I thought the owner was very nice. She helped me with my selections. the only problem is finding the store open.

If I could give this place and owner zero stars, I would! The minute I walked in to join my family in the store the owner made it very clear we were not welcomed. She aggressively addressed the children in our group and told a three and seven year old to get out! As politely as I could, I informed her not to speak to the children and she then told me to get out using profanity(which was never used by anyone in our group). My family and I have NEVER experienced anything like this and we have been visiting Cloudcroft for decades. DO NOT shop here! From the moment we walked in, the experience was awful. The staff member was not only rude but displayed blatantly racist behavior, which is completely unacceptable. Instead of creating a welcoming environment, she made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Honestly, the store itself is nothing special--definitely not worth dealing with that kind of attitude. Owner is not in the business for customer service whatsoever. She is very rude and does not care that we drove 2 hours just to shop at her "Christmas store". She informed us that everyone is from out of town and she was just too busy to open the upstairs where the Christmas items were, we were the ONLY ones in the store plus she had another employee there. Nice stuff, but the proprietress is RUDE. She watches everyone like a hawk, and especially hates it when kids are in the store. She has a sign in the front that says,"Parents Control your Children." You can tell that she has a dim view of all kids. She charges 3% service fee to use a credit card. She's been here for years and the only reason I can figure that she's able to stay in business is that it's mostly one time shoppers - tourists passing through. The lady running the register had to be one of the most rude people I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. She charges 8.5% on top of taxes as a card transaction fee. REGARDLESS IF YOU USE DEBIT OR CREDIT. Keep in mind, Mastercard has a maximum allowed merchant debit/credit fee of 4%. Visa only charges a transaction fee on credit transactions ONLY. This lady is scamming customers and claiming it is the card issuer. She is using a fake "fee" to upcharge customers who use cards. When I asked her if the fee applied to debit card purchases as well, she got EXTREMELY rude to me and literally yelled at me in the store claiming, "THIS IS WHAT IM CHARGING".This is very unprofessional way to treat customers. Started to buy over $100 in merchandise then overhead customer in front of me being told AFTER her purchase that 3.5% was added for using a credit card. When confirmed by owner that was the policy, I left. Caveat emptor with this business. read more

Be prepared to feel as though you are inconveniencing the help. The lady literally stood in the middle of the shop with her arms crossed and stared at the people looking in the store. The owner is rude and acts as if you are inconveniencing her. First time I went was told the shop had a Christmas store. It was a weekend and because she was to busy downstairs she was not opening the Christmas store. To come back during the week. So I did and again to busy. I am here today on a Tuesday at 2 pm and she is closed. Sign states 10 to 4:30 pm. 3 strikes I will not be coming back. Poor business etiquette. - 5 stars read more

Don't take your kids to this store. The selection is great, but the owners have a child phobia. One lady hovered over us everywhere we walked, and made me feel like an intruder. And I have VERY well behaved kids, who were right by my side. My wife wanted to buy a couple items, but I just didn't feel like supporting or encouraging this business, so we left. read more

I have been visiting the store usually twice a year for over 15 years. I love to go in and experience the calm feeling from the lovely smells, music, and beautiful selection of home items. I have bought many, many items from this store from exquisite Indian jewelry to home decor, and have enjoyed them tremendously. When my children were young, I always had them wait outside any stores like this, because, even though they were well behaved, I didn't want to risk an accident. I have seen people come in and let their children loose, touching everything. I have seen people bring in huge dogs. Our society has become completely self-serving with an "I can do anything I want to do" attitude. Gone are the days when people respected a store owner who works long hours seven days a week to get by. Shame on all you complainers; I think YOU are the rude ones. read more

While shopping in Cloudcroft I came upon this what I thought to be charming store.... when I went inside I was immediately approached by the one of the ladies working who immediately advised me that my children would do better if they were held while in the store. My children are 2 and 4 and I was already carrying the 2 year old due to her being tired from walking. Both children were both behaving when my 4 year old saw a small sculpture on the bottom shelf. he then calmly reached out to point at it so his mother and I could see what he was looking at. The lady the screamed from somewhere in the store at him not touch anything. So I did the same I touched and bought nothing. last time I will ever set foot in this store. read more
