Leah is amazing! She may not have some of the experience of some of the other stylist at beauty bar, but she is talented and she LISTENS! I booked with her on a whim. I live in the neighborhood and was tired of driving 45 minutes to get my hair done. I keep my hair bright platinum blonde. As I get older, it gets harder for my hair to pull without damage or brassiness. She did better than my blonding specialist that I payed twice as much for. The salon itself is locally owned, clean, comfortable and has a great neighborhood vibe. They offer a ton of services including massage, headspa, nail services and more. I couldn't be happier with Leah. A few of the other stylists can be a bit overbearing- but I think they are just trying to "help" a less experiences stylist. Because she's fresh to the game she has a very different approach to her clients. I know my hair. I hate when I go to a new "experienced" stylist and they assume they know how to lift and tone my hair. They refuse to listen, and I either leave with purple gray hair or orange tiger stripes. Leah listens, and actually got the specific charcoal bleach that has been a godsend for my course, curly, stubborn hard to lift hair. If you want a high-end quality salon experience without the high-end quality salon price, She is a great way to get in and get the same experience without the insane price tag. I tried beauty bar a few years ago and was a bit underwhelmed with the experience and overwhelmed at the price. I'm so glad I came back after seeing her work on some local community sites and contacting her on FB. She got me in quickly and this is my third trip back. I just moved to the area and finding a new hairstylist is always a hard task. I did some research on this place and many seemed to have great experiences with this spot. The lounge area was very inviting and had a nice coffee bar area for you to make a cup of fresh coffee. I also noticed that they had a bar area as well! I've only been to a few places that offered cocktails in a salon, but it seems to be a regular thing around here and I'm not mad about it. My hair stylist ********was absolutely amazing and pretty much read my mind. I told her what I used to get done with my hair and what I was looking to come out with and she perfected it. I went in with waist length hair and asked for a haircut style and color. i asked for my hair to be cut to just under my shoulders and the stylist cut it shorter to above the shoulders (a good inch or two shorter than i wanted). I also asked for layers which are non exsistent and somehow ended up with some kind of bob which I did not ask for. I even brought in a picture for reference and i wasnt expecting exact perfection but at least something similar to the picture which did not happen. read more

Just makes me think of Friend's Monica Geller frizzy hair situation. The bride raves about this spa and had recommended it. And so glad that I did. Setting up the appointment was quick and easy. Plenty parking on hand and the atmosphere inside was nice. I was early enough to browse their little shop, which consisted of... besides beauty items, robes, candles, jewelry ,etc. All items in line with the whole aesthetic of the salon. My stylist, Nikki (sp?), was absolutely great. Listened to my what I wanted done and how much I wanted to take out. And thank goodness, put on enough stuff on my hair to combat the humidity. This review starts out negative, but ends in a win for customer service. I arrived for my first Beauty Bar mani-pedi on New Year's Eve, and the place was slammed. The front desk staff weren't quite as gracious as I had expected, but were polite enough. They did offer me a drink while I waited. My nail tech was also quite polite, but didn't point out basic things like where to put my rings or that I'd need to choose a polish color from the racks on the wall. Simple things, yes, but having never been there before, these were details I would have liked to know. I was redeeming a gift card, so I didn't feel like I had thrown away money when my French manicure was sloppy and my pedicure left me with stray polish around my toes. I actually had to request that my nail tech file the burrs off my nails after clipping and filing, and she had to repaint two or three of them. I realized that I was seeing her best, so I didn't make a scene and just left with sloppy nails. I was so disappointed that I posted photos of the shoddy work to Yelp (without an accompanying review that would drag down their rating). The owner, Sara, called me a few months later when a client pointed out the unfavorable photos, and she apologized profusely and offered me a credit to my account to come back and try the Beauty Bar again. So I did. The second experience was similar in service, but much, much better in quality. I left with a great-looking French manicure (apart from a couple of closely-clipped cuticles -- apologies to my nail tech: I know I said I wouldn't mention that part!) and fantastic-looking and feeling feet. The bottom line? I'll probably go back, and I'll let everyone know that Sara does her best to make things right. For hair services, this place is a 5. Kim is amazing with my cut and color, every time! She's friendly and does great work. I highly recommend her. For nail services, however, I would give this place 1 star. Jennifer has done my pedicure twice now, and twice she's cut and scraped them raw. It was so painful to wear shoes for 3 days after my last pedicure - the exact opposite of the "happy toes" pedicure I paid $40 for! I do not have very sensitive skin, so it wasn't that either. You can see how red and swollen virtually every toe was right afterward in my pictures. At least this time the polish was applied well. My first pedicure chipped off after 3 days (pedicures last for weeks on my toes ordinarily). I am pregnant now, so I was really concerned about getting a bad nail infection from all the cuts she left around my nail beds. She was rough and not very apologetic about butchering my toes. In short, definitely go here for hair services! But, I simply cannot recommend their pedicure services, or at least Jennifer as your nail technician - which is a shame because I do like the salon. read more

