It's very kid-friendly and conveniently located with easy access to Big Bear Mountain if you're planning to ski, while also being close enough to Yaamava Casino if you want a little adult time. For some reason, we thought the Bear Springs Hotel was a lodge. It definitely is not. It's a dumpy little hotel squeezed between a busy freeway and a Walmart strip mall. Here's the good: free parking. Now for the rest. Starting with security--or the lack of it. The only visible security was a guy in a security uniform wandering around the "bistro" during breakfast and staring at guests. Other than that, anyone can walk into the lobby, onto the patio, into the bar, up the elevators, and onto the guest floors. No key access is required anywhere. The Wi-Fi situation is also concerning. There's a guest network, but there are also several suspicious room-linked networks showing up. Whether they're legitimate or not, it certainly doesn't inspire confidence. The lobby bistro was disappointing. The food was bland, watery, and overcooked. When I ordered tea, it arrived in a teapot with a broken handle. Not exactly the level of hospitality you'd hope for. The elevator didn't inspire confidence either. The doors began opening before the elevator had fully stopped at the floor, which felt more alarming than convenient. The room itself was pretty janky. A decorative scarf tossed across the bed seemed to be doing a lot of heavy lifting in the design department. The bathroom sink was missing the drain cover, the bed squeaked and creaked with every movement, and the walls were paper thin. We could clearly hear the TV from the neighboring room. There's only a few tv stations and no streaming options. The second floor was noisy overall, with parking lot sounds carrying late into the night and starting up again early in the morning. If you're hoping for a good night's sleep, lower your expectations. The pool and spa area were equally disappointing. The hot tub had food and something dark floating on the surface, and children were using it unsupervised. The view from the pool isn't relaxing either--unless freeway signs are your idea of scenic. What bothered me most was how misleading the photos are. The pool looks lovely online. The room photos show bathrobes that don't actually exist. The food photos displayed throughout the hotel look appetizing and polished, while the actual meals that arrive bear little resemblance to what's advertised. Overall, the photos sell a completely different experience than the one you'll actually get. Aside from free parking, I struggled to find much to recommend here. read more

If you're looking here you're probably wondering if Yaamava played a tricked on you? I'm here to tell you they did. This isn't one of those pleasant jokes, like a gift card that says $10 and really has a $100 loaded on it. You've been pranked. Epic T.V. Show, hidden cameras, scripted level prank. Now to be fair it's not a bad place to stay. The rooms are well furnished the iPads are helpful, the gym is well equipped, they have pictures of the restaurant in the lobby, but I haven't eaten there so I won't comment on that. But that's not to say I don't think I should be given a credit to eat there. With my previous few experiences here I think a free dinner or breakfast is the LEAST they could do to make up for how I was treated. Let's start with the "courtesy call" I made the reservation through the Yaamava VIP host, they took my card info and made the reservation. I made it for the next day and told them I would be around because I had a funeral to attend to. That I would be by to check in after the funeral. So they called me... DURING THEN FUNERAL, that's not what I call a courtesy, it was inhumane. But the manager on duty Ms. Summer put the blame on Yaamava, so we both lamented Yaamava's unprofessionalism. The coup de grâce which really irks me is the deposit policy. Check in isn't until 4pm. Standard, no problem with that. But if you don't check in by 6pm they charge your credit card the full amount of the room. UNACCEPTABLE!!! You have two hours to check in or they charge you an outrageous price? Two hours? Get this if they charge you this ridiculous unexpected rate and your card doesn't go through, they give away your room. What kind of threat is that? Where does it make sense and in whose mind is this policy okay in? The general manager Jason called the next day and acted like this policy was completely normal. You can tell when you're talking to someone who has been trained to gaslight, It's not a normal policy it's crazy. In summary I like staying at Bear Springs, it's not Yaamava not anywhere even close to the same level of luxury but it's still cool. But I hate the deposit policy. The charge stays on your card for weeks. It's like an interest free loan they take EVERY time. It really sucks as far as unnecessary payments go, because they charge you another deposit on top of that when you arrive. It's an utter failure as far as policies go. So just be aware even though you got comped a stay you'll most likely be ripped off the entire amount for a good portion of time. Plus a deposit. Whoever came up with this policy should be scalped a square inch on both temples. Two days later and neither of the charges or deposits or whatever they called these cash grabs have been returned. Have fun coming here, be prepared for their failure of a completely unnecessary and superfluous policy to jack you for a few hundred. But hearing them bad mouth their partner Yaamava is slightly amusing. Overall verdict, this place seems like a strong maybe. Think carefully before staying. read more

I love Bear Springs. I have had the pleasure of staying there twice. I have enjoyed their lounge downstairs which had live music, have enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, and love the convenience of the 24 hr shuttle that takes you to Yaamava Casino. The hotel is quiet. The pool, although small, had plenty of areas for seating. Have not had a bad experience. It's a nice getaway. I never stay at the hotel the entire time, but it's a good place to rest if you are enjoying a concert at the casino or if you are enjoying the pool. read more

