It has some ramps so parts of it are handicap accessible. There are not a lot of swings but one of them is handicapped accessible but not a wheelchair swing. Almost every time I come to this park I see homeless people. Only once was there an altercation. But it's enough to make you not want to come in the early morning unless you have a buddy. The bathroom and picnic facility are usually in decent condition.

This park is quaint and has a playground area with goal posts and a tennis court. There are also benches to sit and watch your kids or to enjoy the peace. While it wasn't what I was looking for, I did use the area to walk around and reached over 1.5 miles from walking the outside area of the park. The lights didn't come on while the sun was going down so they may not work. Be cognizant of that if you plan to walk toward the evening.

There were people reading, picnicking, etc. Honestly, it was a slightly chilly day, but people were enjoying the fresh air. Since the last time I was here they've put in a volleyball area. They've also put up tape so that people can't play on the playground equipment, because COVID-19 can live on playground equipment for up to 3 hours, or so it is believed. It's too bad that it takes a pandemic for people to get out to the park. It's wonderful to see the world restoring itself so quickly as people drive less and tax the world less. I heard so many more birds than normal. That's the silver lining in the pandemic.

Instead of informing use that the area was already reserved when we were paying to get in. So when we were forced to vacate our pavilion we had no where to find shad and was forced to sit in the grass. We only stayed about 30min or so after that. Also the snack bar is cash only. It's 2024 not very many people keep cash on them. The lifeguards were continuously blowing the whistles at kids just having fun. Pool is nice to chill in but the management needs work.

Hidden history, hometown pride, and one very cool rocket ship!…read more After finishing my visit to the Edmond Historical Museum, I stepped outside and realized Stephenson Park was literally next door. Since it was such a beautiful Oklahoma day, I decided to spend some time exploring--and I'm glad I did. This isn't just another neighborhood park. Everywhere you look there's a little piece of Edmond's history. I especially enjoyed reading about the famous Rocket Ship Slide, a playground icon that generations of Edmond kids remember. While the original slide has been retired, the restored rocket display is a wonderful tribute to the park's past. The new playground is outstanding, with plenty of room for children to climb, play, and burn off energy. The walking paths, shade trees, benches, and open green space make it just as enjoyable for adults who simply want to relax. As a retired Air Force veteran, I was especially touched by the "Peace" military monument honoring the men and women who have served our country. It was a meaningful reminder that parks can preserve memories as well as provide recreation. I also noticed the park hosts Thursday evening concerts, and after seeing the setting, I already know I'll be back when the weather cools down. Whether you're visiting the museum, traveling through Edmond, or simply looking for a peaceful place to spend an hour, Stephenson Park is well worth the stop. Sometimes the best attractions are the ones you discover by accident.