There is nail polish all over my cuticles and some parts of my nails are missing polish. You definitely get what you pay for as far as haircuts go. I love that they have the different levels so I don't get stuck with someone fresh out of school. I don't get my hair done often, but when I do I travel an hour to this place. They have never disappointed and the girls are always amazing!! The last time I went I splurged on myself and paid to do a level higher than I typically do and the girl was AMAZING! When she was washing my hair she told me to relax, close my eyes, and then she gave me an AMAZING head massage - for several minutes!! No charge, she didn't get anything out of it, but she knew I don't tend to spoil myself and so she spoiled me for me! It was so sweet and unexpected!! It. Felt. Amazing!! They don't push products, but they have plenty to choose from if you're in the mood. All around, always an awesome experience!! read more

They did my bridal hair and makeup for my wedding I'm October as well as my bridal party. I absolutely loved everything about it. The only thing that I would have changed is the quality of makeup. 1 Star because the place is cute. 1 Star because the prices are a bit more moderate than other more upscale salons in the Toledo metro area. I can't go beyond that, because despite the beauty and packages this place really isn't well polished or to my thinking up to par with upscale practices. 1) They charge you for cocktails. I had a spa day here and was charged for my glass of wine. I jus spent 300-400 dollars and I can't get a glass of wine? I have never been to a salon where if drinks are avail ale there is a charge, this was quite a new unpleasant experience. 2) The receptionist does not offer you a drink when you enter. No big deal she doesn't do this, just upscale Salons like Shamas in Perrysburg do this. When I went for an appointment at Shamas I had a drink in my hand so fast, like ninja fast! I literally was shocked pleasantly upon arriving. Again I don't NEED someone to throw a drink in my hand, BUT perks like this relax you and enhance your experience. HENCE an "upscale salon". 3) The main reason I chose this spa was because of the Sedona "clay" mud wrap. When I arrived it was neither a wrap or clay. #SideEye Told the manager and she "thanked me for my information". Okay! I called to ask 1) what are the detoxifying elements of this clay as YOUR site states? No one knows (not even until this day) the benefits they boast of on THEIR SITE. Go to the Reve Salon in Perrysburg, they know. The service was a scrub that just gets put on your belly and front of legs/arms. Could've done this at home, having all of my skin cared for is what I assumed a "wrap" is. This should be made clear on their website. Ahava Spa downtown clarifies this. I honestly should have just stopped the service because I didn't enjoy it OR it wasn't what I was lead to believe via their website. 4) Deep tissue massage was not great or that deep of tissue. It was decent but not great by any means. The young lady used her elbows a lot, which I like hands for deep tissue to be more precise. It at least feels that way from my experience and has loosened up more tissue. 5) The people are nice, but that's pretty much any decent spa. 6) Receptionists are not trained on services. They have no clue how to answer any questions about the menu. NOT the fault of the receptionist, just a missed mark of management not training the receptionist or hiring someone qualified to answer basic questions. A lot of upscale salons thoroughly train front desk help and even require they have undergone beauty school. 7) I'm rating this place for what it is: an "upscale salon". It just doesn't make the mark. They are not knowledgeable on their services they offer. 8) Long story short this place would've made another 400-600 bucks off of me in the last couple of months, but their lack of pampering guest and going the extra mile in my eyes doesn't = the extra charge for services. You have places that give you a complimentary cocktail, knowledgeable and the like that just set the bar too high to think this kind of service is "upscale". 9) Today I just booked a Nova Lash appointment at another place because again front desk at Beauty Bar can't tell me what maintaining lashes means. A spa in Holland that charges 150 for initial and 45 for fill vs Beauty Bar's 200 for initial and 75 for fill... And they can answer my questions about products/services! I went here with a group of girls for a bachelorette party today. They were able to accommodate our group of 8 with separate appointments, but we were able to sit in the salon area while our appointments weren't going on to socialize, which was very nice! I received a french manicure from TJ who did a wonderful job and was very friendly and talkative! She even suggested I change into a gown before I received my massage so I wouldn't mess up my nails! I also got a 30 min massage, which was wonderful! The massages were done downstairs, so it was away from the hustle and bustle of the salon section. This was so nice! The only small window in the room was covered up, and the table had a heating blanket on it to help keep you comfortable! Very relaxing atmosphere! 30 minutes was definitely too short! The only awkward part was coming out of the room in my post massage haze to see a couple waiting for their massage on the couch outside staring at me in my robe. It would be nice to not have the waiting area downstairs to decrease the chances of this! All in all, it was an excellent day for all of us, and they did an excellent job accommodating our group! read more

