I finally got to try my local nail place! The location was super convenient and I was very happy with the way my mani/pedi turned out. I will say there is room for improvement in the cleanliness department and the remotes for the massage chairs desperately need to be replaced as they are completely covered in tape. I've lived in Petaluma for over 6 years now and Beauty Zone has consistently been my favorite nail salon in the area. I've tried others in the area, but keep coming back here for the cleanliness, service and proximity to my neighborhood. The space looks even better now after the remodel the did awhile back. The pedicure massage chairs are comfortable, as is the table seating and the place never has that gross chemical smell like other salons sometimes do. I mostly get gel manicures and regular pedicures and have always been satisfied with the quality and service. For a salon with so many nail technicians I can safely say there's only 1 I prefer not to use, all the others are great! Gel color choice is huge with both OPI and another brand offered. Beauty Zone does a great job and is reasonably priced. I usually leave with a fresh pedicure and gel nails for $70 with tip. Right on target with other salons in the area. read more

Went to Beauty Zone for many years. Was a steady, loyal, regular customer. They inadvertently overcharged me for a $25 gift certificate. When the bill came in, I took it over expecting them to fix it immediately because I was charged $75. I had paperwork, yet they fought me, argued, made me stand there for 15 minutes holding my ground, before they begrudgingly made it right. All for a lousy $50, which was an error THEY made. They acted suspicious of me and like I was trying to get away with something. I was so shocked at how I was treated that I haven't gone back. I have never been so disappointed and injured during a gel manicure and regular pedicure in my life. Let me say that there have been many occasions that I have gone to Beauty Zone in the past; there is one particular manicurist, by the name of Tracy, who does a lovely job with natural nails and gel. Unfortunately, even though I was promised an appointment with her today (that I had scheduled over a week in advance), the salon gave me a different woman. My usual manicurist was stationed right across from me and we occasionally made awkward eye contact as she witnessed the other woman butchering my fingers while I winced in pain. The manicurist I got this morning was incompetent, unsure of herself, she managed to injure me multiple times, draw blood from four of my fingers, and did a horrible job of executing the manicure I requested. She cut my nails too short, left them extremely sharp, then over filed them, and also did a poor gel paint job that is thick and misshapen. Even when I mentioned that Tracy was supposed to do my nails and cut them to their usual length and shape, the manicurist and pedicurist both snickered and made a comment about me letting another manicurist choose my nail length... Like it was absurd to put trust in a talented artist who knew how to work well with my nails. I know that there are times when a cuticle can get cut too far back which results in a bit of bleeding; however, this was absolutely ridiculous and so unsanitary since she just kept dipping my bloody fingers into the water container and smearing my blood around! On top of that, she also decided to answer a phone call... So she pulled out her cellphone, continued working on me while smearing my blood around, cut me again, and then finally hung up. So in other words, she cut me, touched her phone, my blood, her phone again, and then my open wounds. Any time I kindly and politely mentioned an issue with her work, she would get somewhat defensive and ask for the receptionist to talk to me for clarification. Even when I would protest for better service the receptionist would come over to smooth things out but never actually take care of the situation which left me vexed. At this point my fingers are extremely sore from the over clipping of my cuticles, tearing of my skin, the separation of my nails from my nail-beds, the deep slices in my fingers, and the continual dousing of acetone on my open wounds. I actually had to go home to disinfect and glue three fingers shut as they continued to bleed because of the deep canyons the manicurist filed into my skin... and now I am left with the crummiest manicure I have ever received. Not the end of the world, of course, but EXTREMELY disappointing. This whole experience has been so frustrating, too, because I have never had any major issues with this business in the past. I usually walk in with a smile and leave grinning at their work. Not the case today. Even the woman who did my pedicure filed my nails too far back and left me with crooked toenails--I have never seen that before! Maybe I was setup with a combination of newer employees...? Regardless, this treatment was totally uncalled for and inexcusable. To add insult to injury, when I asked the receptionist why I wasn't given the specific appointment and manicurist I requested and paid for, she looked back in her booking calendar and said, "Oh, yes. I see. Maybe next time. Just call and request her like you did." She offered no apology for the mistake and poor service but she no issue taking money from my beat up hands... Today's treatment was an absolute joke and totally irredeemable. As a customer who has been loyal and a generous tipper to Beauty Zone and its employees for years, I will be taking my business elsewhere after my experience this morning. For anyone that reads this review, know that there are very talented people working there; yet, there are an equal amount of poorly trained and/or apathetic employees that do not take the precautions to give a safe, sanitary, and pleasant service. What I witnessed today was inexcusable and there should be no reason to treat customers so poorly and charge so much. Please be cautious when choosing Beauty Zone. read more

