I couldn't believe that it was entirely feasible to leave a shop essentially unmanned, and still to this day I'm not sure that vandalism doesn't present a major threat to these seemingly vulnerable tanning studio's. However, in term of cost effectiveness, the idea is pure genius! A friend of mine regularly uses the facilities and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else... she likes to pop in on a whim and spend a few minutes on the sun bed before getting in a few groceries, (she says it makes the prospect of going shopping a lot more attractive). It's funny, I have a few friends who use nail shops in much the same way... They pop in and have one nail done to break up a whole string of chores, and they reckon it lightens the load!

There are 6 stand up beds and 2 lie downs, it's adviseable to book at peak times like lunch or after work but you rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes for a bed. The staff are professional and friendly, and are well informed of all the latest offers. They also do spray tans which I've never had but have heard are well done and look good. The offers are sometimes very attractive with 3 for 2 deals etc, and deals including lotion and free minutes which makes your tan last longer. Very clean and hygenic, the staff always prepare each bed for the new user.

You stand on a marker and press a button and spray starts from your feet and works up. You have to hold your breath unless you want to inhale it, I cant imagine its that good for you! and then you turn around and it comes on again. Its quite noisy and makes you jump but the end result it great, very natural looking with no streaks.

For starters I'm a bloke, and even in this age of widely accepted metrosexuality, using a tanning bed is just one step too far for me. However I do live with four girls who frequent the place enough that my opinion is an informed one. Firstly, the place is extremely clean and efficient. Tokens for the beds can be bought from a machine which ensures that should you be a little on the vain/self concious side, discretion is assured. The place is unmanned which means it is almost always open; I have come back from a night out at four and stumbled in for a glass of cold water! At £1 for 3 minutes, (15 minutes maximum due to strength!) it is extremely competitively priced and the spray tans they offer were convincingly natural enough to make me think my housemates had been on holiday!

Well I used to do sun beds here back when I was at university anyway. For anyone who cares about this sort of thing they do have very good sun beds, they change the bulbs often enough and the machines look top of the range and very expensive. It's pretty much everything you want from a tanning salon; you pay for it all via the machines on the wall, so there is no maroon coloured receptionist to judge you. They have the usual selection of goggles to keep your eyes safe while you cook the rest of yourself like some sort of ham & cheese toastie, but they do leave you with big white panda eyes. They also have a water fountain, Woo, free water, score. They are so cheap, at 55p a minute! They're a cheaper way to get cancer than cigarettes; sorry I mean a tan...a cheaper way to get a tan. If this is your sort of thing, these guys are the best in town.