I went here while visiting my inlaws, my sister and law and I really needed some pampering. Booking an appointment was super easy, girl was very pleasant on the phone. When we arrived, I was so impressed by everything. Very very professional... we were taken back to the spa area (I was getting a facial) to a little waiting room with tea and such, very quiet and peaceful. Finally the esthetician came to get me and off I went... The facial itself was ummm, not great. The girl was very mechanical, she didnt relax me at all. The room was very bright and she kept going back and forth to the sink which was in the room and it was super noisy. I felt more like I was at a doctors office then at a spa. The hour flew by and I never fell asleep, which for me is rare. She wasn't overly pushy with products, although she did suggest them. It was.. okay. The pedicure totally wasn't worth it. I only had the half hour pedicure but I've had better done in the mall for $20. It's not even really neat. There's polish on my skin around my toes too. I did get the half hour instead of the hour but if the half hour wasn't impressive why would I want a whole hour? Decided to treat myself and booked the Peppermint Patty manicure. I was not impressed. As described on their website part of the manicure is "dark chocolate salt exfoliation." First of all the scrub smelled nothing like dark chocolate and second they had me go into the bathroom and do the exfoliation myself. If I wanted a DIY manicure I would have stayed home. Also, the polish chipped after about two days and I am careful with my nails and did nothing that should have made them chip that soon. I've gotten a massage here twice now and they both have been absolutely amazing! They are incredibly friendly and accommodating while you are there, it was a few months between my visits and they even remembered me. Everyone in this establishment smiles and says hello when you walk by, it's also very clean and I really have nothing bad to say. I recommend Kevin if you go to get a massage he was great the last time I went! Tip for everyone is they are scheduled based on everything from their manicures, to hair appointments and usually book up quickly call a few days ahead and you should be okay. I went to beauty bar for a manicure, eyebrow wax and hair cut. I always go there for my haircuts and I am always impressed and happy. I decided to use my Christmas gift cards to treat myself a little more this trip. The manicure had spots and bubbles all over them. I got this done first hoping that after the dryer, then 15 minute wax time and hour haircut the nails would be dry. After two days the nail polish had completely peeled off or chipped off (entirely, usually I would look down and the entire extant would be peeling off like a sticker). I was also disappointed with the eyebrow wax. I had to ask her to take more off and when I got home it was no different than if I had plucked them myself. When I pay for a wax I want there to be some sort of reshaping done. I don't mean to completely rip on Beauty Bar because it has always been a great place to get my hair cut. I was expecting to find a new place to get my hair and nails done but I was disappointed. This might have been a fluke day for Beauty Bar. I will continue to go here for my hair cuts. The prices online are wrong. It's much more expensive. There was literally a dirty sock on the chair in the lobby. The receptionist laughed and said Oops that's one of my kids. Really?While you're already mid-process, they charge and charge and charge for additional things without your knowledge. Long story short, my $85 highlights ended up costing me $235 with the tip. I go to the Beauty Bar for my hair all the time and love my stylist Angee. I dicided I'd go there for a spray tan today as I get them often (somewhere else) and thought I'd see how they are at the Beauty Bar since its 5 mins from my office. Well, it was the most bootleg operation I've ever seen. I would have rather just taken my chances at an old Mystic Tan booth. The technichian stood 4 feet away from me and sprayed in the general direction. Then I actually had to try to dry myself with a dirty hair dryer while standing naked in a closet that was steamy from the spray. Really hard to dry with hot air (even pressing the cold button doens't make the air cold) in a hot room. I am still wet and sticky now. I am not looking forward to seeing how my feet turn out...guess I'll have to wear closed toed shoes all weekend. Will continue to drive 35 mins to see the lady I had been going to...was just hoping to find a good place around the corner from work. Don't worry as I'll be back for my hair, but not any other services as I have been disappointed with the nail salon, facials and now spray tan. read more

