I bought a number of groupings for this place like 2 years ago. The place was busy, and I was always happy with the job they did. Got my nails done, hair blown out even got a massage and facial. This place is close to where I get my waxing done (Touché you should totally go, it's awesome) I had gone about 6 months ago, but they were oddly closed on a Saturday afternoon. Went back a few weeks ago, there was no one in the place. I'm happy with my manicure and pedicure, but it was just the owner and her daughter. They're down to one pedicure chair (from 3), salon upstairs is closed, so I don't know how much longer they'll be open... Which is too bad because they've always been so nice to me. I bought a groupon for a $10 beauty sq gel manicure. I tried to call for an appointment a few times and no one answered so I looked on the website to see their hours. I then realized I could make an appointment online which was convenient and I wish more places had that option. I had an appointment with Christine and when I got there they said I wasn't in the computer. Then another woman checked and found me. There wasn't a big selection of "Beauty Sq" gels so I asked if I could pay extra for OPI and they told me no (I did read another reviewer was able to upgrade to OPI but for some reason they told me no). The color I decided on they couldn't find so I just asked to get a regular manicure and pedicure and I'd just save my groupon for another time. The nail technician (which ended up not being Christine) had a severe attitude problem. She was rolling her eyes, talking in Chinese to the other technician being rude to me and other customers. When I was leaving she chased me down and said "next time you must make appointment, we don't do walk ins here" and gave me a business card. I got snippy and said I did have an appointment, I had the confirmation to prove it. Another customer waiting walked out behind me saying she couldn't take their attitudes and thanked me for standing up to them. When I had purchased the groupon I recommended it to my mom because it was such a deal. She ended up going a few days after me because she didn't want it to go to waste despite my bad experience but she had an even worse appointment. She said her technician was berating her, telling her that her nails were damaged from having acrylic on (my mother never has acrylic on her nails) and that her cuticles were a mess. Unnecessary comments that she should have kept to herself. My groupon for the gel manicure expires in November but I think I'm just going to take it as a loss and not return. read more

This place is horrible. Tried making an appointment for over a week and they were always somehow booked. It was to the point that my groupon expired. I will never recommend a place like this to anyone. They didn't even offer to extend the expiration date. Horrible customer service. read more

Here's my experience...I purchased the $30.00 for $50.00 worth of services at Beauty SQ, and although the hair stylists are skilled, they NICKEL and DIME you for every little thing, INCLUDING blow drying your hair, and styling in a particular fashion (ladies, he wanted to charge me an extra $5 for curving the ends of my hair with the blowdryer instead of yanking it straight with a flat iton). Long story short, because you think you're paying for a deal, as soon as you go up to pay you end up coming out of pocket for the service at full price. There is no discount, and they expect that because they split the service up (for example, one does the styling and the other washes your hair) that two people are now owed a tip. And they rudely make the expectation abundantly clear. TACKY! And they arent even that great. When confronted about the charges, they rudely chat amongst themselves in their native language and give you attitude as if you're being cheap. No bueno. I guess you get what you pay for. A no frills beauty center located a few blocks from my house. I had a groupon I bought for $15 for spa pedi and mani. I paid $20 to upgrade to opi gel mani. My nail tech was Kristy and I thought she did a good job! I will definitely return. I noticed a girl got her hair blown out and the hair stylist did a fabulous job. She looked gorgeous. I will return to try the facial, haircut and to do my nails again. I am very happy they are so close to my house!!! read more

I have visited this salon from time to time ever since they opened. They were never very nice but it was clean, affordable & down the block from me so it's where I would go. As time passed it got worse & just yesterday I had to walkout of mine appointment after Kimberly basically yelled at me like a child for being late. I did call to say I was stuck in traffic but with the anger in this ladies eyes, there was no way I was letting her touch me. She looked like she wanted to beat me! It was my last visit under a coupon I purchased but I just rather lose it than be treated so badly. I noticed she was very mean & rough my last 2 visits but put it off as she had a bad day. There is no way I want my pedicure to be painful. It's a shame. They need a personality or personal make over. read more

