My niece is currently in the 6th grade and she absolutely loves it and is looking forward to her teachers in 7th grade. In addition, my brother plans on enrolling his son for the upcoming year in September 2020, as he was particularly impressed with the science program for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades and he and his wife met the teachers I believe January or February of 2020. He and I also received positive feedback of the upper grade teachers and the curriculum from from parents and students. The building appears safe and secure and the faculty is devoted to the academic well being of its students. The school also has after school choir and after care program. The teachers are kind and very knowledgeable about what it takes to help students learn to the best of their ability. I saw students paying attention and actually LEARNING! I think it was the way the teachers kept their students' interests and the level of engagement in the classroom. I am particularly impressed with the friendliness of the staff- they are very approachable and I think that is important in a school community. I am excited to have found this school. ALSO I want to emphasize how much I love that this is a public charter school. Their curriculum is slightly different than a "traditional" public school. The teachers are given freedom to teach in more creative ways (I think that why the kids seemed more involved) - I looked at a great number of schools, but this one really impressed me. I am very excited about Golden Door.