In the five years of getting my nails done I have never been so unsatisfied with a service. It was my first time here and I will never go back and I will warn others NEVER get your nails done here. I'll start off with the appointment fiasco I went through. First they scheduled my appointment wrong, and they figured this out last minute and I had to reschedule everything in my busy schedule to work around the new time because I was desperate to have my nails done before my birthday and my trip to LA. After the $80 bill for just one full set of acrylics and polish, I was expecting a little more. Normally, I play sports and go to the gym often so my nails last me about three weeks before chipping, denting, and occasionally breaking (I pay around $45 for the set and polish which can last around 3-5 weeks). But in this case the most strenuous activity I did was take a shower and I broke off two nails in the first day! By the third day, my nails looked completely wrecked. Chipped and dented, the polish was lack-luster, I couldn't believe it. All I had done was go to work and shower. I was desperate to have them fixed but they could not get me in before my trip, so I had to go to LA for my birthday with nails that looked like a fourth grader did them. I had called and they said they would fix them for me since I was in the 7 day window. Then I went back in to have my nails half-assed fixed and to my horror, I was charged another $25 for the fix. Thank you for the $100 nails. I will probably be needing to make an appointment else where by the end of the week to fix this disaster. read more

Today, I am writing this post in acknowledgment, praise, and with the utmost appreciation for the services provided to my daughter and myself. .I am exceptionally proud to say that The Beauty Bar staff members made the day memorable and flawless. We had the opportunity to have hair and makeup done with some of the best, most accommodating, patient, and talented staff. I want to recognize the stylist who was very kind in taking time to do a consultation with us both prior to cutting our hair, Tara. I appreciated her time, advice, and patience with us both. It was a pleasure to work with her. It was obvious she was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable and confident in her expertise. Our hairstyles were beyond our expectations and we walked out looking gorgeous. Our makeup artist was simply fantastic. Our makeup was done beautifully. She was so patient and dedicated to excellence and it showed in her work... she listened to what we wanted, we never imaged that we would look so good, and more importantly, feel as glamorous as we did. The compliments we received that evening and thereafter have been incredible. It was simplistic beauty that made us look glamorous. Everyone we have interacted with throughout that day was so wonderful and so helpful staff is truly best and most talented. To my knowledge (and I have admittedly little knowledge of the beauty market in Toledo since I haven't lived there in over a decade) this was the most "modern" (read: trendy, young, current, etc.) day spa-type place in the area. I've taken my Mom here for a haircut for xmas one yr and wasn't displeased. This time, I was in town for a wedding, needed a last-minute mani-pedi, and from what I could gather this was the only place with OPI gelcolor (which cures with LED not UV--just say no to skin cancer, kids!). Since I am notorious for ruining my mani before even leaving the salon and it was going to be a busy weekend, I figured gel was a better option. I like the retail portion of the salon for the most part, but the rest of the salon is sort of unprofessionally cheap. Like, Ikea furniture (the nail tech caddies are the discontinued Ikea office caddy I have from 2003), a giant (admitted) fake Dale Chihuly sculpture, worn pleather chairs, etc., but I suppose this is what I should expect for Toledo. The color selection they had on hand for gelcolor was way limited, which was really disappointing, as they had none of the colors I had pre-planned as options. The manicure and pedicure options begin at a level that is somehow below what is typically considered "basic" (I was asked to specify that I actually wanted foot filing/exfoliation during my pedicure, which apparently costs extra...ummm, is that not included in the definition of a "pedicure?"). The value was bad. There was no mani-pedi special to be had, which is damned near unheard of. The manicurist did not file or trim the cuticles on my toes and I typically have pretty rough feet. The exfoliating scrub used on my feet/calves was oily, left a thick residue, and was not completely washed off, which I actually attempted to do myself when the manicurist left the room but it left my hands so oily I had to capitulate in an attempt to save my impending manicure and wash my hands. The tools used were not individually-wrapped/new, which is a level of professional cleanliness I have grown accustomed to in a big city particularly because nail establishment-acquired ailments can be life-threatening, so that bugged me. The manicure was a joke. My hands were not soaked, cleansed, lotioned, waxed, or exfoliated in any way before the manicure began. I have pretty wicked cuticles, and they were not trimmed completely, oiled, or softened (I had to retrim them at home). I asked for a round manicure and got a squircle. After filing my nails, the filing residue wasn't removed from underneath them. I asked things like this to be corrected repeatedly, to very little positive effect. The coats of polish applied were visibly uneven and did not cover the nails completely at the sides. The polish on 1 nail was so rough it came to a point, snagged my clothes on the way out of the salon, and I had to file it down myself in the car. The polish discolored on all the nails (as if it had a patina to black, and it was a pastel to begin with) at the edges within 24 hrs (and no, I don't smoke). It also began to peel at the sides after 48 hrs. To OPI's credit, the gel cures solid very quickly, is rugged, and mostly lasted about 1 month (except for the aforementioned uneven sides and new growth). I didn't bother having it soaked off, as it peeled easily. For