pandemic restrictions. In fact, when we got to the area, the municipal police told us that the beach area immediately next to the border wall was closed to the public. The boardwalk starts a short distance from the border wall, and south of there, many shops and restaurants. There is a bull fighting ring nearby, and tons of artwork on and around the border wall. Parking is found along the border wall, or in a pay lot. You can also find parking along the street running parallel to all the shops and restaurants, but depending on the day and time, you might have trouble finding a spot. Overall, this place is chill. I got no bad vibes here, and people were very friendly. The only thing that stood out during our time here is that we got to witness some guy crossing the border illegally. He did it in plain sight, in broad daylight, and he got immediately arrested by the border patrol agents that usually sit nearby this place. There were tons of people taking photos and videos of the incident. So if the video I uploaded to Yelp doesn't satisfy you, keep an eye out on IG and FB. But on a lighter note, this is a pretty cool spot to check out. If you find yourself in Tijuana, make time to come here and hang out in Playas de Tijuana while you're at it.

This is a great tourist location near the Tijuana Beaches. My eyes tricked me for a second with the mirage of the part where it was blue painted and blended with the water so it seemed like there was an opening to the other side. You can see the US side from here with border patrol and cameras. It's funny that the US side is so empty and the MX side is packed on the beach. You can see San Diego on a good day in the far distance.

I know the TJ border can take up to 5 hours on busy days so I never go back to the US thru that border. I recommend getting here before they open at 6am so that you can get thru in less than 30 min. Tecate is the border city here and it's such a pretty city with lots of coffee shops, so you can always park your car and walk over to the border, have coffee and walk back, and the wait is not even long to walk back, maybe 5 min max. A day before I received a text reminding me of my appointment. When I arrived to the Social Security office I checked in using my mobile phone from the text I received to check in. Then they text me my ticket number. Once my ticket number was called I received another text with the window number to go to. The guy at the window was super friendly saw my documents and told me I should receive my new card in 2 weeks. He also informed me that after 24 hours their system will be updated with my new name and I could go to the DMV to process my new Driver License with my updated name. The entire process took 15 min. It was super fast and I love how easy they have made it with the update text messages.

They didn't even provide me a ticket while I was waiting in the lobby to do biometrics. I had to go up to the lady doing biometrics and explain my situation again while everyone else in lobby were waiting for their number to be called. The lady in front was on a power trip and was pretty rude to me. I've seen the way she spoke to other people. Unfortunate things happen to people, my wallet was stolen and I have to start from scratch. I just wish the people that worked there were more understanding.

I live in Downtown San Diego but I needed an appointment within 2 weeks. Q: How long did it take to make the appointment? A: The phone call to reschedule the appointment took about 45 minutes, which honestly was the least efficient part of the process. This could definitely be improved. Q: Was parking difficult? A: Not at all. Parking was easy and convenient when I arrived. Q: Did they take walk-ins? A: Yes. The security guard asked whether I had an appointment or was a walk-in. When I arrived around 10:30 a.m. on a Friday, there was only one person waiting for walk-in services. By the time I left, there were about seven people waiting, so it definitely became busier closer to 11:30 a.m. I don't know the wait time for walk-ins, though. There is a self check-in kiosk, and you may also receive a QR code by text. I used the kiosk without any issues. Just make sure you have your Social Security number available. Overall, I would recommend this location. I need an appointment in San Diego within 2 weeks and this was the only location that was available The actual in-office process was efficient, organized, and much smoother than expected. My biggest recommendation would be: bring all your documents and mid morning appointments may be best. After trying to get through on the federal line, understandably clogged due to recent changes in the law ( yay) , I was unable to get someone on the line or make an appointment in our local office. So, I was resigned to go and stand in what I believed would be a very long line to have a very simple question answered. I decided to try to call the local office. I did wait on the line, but not very long. Luckily , a professional and well information agent, Rolf, answered the phone. Very quickly my question was addressed. Greatly relieved! Many thanks.
