We stayed at Blackbeary Hollow during Christmas with our son and granddaughter. When we arrived, there was no heat. Called the handyman who had to replace four fuses for the furnace. The downstairs (two bedrooms and a family room) never warmed up. The gas fireplace downstairs couldn't be used because there was a problem with the propane tank. Therefore, no heat downstairs. We were never informed of this. The table and chairs on the upper deck were covered with mold. The gutters were full of leaves. There was at least an inch of dirt on the baseboards under the beds. My granddaughter slipped in one of the rubs and hit her head on the faucet. Both Tvs in the cabin were ancient tube TVs. Very limited stock of kitchen pans and tools. Had to buy frying pans, measuring cups and bath mats. No bannister for majority of stairs going downstairs (not up to code?). We were given the wrong info for the wifi twice. Figured it out on our own after a few days. The wood floors looked like someone had beat them with a hammer. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is the cabin has been seriously neglected for years. We have been using Bearly Rustic for years and will never use them again. There are much nicer cabins to be had in the area for a comparable price. read more

My husband, daughter and myself stayed in the cabin Smokey's Edge last year. It was very homey and comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. It is located on a very easy to drive on dirt road in a very peaceful area. ( All flat, paved roads to reach it. ) The view from the deck is gorgeous! We are staying in another one of their cabins this year. Can't wait! read more

We have been staying with Bear-Ly rustic for years. The accommodations and conditions of the cabins are declining bad. We recently stayed in around the bend. There was one small old tube tv, hardly anything in the kitchen to use if you were to cook dinner ( each year we come we always have to buy some type of pots), the heat was not working well went to get fire wood off the porch and it was wet and not useable, the fireplace needed some maintenance, the couches when you sat down you would literally go into the couch and onto the floor. I could go back into pigeon forge and pay the same price for a nicer cabin with all the best amenities but we stay with Bear-Ly rustic because we love Townsend. We love that it's out of the riffraff of the busy traffic and it's a short drive to cades cove. Please update your cabins or have the owners do it. I don't think this year we will be back because of the conditions of the last stay. read more

My friend and I stayed at one of their rentals. it's a 2 day minimum. We walked up to the cabin and the windows were smeared with cob webs and greasy residue. We opened the door and it had a musty smell. A light was on. We put our luggage down and turned on the lights. We went to turn the blinds closed and they were very dirty, dead bugs and by the looks of it they have never been cleaned. My friend went upstairs, and I stayed on the main floor. Walked into the bedroom, seemed fine. Bathroom no issues, my friend calls me upstairs and say "you gotta see this" so I made the climb to the upstairs. She was lying on the bed and said "look" there is 8 inches of dripping dust, dirt, and spider webs on the ceiling fan. She immediately got off the bed. She ran her hand across the top of the bed frame and her hand was covered in dirt. She pulled the covers off the bed and the sheets were worn and see through. We both began to look at the house their were spider webs in the corners, chunks of dust on curtains, the place apparently hadn't been cleaned for months or years. All the fans were nasty. The next morning we were able to get a better view of our living conditions. The fire place had dirt, the coffee table had a dust on it. The place was not CLEAN! Water pressure was non existent, we paid good money and expect a clean cozy cabin to stay in. Needless to say this is not worth your money or time. I am sure all their rentals look the same. Word to the wise, Don't rent ,but if you do, Bring your own cleaning stuff, and linens. Yuck. read more
