It made me not want to finish my bowl so it felt like a complete waste of my money.. I visited on a bike ride. Parking conveniently located for me to lock it up while I ordered. What I got: regular mavericks acai bowl The food was good. I enjoyed every bite, it stayed cold, and it tasted fresh. The cashier was friendly, and made sure to ask if the order was to go or for here. The portion is kind of small, if I was really hungry, this would not fill me up. I think I would get a large if I was famished. Anyways, pretty sweet spot, interesting furniture inside. SO HAPPY I decided to revisit the Beach Monkey Cafe about a month ago while returning from hiking in San Pedro Valley Park which I do 3-4 times a week. What a gem! Instead of handing you a cup and directing you to those pump thingies, here every cup is a fresh pour over. It is by far the best coffee I've found in Pacifica. Besides that they have dolmas, baklava and killer banana bread! I haven't tried their Açaí Bowls or items on their breakfast menu yet but just what I have tried has made me an instant regular customer. Great Quality, Quantity, and Variety! I'll certainly be coming back to try all the options. Its more expensive than a drink you'd get at Jamba Juice but also a richer portion. I stopped by around 2pm on a Wednesday with my cousin after our hike at Mori Point. We were both craving an açaí bowl and decided on getting a Large Ocean Beach ($16.99 before tax/tip). We opted to share the large because it was double the size of the standard which was already $12.99. The Ocean Beach was a mix of açaí with banana, strawberry, almond milk and peanut butter. Topped with some banana, honey almonds and granola. You can really taste the peanut butter in the mix although it was not visibly noticeable. The açaí was very smooth and wasn't too icy or watery. I do feel like the almond milk did overpower the flavors of the açaí, strawberry and banana but it was still good. Some suggestions I have would be to add some peanut butter drizzle on top for added flavor and to maybe have a layer of granola in the middle of the container. I felt like there was a lot of açaí but not much in terms of toppings. If there were toppings in the middle, the added crunch makes a difference. read more

This place rules. My wife and I came on a warm Saturday for açaí bowls. We ordered the Beach Monkey and Pedro Point bowls - both delicious! Quaint cafe with a neighborhood feel. In addition to coffee, smoothies, and acai bowls, they also have small, pre-packaged containers of mediterranean food if you want to grab some of that. We came after a hike nearby and ordered two regular-sized acai bowls, both of which were good and satisfied our craving to devour something light. Service is friendly and the bowls were ready in about 10 minutes. We stopped by recently and it's not the same quality as this place was a few years ago. It's a very different ambiance. Not the same hustle/bustle as we usually saw on weekends with people coming in and out with coffee and acai bowls. Come to find out this place closed and reopened a few years ago so this is likely what contributed to the change in quality. The granola in the acai bowl was not crunchy. It was mixed in with the acai and unpleasantly soggy. Fruits were not fresh. If you're looking for a fresh bowl, I wouldn't recommend this place. I asked about coconut milk and yes they had it. The café was going to close in about 45 minutes so the selection of pastries or anything else was very limited. I was kind of looking for a pastry but it's OK, what kind barista recommended a bakery on my way out. This was really cute - I love love Bob Marley and when I went over to the Sugar/milk station, there was Bob playing on the speaker. We ordered the Mavericks Açaí bowl: Organic acai with bananas, strawberries, papaya, and organic apple juice or almond milk blended and topped with house-made gluten-free granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, bee pollen, coconut shreds, and honey. It was delicious! Everything was okay, service was a little spotty and that it did take a very long time for them to make the bowls and it wasn't even that busy. Have been coming here intermittently since they first opened. Used to enjoy coming here after the beach. Came on a Friday afternoon just before closing for a coffee and acai bowl, and it seems like there was a change of ownership. IMHO, the place has become a confused cafe. The interior has changed set ups and decor so much (initially a beach/surf vibe) and it now looks like an eclectic mix of European grandma and conflicted coastal soccer mom. The coffee is carelessly made with who knows how old grinds, and the overall organization, cleanliness and visual appeal is a bit suspect. I know the pandemic was a tough time, and I appreciate small businesses hanging in there, but I feel they could do better. I hope they turn it around. read more
