This place was amazing. Driving from SLC to Jackson a must stop! Just a quick little detour you get to drive along the stunning Bear Lake and stop for a great steak. This place has a lot of charm and our server, Jenny, was so nice. I got the prime rib, my friend and girlfriend got steaks. Butchered in house. Bear Lake is now on our radar and we'd love to come back this summer because of our experience at Bear Trapper.

    Oh Let's E.

The wait is long. We waited for 30 mins and The food was horrible. Kids chicken tenders were hard as rock. The blt was soggy and the stake was over cooked. The restaurant decor was cute but the restaurant its self needs to be cleaned. Unfortunately there are not a lot of places to eat in the area. I do not recommend. We will not be going back.

My husband and I recently rode our motorcycle to Bear Lake/Garden City, UT. Our original intention was to have lunch at Cody's Gastro Garage after hearing some good things about it, but between a lukewarm reception and learning that we had to scan a QR code to see a full menu, we were irreparably turned off and left. We headed down the street and found the Bear Trapper. There was a crowd of people on the bench out in front, so we were all, "uh-oh, wonder how long we'll have to wait for a table?" Turns out they were just waiting on a friend, but we took the opportunity to ask if they knew the restaurant and if they did the QR code thing, how was the food, etc. Upon hearing "no" to the QR code and "yes" that the food was good, we decided to give the place a try. We walked in and there was ~10 people waiting in the lobby. A very personable young man in a cowboy hat, bolo tie, turquoise jewelry, and other rodeo regalia greeted us right away (how it SHOULD be!) and assured us we would be seated in a timely fashion, and we were. The dining area was clean and decorated in typical Western steakhouse fashion. We received menus and were pleasantly surprised to find the prices very reasonable. We both ordered Malibu Chicken sandwiches, which were served on toasted brioche buns and not plain white hamburger buns. The french fries were good, too, not overly salty. Our server was friendly and efficient. I think it took ~7 minutes form the time we ordered to get our food. After paying for our meal (in CASH - horrors! ) we talked to the young cowboy for a bit, and he told us about the town's motorcycle rally in September and other things we might enjoy seeing or doing in the Bear Lake area. He was not only an excellent brand ambassador for the Bear Trapper, but for the town. The only reasons the Bear Trapper doesn't get a higher score from me at this time are: 1. our table wasn't in the greatest location, near the emergency exit at the back of the main dining area. But in all fairness, the place was packed, and there were only two of us, so I get that. Plus we were never "forgotten" about, we received the same quality of service that everyone else in the place did. 2. there was a large booth next to us that needed to be bussed, and it remained unattended the entire time we were there. But those were minor issues in the overall picture. We would happily go back to the Bear Trapper again. Next time, we'll try the prime rib!

Food was surprisingly good, the breakfast burrito with bacon was delightful and full of flavor. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, as was the French toast. Everyone loved the hot chocolate. Waitress was polite and attentive, overall good service. Cute, cozy, well maintained (not run down at all.) definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I have a large family so it was a really nice and affordable option for breakfast. My kids loved their pancakes. The service was superb. My coffee and water was always filled. I highly recommend this place for breakfast and will be sure to go there again on our annual family bear lake trips.

The pastrami burger is excellent! Had to try a Utah fav and the broiled salmon is amazing. Highly recommend their raspberry lemonade too Our waitress Delanee was super sweet. 5 star experience across the board

The food was decent. I like how the menu had smaller portion options. It was a fun unique place to eat while visiting bear lake.

Great service and great food. The only place on the south end of Bear Lake open for a good breakfast.

Homemade food, I had prime rib and my wife had the pot roast. Both good. Enjoyable atmosphere and excellent waitress.

Opening a business, especially in a small town with unpredictable customer flow is no easy feat and I truly applaud them for bringing a high-class feel to Garden City. My favorite side was the Street Corn. It's about as close to authentic elotes as I've found in Utah (iykyk) and I devoured it. The potato salad and macaroni salad were pretty average but the cookies were a standout. I tried the snickerdoodle and the chocolate cookie topped with vanilla icing and raspberry purée. These were easily my favorite cookies I've had in a long time. Their lemonade varieties are fresh and flavorful. I had the peach with coconut and sipped it happily all day. My family members who ordered meat said it was absolutely delicious. We sat on the beautifully decorated patio with incredibly comfortable chair. It honestly felt like lounging at a very welcoming and wealthy relative's home. I loved it! Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot! Just be sure to arrive earlier in the day, as they do sell out (a great problem for them to have).

I heard them mention that it's their 2nd season so I'm sure they'll only get better as they get into the swing of things. I found it a little strange that they'd have such a large seating area and then only one stall for the bathroom. With it being BBQ and ribs, many people were looking to wash their hands. Towelettes, a sink out back or even paper towels available outside would have helped greatly. I saw people going in for the little napkins at the counter then pouring water from the pitchers into them to be able to wash their hands. The meat eaters among my party seemed to really enjoy their plates. However, as a vegetarian I found this place wanting. I enjoyed the corn and coleslaw but would have liked it there was a menu item for vegetarians beyond the kid's grilled cheese. Maybe a plate of vegetarian sides or fully loaded grilled cheese with pickles, sauerkraut, tomato et cetera. The cornbread was just okay.

I had a few special requests due to me sharing my burger with my dog and they did not disappoint. The shake was really good. Blended well. I had raspberry and Oreo cookie. It would've been nice to taste a little more raspberry in the shake. They pride themselves on using fresh raspberries and that is the reason. Fresh fruit mixed with dairy tampons the tartness and dulls a lot of the sweetness.. I believe macerating some raspberries and sugar and finishing with some fresh lemon zest or even a little lemon juice and adding that to the fresh raspberries would knock it out of the park. I put it on the floorboard so my dog wouldn't get at it and accidentally knocked it over. It was so thick that only the huge amount that sticks out of the cup touched the floor mat. Awesome!!!!!!! I got the biggest burger they had. A half pound with two kinds of cheese and pastrami burger. It wasn't called a pastrami burger so I'm not gonna complain that it's just one thick slice. It was more like how you would add bacon to a burger. All the veggies were super fresh. Their choice of bun is the best bun I've had since my road trip began a week ago. Here's my opinion on the burger. The burger had no beef flavor. The only flavor came from the wonderful charcoal grill marks on the burger. Don't be afraid of salt. It's a chef's favorite condiment. The biggest complaint and my only true complaint is that the burgers have a horrible texture to them. Like two quarter pounds of beef breakfast sausage. Not good. If somehow it is how ground I'd recommend using a smaller die and leaving out the transglutaminase. Dog loved it. Would I come again? I sure would. Mos Def