I'd give Bear Springs Hotel 4 stars overall. The room was clean, comfortable, and honestly exactly what I needed for a little getaway. I booked the room through urcomped.com, so I definitely appreciated the comped stay. That being said... the Wi-Fi was awful. If you're on a working vacation or need reliable internet, be prepared to struggle. It was slow, kept cutting out, and made getting any work done a complete headache. The jacuzzi hours also make no sense. The casino has 24-hour service, so why is the jacuzzi closing so early? After being at the casino late, it would've been nice to actually relax instead of finding out the jacuzzi was already closed We also tried the Bistro and ordered the hamburger that came with fries or a salad. The burger itself was okay, but the fries were a huge disappointment. They arrived cold and looked like they had been sitting around for a while. I love fries, and these definitely get 1 star from me. Overall, the room was nice and the stay was decent, but between the terrible Wi-Fi, early jacuzzi hours, and disappointing food, there's definitely room for improvement. read more

There is a small pool yet ample lounges and tables to enjoy the outside weather. Nice, large room with king sized bed, a couple chairs, small refrigerator, coffee maker, security safe and plenty of space/ drawers if you want to unpack. Major perk...if you are going over to the Yaamava Casino, the hotel has shuttles that run 24-hours a day, on the hour and half hour. Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice. Onsite Parking for free. This seemingly off the radar bistro, (Bear Springs Bistro & Lounge), located inside the hotel offers a variety of food that would surely satisfy any appetite The appetizers and the main entree dishes offers guests a fine dining experience that one would expect in a stand alone restaurant. I ordered the 10oz petite fillet. It was delicious and extremely flavorful. The dish came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots, all which, were equally tasty. Also offered are dishes such as; seabass and ribeye along with a host of others. My server/bartender, Don was great. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended some customer favorites. His personality and friendly disposition was very much appreciated. The bistro closes at 9pm but the bar area is open until 10pm. And for those late night cravings, 24-hour room service is available offering a full menu. The hotel room accommodations are also worthy of laud and praise. I stayed in a junior suite, which, I found very spacious. It had a modern decor design with an upscale vibe. A rotating 48 inch TV screen sits in the center of the room allowing guests to view it from their bed or the sitting area. A portable tablet allows guests to surf the internet while accessing other services. The hotel is very clean and the support staff is extremely accommodating. The checkin & out procedure is very smooth, quick and efficient. The hotel offers a 24-hour courtesy shuttle to and from the Yaamava Casino, which, is only a short 10 minute ride. The close proximity of the casino coupled with the courtesy shuttle, the bistro and the hotel made for a wonderful stay. read more

I haven't written a review here on Yelp in a long time, and after several stays at Bear Springs, I feel that I must. My wife and I have stayed here several times. Their 24-hour shuttle to Yaamava is very convenient and very punctual. The drivers are friendly and take extra care in their driving. Seems like the drivers and hotel communicate with one another to help passengers get to yamavaa or leave yamava to get back to the hotel in a timely manner or to the casino faster. They take an alternate route. On the first day of our stay, We met Marc, the maintenance manager, Edwin and Rubi at the front desk, and they were very kind to sing happy birthday to my wife since we came here on my wifes birthday. They also waived the fee for early check-in. Parking was not very crowded and theres cameras on the premises which made us feel safer. The room has a small fridge inside the TV stand, which was very helpful. The room has a Keurig machine and has complimentary coffee available. I also like that there were 2 bear springs water bottles available for us to drink. The room was clean. The bed seems to have lost it's cushion though( maybe it's old), but my wife was not super comfortable. It was helpful that we brought our heated blanket, which relaxed us while we slept for the next stays. They provide 3 towels, 2 hand towels, and 1 face towel. There are lotion, bar soap on the counter, shampoo n body wash in the shower which was very useful so I never needed to pack them. Their room service is very affordable and tastes delicous. They listen to requests and make the food delicously. We'd ask for extra iced waters and syrup, and they always provided. The day of our check out, Bear springs let us do late check out with no additional fee. So we ordered in room dining for breakfast which was Loco Moco. It's our first time ordering Loco Loco so my wife had requested extra gravy. We loved the brocoli. The rice and burger patty were seasoned perfectly . The eggs and gravy were on the salty side though. Wed stay here again. The employees are courteous and they made us feel welcome. Nice gem in the area. read more

We had a nice stay here. The only complaints were the room smelled musty. I complained about it and the nice gentleman from the front desk came and sprayed some fresh scents. It worked for that day but the next day it still smelled but we didn't want to move since we had all our belongings in their place. The studio king room was spacious! FRAUDULENT business practices. Our Saturday night stay and room service was $499.81. SUNDAY: We checked out, and halfway home I happen to check my account only to find, 3 ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR $405.65...yes, a total of $1,216.95!!!!! We have no idea what sky they pulled this dollar amount out of!!!! How dare they take money they had no LEGAL right to take?! This is ILLEGAL. What kind of SCAM are they running here? I immediately called the hotel, and no one had an answer, only to say MY money will be returned in 3-4 days. Now there was one reversal charge showing with the 3 FRAUDULENT charges. TUESDAY: The manager apologized and said my money will be back in a couple of days. WEDNESDAY: They still have $405.65 of my money. I've repeatedly asked for corporate. Front desk told me Yaamava, and that was no help. Then I asked the manager if Yuhaaviatam is who I should contact, and she said I could call them. I did and that wasn't correct. I got to a gentleman in HR who said Bear Springs is their own entity. Not only did Bear Springs charge my card ILLEGALY, but their staff can't seem to give me a straight answer as to how to reach their corporate leaders. Windows are not insulated. The freeway could be heard so loudly, that I kept asking my husband, if he's sure the window isn't open. No curtains to block the window, only sheer panels and that is no sense of privacy. For the price, there should have been a microwave and I shouldn't have had to call for an iron. There should be one in the room. The in room tablet doesn't charge.