Now I understand all of the bad reviews. They were nice the first two times I went, but then the attitude changed. They became nasty. Seemed annoyed that I was there. It was so obvious it made me extremely uncomfortable. I had purchased a couple of vouchers (Yelp, Groupon) and I got refunds on all of them because I didn't want to go back. However, I had one more blowout left on a 6 blowout deal and went back for it on 10/10, the last day of the voucher. I was going to combine it with another of their nickel and dime deals where the blowout wasn't included. Vicki, who I assume is the manager, nastily told me that I had none left. When I told her that she told me the week before that I had one more left, went downstairs in a huff and came back 10 minutes later with a printout to prove her point. She had circled 6 blowouts. At that point, I was so upset, that I just paid and left. When I got home, I looked at the printout again and saw that two of the blowouts had the same date and the order number was the same except she had transposed the last 3 number (917 became 791). I knew I had made another appointment on line but when I went on line to cancel, I found that all the past and future appointments had been wiped out. I emailed Groupon to complain and they gave me a $10 credit. So this morning, I get a text reminder about an appointment today, which is the one I went on line to cancel on 10/10. Their booking policy states you must cancel 12 hours earlier or there will be a charge. I checked on line, and lo and behold, my information was back, not all of it, but today's appointment was there. I cancelled it, and a message came up that I might be charged. My plan is to go in this morning and tell them exactly what I think and they better not charge me anything. I hope they have a store full of customers because everyone should know what they do. read more

I have been going to this salon for over 1 year for mani/pedi and have no complaints. I usually go in the morning and I'm first in and out. I originally started to go there b/c I bought a groupon for a massage. That was over a year ago. It was the best massage I've had. I also had no problems booking. Since hurricane Sandy, they haven't repaired the damage in the basement where they had the spa room. They will tell you to use one of their other locations until they are up and running there. read more

I bought a Groupon for here, $30 for 3 mani-pedis. Guess I can't really complain for that price, but I will anyway. Both my mani and pedi seemed really rushed. She messed up the polish on all my toe nails and had to fix them, and had to completely redo one big toe. Not too professional. My nails were filed crooked and not even. I got a gel manicure (paid $10 to upgrade) and it peeled off in 5 days. The people who worked at the salon were speaking in Korean to each other the whole time, which I thought was really rude. In the salon I normally go to, they speak Korean as well, but they also speak English to the customers so it doesn't feel like they're just sitting around talking about us. It definitely felt that way here. I'll go back for my other two mani-pedis, but that's it. read more