this I paid almost $100 with tip. The manicure itself cost $60 in Toledo, OH, a market where every other retail establishment is a thrift or Dollar Store and there is basically no economy. I can get this same service $20 cheaper in NYC, DC, or Boston, which is pretty outrageous. I have never paid over $75 for a mani-pedi IN MY LIFE (including those with complimentary beverages like champagne). Given that there are no jobs, who is their target market at this price point??? I had my eyebrows waxed for the 1st time in 2 years and they look AMAZING. Initially, I was worried to death that my eyebrows would be waxed too short, too thin, or that they would burn my skin with wax or take off half of my eyebrow - you know what Im talking about. So with MUCH research and trepidation I chose to try the Beauty Bar. I scheduled an appointment with "anyone who will accept a 6:30pm appointment, on such short notice" and I was scheduled to see Manal Cheaib. When I arrived, I was immediately taken to the back Spa Room. YES. The Spa Room. It was a cozy waiting room, the lights were dimmed and calming ocean waves were playing in the background while I waited. There were also cookies available (chocolate chip-I didnt try any sorry). I sat alone, which was pretty relaxing. When Manal arrived she was very kind, I liked her right away. She escorted me to another room, a private room for the waxing. She was very Professional, she used sterilized tools, wiped my eyebrows before and after waxing them, she even educated me on other hair removal techniques like threading. I was so surprised that I was not scared at all while she was actually waxing my eyebrows. Her 10 years + experience and her outstanding professionalism made me feel so safe and at ease. We chatted a little while she waxed and we were finished within minutes. Since then, I have been getting compliments (non-stop) on my eyebrows. Which is why I decided to write a review. I couldn't wait to go get a facial! I loved the lady that did my facial. But because of your receptionist I will not be back a second time. I believe you need to send your front desk to a training or a seminar on customer service. I made sure to get Trinity's name so I can write this review. HORRIBLE! I should have listened to my friends that have gone here and I should have took my business somewhere else. You can not up charge me and when I confront you about it be rude and snotty and while I'm talking to Trinity the other receptionist next to her is just standing there with her arms crossed giving me dirty looks like I was trying to rip them off. Then when I call to make sure my credit card will be credited and when will I see that credit - hang up on me every time I say my name. read more

I wish I could leave an amazing review for this place, I really wanted to love it. The menu options are cute and extensive with fun names for manicures and pedicures like peppermint patty, creme brulee and limoncello. I opted to go with the peppermint patty manicure and the service just didn't live up to the experience. The manicure was supposed to come with a hot chocolate or mocha, but I wasn't offered anything to drink. Every other customer around me had a drink or was offered an option, which made me feel a little left out of having the same experience. Several other things felt a little off to me compared to the menu description. The service was supposed to come with a chocolate paraffin dip, which I assumed would be for my hands. It ended up being some weird lotion that they dipped my fingertips in and then rubbed in afterwards. (I didn't know paraffin doubled as a lotion?) Either way, it was definitely different then the paraffin treatment I was expecting. My arms were also rubbed with really old/rough towels to get the excess lotion off. Besides the fact that it didn't feel good, I was left with pieces of black lint on my arms, since they were sticky from the paraffin lotion. My nail technician was nice, but I left with polish missing from the sides of a few of my nails, and by the end of the day, they were already chipping. I think this could have been avoided by taking more time to finish. I've been to salons that take the extra time and it really makes a difference in how long the polish lasts. read more

I came in yesterday for a Brazilian wax so I can be seen in public for the 4th of July. My service was performed by Kellie who did a great job. Quick, good conversation, mostly painless, not super awkward which is nice when there is someone yanking out the hairs from your nether regions. She gets 5 stars. The customer service I experienced was confusing and gets 2 stars. I called the day before because I was in a pinch and they quoted the service to me as $60. Having lived in Chicago for the last two years, $60 for this service is a steal. I arrive and am quickly checked in and told to go to the back room, I've never been to the salon so I stammered and the girl said rather rudely "Do you need me to show you where to go?" and I said that would be appreciated since I've never been to this salon before. Then the service was performed and I'm finished in 30 minutes which makes me very happy. I then go to the front desk and pull out my $60 cash plus $10 tip. The lady asks me how the service was and I said wonderful and then she quotes me $85. I blinked my eyes at her and explained that over the phone I was quoted $60. She explains that because "everything was removed, the service is $15 more." I had to laugh because removing everything takes much less fines than leaving a landing strip or other design. But, I digress. I sucked it up and paid for the rest of the service on my card because I needed to hit the road for my 4th of July plans.