I can totally see where some of these bad reviews came from. The first time I went in there on a Saturday afternoon and after lingering for a few minutes waiting for someone to say something to me, no one did so I finally left. I attempted to go back again mid-day during the week and no one else was there. Perfect! I got an amazing pedicure complete with a cool foot/leg massage, a real lemon scrubbed against my skin, and a great job on the paint/toe nail cutting/removal of toe crap. Personally I don't think OPI nail polish lasts that long and I think it's the only kind they have... so maybe I'd recommend bringing your own brand of polish if you only like going once a month. I went back a second time and saw a woman next to me getting her feet covered in wax. I thought that looked pretty cool and she spoke very highly of it and said it was only $5 so I asked to get that done too. The process itself was super interesting and basically made my feet feel like candles and afterward they were glowing and soft. When it came time to pay though it definitely wasn't only $5 though. I think my pedicure came to $33 or something total... $22 normally plus an extra $7 for the wax dip and an extra $5 for a salt scrub. I didn't realize when I asked for the wax dip that I also signed up for the salt scrub because the woman by me had gotten it too. So that threw me off but whatever, now I know just to stick to the basic pedicure. In conclusion, the pedicure itself is pretty awesome with clean bowls and a nice massaging chair but getting it can be a challenge at times. read more

I've been going to this salon since I was in high school 2004-2008 and they were always very nice, clean and knowledgeable. Unfortunately I've gone through some health issues leaving me in a wheelchair. Returning to this salon in a wheelchair was a big mistake. I didn't get the customer service that everyone else in the salon was getting. Then they sat me at the very last nail station and didn't even communicate with me for the next 35 mins. They were very rude like my wheelchair was a problem because they had to move one nail station about an inch and a half. As I was sitting there waiting I felt so ostracized and unwanted. I will never return even when I'm walking again. I'm not asking for much just to be treated like I used to be treated before I was in a wheelchair. read more

So extremely disappointed. I came here after multiple referrals and a lack of quality nail services in town. We decided to go for gel manis and pedis, as we are getting ready for a vacation in Hawaii. First, the water was so scalding hot that we were not able to put our feet in the tubs. After letting us sit there for about 15 mins for the water to cool, they were able to start. After choosing our colors, they continued to let us know that each was out of stock. About 5 colors later, they discouraged us from using the chosen color "because it doesn't look good painted on". Ok.. 7th colors a charm. Now, the manicure wasn't terrible. It actually lasted a week which is a long time for me. My friend and I, chatting away about our plans for the trip, looked down to realize they were filing and filing and filing away. Shocked, I asked them to PLEASE stop filing because they were about to file so low and break skin! When I realized they had filed the sides of my toes (big no-no) I was so upset, as I've been leaving them alone for awhile now to avoid an ingrown. End of story, I now have ingrown nails on both toes, one with an infection and so painful that it hurts to walk, sometimes swells up at the end of the day, throbbing in pain. Very disappointed that I have to deal with the long, painful grow out of ingrowns and especially right before heading to my rarely-taken vacation. Definitely will not be returning, nor referring. This place is pretty decent if you go during the day during the week, or early on a Sunday. Any other time, it's a zoo, and they RUSH through your service. I really dig that they pay attention to sterilization and cleanliness of the tools, foot basins, towels, etc. I've only had a regular mani/pedi there so I can't comment on their other services but it appears that they offer waxing, acrylic and gel nails, and color/cut service. The customer service is average, but it's probably due to the language barrier between some of the staff and clients. I've never seen any rude behavior, and they are always attentive to special requests like being careful on my leg where I've had a ton of surgery. They also carry a large selection of salon products at the normal salon mark up price. They are the only spot in Petaluma I've found that carries Enjoy haircare products. My favorites are Lily for pedicure and Lyn for a manicure. If you call ahead for an appointment you can request them. Overall a nice spot to have in this corner of Petaluma. read more

This place has spiraled and is terrible. My last two pedicures were the worst I've ever had. My toe nails were crooked, they cut my cuticles, one actually scabbed over and was gross. There is a terrible smell near the 4 th chair in. It was very strong the last 2 times I went in. The water was ice cold. I asked 3 times for it to be warmer (I swear- I'm easy to please, but it was freezing!) I finally just sucked it up and froze since she obviously didn't care. The foot "massage" at the end of the pedicure was pathetic- I could get one of my teenage boys to do it and they would put more effort into it. They used to be very clean- but now the place is filthy. The ladies used to be sweet- now they all seem to act like they are being forced to work there. I will NEVER go back. read more

