De Nieuwe Linde is situated outside the hot spot of 't Zuid but it doesn't make it less desirable. Despite its history, it seems like a local place, like where locals come in for their Saturday afternoon beer and hang. I found the food to be just ok and the service to be inattentive. I also ordered a local beer, that I had to clarify with them was from the area, not just a generic Belgian beer. You're really going for the atmosphere and the history. It's like they can tell you're an outsider/tourist and treat you as such, which is a strange choice, in my opinion, because they have this reputation that likely draws in the tourists.
