For those of you who don't already know, Statesboro is home to Georgia Southern University, one of the more popular colleges in the state. Statesboro is also home to the Statesboro Police Department, one of the more...vigorous agencies in the state at maintaining sobriety on the streets. Statesboro is ALSO home to some of my idiot friends who thought it'd be a great plan to have a "Big Beer" from El Somb and then drive back to PlayersCopperPlantationGardenDistrict coolkid apartment flavor-of-the-month, thinking there'd be NO WAY the cops would patrol anywhere NEAR where 80% of off-campus students live....anyway, I digress. He called me from the jail at around midnight. Not much has changed since I graduated and moved on from The Boro. Luckily the folks over at Akins/ Saseen are still on their A-game. I called em up, just like in the good old days of my undergrad, and the same helpful guy, Kevin, was working the night shift. Because I'd done business with them before, he made the paperwork easy via fax and scan/email (I was not in town), and 30 minutes after me being awakened, the paperwork was done. (He explained to me that each case is handled a little differently, depending on the details of what's going on, the history of the customer, the nature of the charges, etc). The jail released my knucklehead when they got dang good and ready, but Akins finished their part pretty damn quick. The best part of all this? I now *own* a Georgia Southern Student who has been the best daggum gardner, painter, and car-washer I've ever had....and I now sleep with my phone off.

I never write reviews, let me start here…read more Our family left Saseen Bonding feeling discriminated against. We came to this business during one of the most stressful moments a family can experience, expecting the professionalism, compassion, and respect they advertise on their website. Instead, we left feeling judged. My family is Hispanic, and I am white. During the bonding process, when there was an issue verifying my brother-in-law's Social Security number, the employee helping us, Adam, immediately asked, "So he's illegal?" My brother-in-law is not in the United States illegally. He is here legally, has a valid Social Security number, and is legally employed. Adam then stated that ICE was going to take him. Those comments were unnecessary, offensive, and dehumanizing. Instead of treating us like a family asking for help, assumptions were made before anyone took the time to understand the situation. No one should be made to feel less than because they speak a different language, have an accent, or come from a different background. Unfortunately, our experience reflected something that far too many families still face. People have become far too comfortable making assumptions and treating others differently because they look different or speak a different language. That is not acceptable. The United States has always been built by people from different backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, especially by businesses that advertise themselves as compassionate and trustworthy during life's most difficult moments. We walked into Saseen Bonding expecting help. We walked out feeling humiliated, judged, and discriminated against. I hope management takes this seriously, investigates what happened, and ensures that no other family is made to feel the way ours did. Businesses that serve the public have an ethical responsibility to treat every customer fairly, professionally, and without prejudice. Personal opinions, assumptions, or beliefs about immigration should never influence how someone is treated while seeking a service. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and impartiality, regardless of their race, ethnicity, language, national origin, or perceived immigration status. Whether someone is a U.S. citizen, a lawful resident, or facing an immigration issue, they are still entitled to be treated as a human being. The role of a bail bond company is to provide professional assistance not to make assumptions, pass judgment, or allow personal viewpoints to affect the way customers are treated. So with that being said, I don't want to leave a star. If your compassion depends on who walks through the door, it isn't compassion. Being family-owned should never mean being above accountability. I sincerely hope this complaint is investigated objectively and not simply dismissed because the employee involved is family. Businesses earn trust by addressing serious concerns not by protecting their own. Zero stars is needed as an option. Some businesses earn five stars. Others earn complaints. This one earned both a public review and a BBB complaint.