It truly saddens me to write this review... but Beauty Zone is going downhill. I started coming here in 2013, and have had regular bi-weekly appointments since 2015. Their prices keep going up and the consistency of their work is unpredictable. My last 3 appointments have been disappointing to say the least. I waited 30 minutes for an appointment that I had called and scheduled a week in advance (and received zero apologies from the staff). They then proceeded to rush me through my appointment and did not shave down my acrylics properly. 2 appointments ago, my acrylics lasted 9 days. NINE! Mind you, my acrylics from here used to last 3+ weeks and I would remove them before they even showed signs of lifting. I was not rough on this particular set of nails, nor did I do any activities that would have caused them to lift so early. My most recent appointment was a disaster. I typically get gel polish, but for this appointment I went with regular, thinking I would save a few bucks. Boy, was I wrong! Prices have gone up yet again! Now $45 gets you a full set with regular polish - no massage, no removal of your previous set, nothing special. The lady not only cut 3 of my cuticles and shaved down part of my finger to the point of bleeding, but she also touched the polish before it was dry and left several impressions that she did not correct. Upon telling the owner's sister (who works at the desk & answers the phone), she said that it was my fault for keeping my nails too close to the fan - despite the fact that the nail technician placed my nails directly in front of the fan and told me not to move them. This caused air bubbles to appear within the polish and left tiny holes on my nails. Their solution was to add another clear coat - which did absolutely nothing. This set of acrylics lasted 13 days, which I suppose is a step up from the last set... Word around town is that many of the old employees quit due to a family restaurant opening, which is the reason why there are so many new & inexperienced technicians working. I'm not sure if this is true, but it would make sense and explain the irregular service. All I can say is that I will miss this salon, but I cannot keep wasting time and money on nails that won't even last 2 weeks... 2 of my family members (who visit this salon regularly) have also had bad experiences lately and will not be returning as well. Found this place by accident qbout a year ago and it is thw only place I get my gel manicures now! Gell already lasts longer than traditional polishes but some how they make it last longer! I can go 3 weeks to a month before it starts peeling or chiping what so ever! Most of the time i have to get my nails re done sinply die to the ammount they have grown out before the gel polish has a single problem. Very clean facility and the people are so nice! read more

Second time going here and they did a great job on my mani pedi. But when I was getting my gel manicure I got cut on two fingers from the file. I didn't think of it cause only one finger bled a little but it was bothering the whole day, felt like a paper cut. The women that did my pedicure was a bit rough as well. I'm visiting my mom and decided to get my nails done. I went to the closest place tp her house. What a mistake. I just went to get a basic manicure and pedicure with no polish. Pretty simple, don't you think? Pedicure was good, but the manicure is beyond belief. First she says short and I say just shorter. She cuts my pinkie nail all the way down. I tell her longer. Well all of my nails are as shorts as they can be. Then to top if off she doesn't know how to file nails. They were longer on one side and the sides were sharp at the corners. Unbelievable! I went to pay and $42.00 for basic with out polish is way, way to much money. I tell them it was the worst manicure I've ever had. They then have someone else refile. The place is beautiful. Was very disappointed with level of service and pricing. Gave two stars because the technician was kind Went in on a weekday morning 30 minutes after opening without an appointment. I don't mind waiting but should have been told there would be A thirty minute wait. Instead I am seated in a pedi chair with my feet in Luke warm water. 25 minutes later, water is cold and I am about to leave when someone finally comes to help me. I ask for French polishing. Usually this is done with a base coat of lightest pink and the white tipped nail. She did white tip on my bare nails with a clear top coat. I love having my feet wrapped in steamy hot towels, not here though. Very poor job and it cost 32.00! Big bonus if you pay cash they take off $2 ! Woo hoo....never again read more

My daughters and I came in for pedicures and manicures for the fourth, we were treated so terribly, the women doing my pedicure actually was getting angry with me for moving my feet because I am ticklish I also have nerve damage in that foot so it is hypersensitive which I explained to her , she huffed and puffed, rolled her eyes and shook her head at me. The lady at the front is very rude to customers and the lady doing my daughters manicure was hurting her and getting upset when my daughter said ouch that hurts. Anyway, Beauty Zone is super, no attitude, clean as a whistle, full service salon for pedicures, manicures, hair cutting, nails, etc. I am an older person (male) and the customer service aspect is perfect. They greet you at the door, schedule you promptly, and no one should have any complaints about what they offer. They are great. BTW, parking is easy, free, and there are other shops near there too in the same shopping complex in case you need a latte, groceries, a quick lunch, etc. I noticed a number of less-than-good reviews, usually centered around not being waited on right away. My advice, call in ahead of time. Or, go on a Monday or Tuesday instead of the weekend. I go every other month and using my own advice I never wait more than a few minutes. read more

BEWARE!!!!! If you think you are going to save a few dollars and just get a polish change with gel polish, think again. They seriously just charged me $30 to get a gel polish change when a full manicure with gel polish is 35. They don't even advertise it on their pricelist so charging this much is absolutely ridiculous. At the very least they should notify a customer before charging that price. I was very happy with the service but 2 1/2 hours later after pumping gas there is a huge smudge on my right thumb in the polish that still wasn't dry? I would go back but I do not have time for a redo. When I polish my own nails at home two coats are dry in under 10 minutes.... Came in for the first time in years since I didn't have time to go my usual place in Napa. I can't tell you how happy I am that I stopped in!!! I posted photos of the finish product. They are the black & white all different designs with the Jack Skellington theme. They're ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL & done so amazingly well!! Tom did my nails and Lynn did my pedicure. They both took their time & were so precise in their work. Everyone is so professional, very nice & clean! My nails (on both hands & feet) are beyond perfect & I couldn't be happier!
