I decided to have my daughter attend because she has traveled to most places in the US and to my home land the last couple of years. I wanted COVID to be a positive experience and not coup her up in the house. Since attending DLEC my daughter has learned her basic education her cousins are learning in Kindergarten. My daughter learned so much and worth the experience. I travel from Seatac and sometimes Auburn to drop off and pick her up but it's so worth it. She has even got accepted into her local school without testing to join kindergarten when she turns 4. I'm glad to have her start her education very young. Everyone thinks she's very smart and a fast learner, visually and physically. Also her social skills has improved so much. She's not shy around people and communicate with those when spoken too. Thanks to all the staff for making her beginning education experience so much fun and challenging during these tough time in our lives. I appreciate very single staff!

When we began looking for a daycare in 2014 and we were met with many options but we went to this one because our first option was full. About 2 months after starting at south Seattle Kindercare, our first option called to say there was an opening. At this point we were not moving our kid because we saw the level of care and responsiveness that the teachers were giving them. Furthermore and most of all, the management team at this school were always available and open to any concerns we had and always resolved them when we engaged them. I will never forget looking at my wife and saying "The director here is amazing and that alone would be enough to keep our kid here!" MVS has delivered all that and more. Because of the small class size and the two year cohort, our son's reading and writing improved tremendously and he blossomed as an individual. He also benefitted from seeing good role modeling by the older cohort. As a second grader he was doing research projects with rough drafts, bibliographies, and illustrations in both English and Spanish! He also benefitted from forrest days where he learned about nature and what it means to be a member of a community. MVS encourages the kids to show up as their authentic selves and embrace each member of the school. Our son thrived socially and emotionally. When I'm asked about MVS I often say it's like the perfect combination of academics and out schooling. Our son has thrived and we are excited to see what this next year brings.

We did a tour of this school. The first class room we visited smelled terrible. There were hiding…read morespots in the class that kids could go hide and not be seen. The room was dark and depressing. The teacher sat in her corner knitting. Way to help educate the kids!!!!! I would be so upset if one of my employees I was paying just sat In a corner knitting. None of the kids interacting w my daughter and when she tries to interact with them they were rude to her and didn't wanna play with her. This was my first red flag. Off to the next room. The teachers were warm and welcoming. The kids picked up that vibe and were very sweet. Second red flag- we all went to the bathroom. I went in with my daughter. All the kids pee in the same room with toilets lined up. For whatever reason, I was allowed into this area and should not have been. I was exposed to all of the kids private parts. I could have been anyone in this room with the kids. Had this been my child and other random people in there watching my kid pee, i would have been really upset. Kids were getting toilet paper all over the place and laying on toilets. It was gross. And there was no teacher in there to help. Maybe I'm more old fashioned but I think boys and girls need separate facilities and same gender teachers assisting if possible. Then another red flag. A girl needed to change her dress cause it got wet in the classroom. There's a male and female teacher. The male teacher left the room with her to change her clothes. Again, it should be the female if possible. And my final concern. The final room had a teacher who could barely get off her chair to help the kids. this is a huge disadvantage and. It was such a hinderance that it made it so she couldn't properly care for the children.

I have two sons who both attended MLM for two years each. Before MLM both our sons attended other…read morewell-regarded pre-school programs elsewhere. However nothing before or since compares to MLM. The teachers there were and are dedicated, intelligent, creative and experienced in the Montessori method. Particular stand-outs during our tenure there were Connie and Reshonna, both of whom are long-time MLM teachers who are wise, loving, and great fun. The current director (Amy) came on board in my younger son's final year and she was an excellent addition to the team. They each knew my kids well and gave them lots of individual attention and communicated well with us about both the successes and challenges our kids were having. The community was excellent and a commitment to diversity and collaboration in our children's education was prized. The school is overseen by a parent run board and during our years with MLM (and before and after as we lived in the neighborhood, we have known many MLM families) I was always impressed by the dedication and hard work of the parents who contribute to the school. MLM was not cheap but it was worth it. The lessons our children learned there serve them to this day (as do the lessons we, as parents learned). Both my spouse and I served on the MLM parent board and on several committees over the years so I can speak from the "inside" as well as the "outside" viewpoint. MLM is a unique and wonderful place and we'll be forever grateful for the time our kids spent there. It's been a year and a half since our youngest son graduated and have since moved away but we treasure the memories of the MLM experience and recommend it highly for those parents who want their children to enter into the school experience in the Montessori method which, while perhaps not the best fit for every child was certainly an excellent choice for us.
