I've been a devoted gym rat my entire life, and I've been a member of or visited hundreds of gyms across the country. The EAC in Columbia City matches the best of any of them. Their free weights, weight lifting machines, and cardio equipment, are all up to date, and both varied and plentiful, so waits are minimal. And their Champions area is both spacious and well equipped. But it all starts with their people. Starting at the front desk. Dallas, Huy, and Erika, are among the first faces you see and, as with all good customer facing companies, they are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And I've noticed that each regularly uses the seemingly lost skill of name recognition. They routinely display a proud sense of ownership. On every visit, I look forward to the words of encouragement from Dallas, and the smile and fist bump from Huy. On the back end, led by Zach, the fitness leader, they have a cadre of impressive trainers. Of the team, Sydney, Marcus, Sean, and Tre stand out for both their technical and interpersonal skills. Sydney, in particular, is both versatile and flexible whether an individual client or group is looking for weight training, conditioning, sparring/boxing, or simply lending an ear and a meaningful conversation. Similarly, Marcus is impressive with his high energy training and group Champions Class. He has, by far, the best music selection of any exercise class that I've ever been around. Personal training options available, including athletic performance training: powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and conditioning for basketball, football, wrestling athletes. She's also good about removing an exercise if it's not doing what's intended so I'm not wasting my time. She does dry needling which has been a game-changer for me.