I wish there was a way of giving 0 STARS! HOW ON EARTH ARE THESE PEOPLE IN BUSINESS? For starters this place is DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY!! On top of that I arrived to boxes on top of boxes everywhere! Then my nail technician was beyond RUDE! For starters she stopped numerous times to text on her cell phone and make phone calls. She even stopped to show texts to another nail technician. Are you serious??? Then with the stone she cut up my pinky toe and my ankles. I had a wedding to be in 2 days later and the cuts she made were visible. When she painted my toes... it looked like my 2 year old did it. My skin around the nails were covered in nail polish and so were my cuticles. The nail polish is old, she also had to stop to add thinner to it. At the end I noticed that the nail polish wasn't shiny. She didn't even put a top coat. So since I wasn't paying extra at this place for anything.. I did it myself. What pissed me off even more was that 24 hours later I put on my shoes for the wedding to try on and the nail polish smudged! How on EARTH does 24 hour dried nails, smudge?? Crappy service with CRAPPY OLD NAIL POLISH. Onto my manicure.... It's been 4 days since my Gel Manicure was done and my nails are chipped. I asked for my nails to be CUT and I was told NO just file because they are short enough. Her opinion is NOT what I asked or paid for. Then she went on to talk about how bad my cuticles were. At that point I lost it and I told her... I didn't pay $10 for you to speak to me but to do my nails. Keep it at that!!! Not kidding... My nails didn't chip because the Gel they did (BSQ) is any less better than OPI but its because they are simply SUCK!! DONT GO HERE!!! THEY SUCK... "The Ritz?" !?!?! Are you Hallucinating?!? (to put it mildly) I know a lot of people can have different experiences depending on the day& there will always be mixed comments to anything, but This place is a Torture chamber. I, too, bought a Groupons: 2 Spa mani-pedi gifts & one classic for myself. When my adult daughter went she had trouble getting any appt. & the coupon expired so she had to pay more. She wasn't thrilled with the service, and said it was soo painful she limped out of the salon & fell. No one came to help her & her pedicure got messed up! A week later, my Never-complaining mother went, and was actually crying when her toes were done & legs beat up! Why she tipped them she can't figure out. I dreaded going because of those experiences, but I had paid for it. 1st, they were fast when I had to make an appt . But then I waited an hour to be taken. Very droll service (service without a smile), so I decided to just sit back & read a book. I told her NOT to cut my cuticles hand or feet, but she Insisted. Twice I said it & 3x I was in tears as my toes bled (& got infected the next day). I also said rounded nails & got something like octogon. This place truly went to shambles over the last years. When I first started going here it was a peaceful , very clean salon , the staff was always professional and did a good job, the only downside was the ability to get an appointment. They also had 2 awesome hairstylists that left my hair impeccable. I would buy their Groupons or deals they had and sometimes they would let me upgrade it and sometimes they wouldn't. The gel polishes were horrendous and applied too thin; a gel manicure would last me less than some manicures! The spa pedicures were great though. As the years went by they only had one nail technician working and recently the nail technician was also the receptionist. She did not seem as friendly as before and had a horrendous attitude. She practically yelled at my sister for coming late , yet she had no other appointments. The place itself was falling apart with these weird curtains. To top it off they also got rid of the hair stylists! No Groupon or any deal will get me to come back here. read more

It was difficult to schedule an appointment over the phone, on the website not many available choices for making the appointment at your convenient time. I got the gift certificate for my birthday, it took me 3 more weeks to schedule an appointment. By the time I came for my appointment, the staff members look like they are rushing somewhere. They were unfriendly and nasty. The person who did my manicure, cut my thumb and now its infected. Cant go to work with this hand, got a few days off. Terrible experience!!! I gave my daughter some groupon coupons for her 16th birthday. She went tonight with friends. They made the appointment at the location on Hylan but for the location on Forest due to the storm. They just got hold of me and said that when they "paid" with their coupons, the people added tax and a "MANDATORY" $20 tip. These are 16 year old kids, they gave them all the cash they had. I am so mad, and would not go back there. I have used group deal coupons at other spas and never did they add tax or tell me how much to tip. The girls were intimidated and embarrassed so they gave the money. I complained to groupon, and I suggest that others do as well! read more

I bought a Groupon for a swedish massage and a facial combo. Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem obtaining an appointment (booked it online) and the place was empty when I arrived. It was totally no-frills and I have my doubts about whether or not I was attended to by a person trained to do massage. There were just a lot of little things that were odd about the place (towels smelled funny, masseuse had a runny nose and kept blowing it, I kept hearing a man's voice in the hallway and the door to the room opened once when I was face down on the table, etc, etc) and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back for another massage. The facial was not bad, though, and if Groupon ever has another deal for a facial, I'd go back for that. The products used on my skin were organic and unscented and the woman who did the facial seemed to know more about doing that than doing a massage. read more

I've been coming to this place off and on for mani-pedi's since it opened because I live in the neighborhood. I am aware that they are a cheap no frills salon to be sure, but the customer service has really gone down hill in the past year. I tried to book an appointment online this morning but it said to call instead and because they are a block away I just showed up. I was treated like I was completely inconveniencing them to be there--even though NO ONE ELSE was in the place, and this is not the first time it has happened. They obviously don't think they need any new clients and don't like walk-ins, even though most of the employees seem to be doing nothing but sitting around, texting, watching tv or accepting shipments from UPS. I can tell that they've lost a lot of clients because the past two times I've gone, no one else was there and it's because of the generally poor customer service. If they want to just run a make up and beauty supply store, then why don't they just close up the salon? I definitely won't be coming back; you do get what you pay for. read more
