"And what is so rare as a day in June? Then, if ever, come perfect days..." This poem by the American poet James Russell Lowell (1819-1891) who was ambassador to England from 1880-1885, could have been spoken about the beautiful mid-June day of this year when my sister and I and her friend ventured to this charming beachside eatery. The sunny, pleasant day. along with the view of the Atlantic Ocean from our table overlooking the beach made this a truly memorable meal. First of all, though, we had to stop at a Co-operative (Co-op) store on the way to get a bottle of wine as this restaurant doesn't have a license. No fear, though, as there is no corkage fee, glasses and corkscrews and coolers are provided. We ordered the same item from the menu--mixed seafood plate--and it was fresh and delicious as all items are made when ordered, and not pre-made. The IW crab salad was seasoned just right, along with a homemade potato salad and smoked salmon. Not ones to give up our dessert, we each had a small tub of New Forest ice cream that was very more-ish.
