Can't go to Canada without getting a Beaver Tail. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a walk up place where you can order and go or sit at one of the outdoor tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are an American pay by credit card otherwise your change will be Canadian.

We didn't have very long to explore Victoria on our recent cruise, but we were on a hunt for poutine. Luckily, my wife saw a sign for this place as we were exploring. They have several options for poutine, but we went with the traditional. They also have some sweet treats called beaver tails. We really enjoyed our poutine. The flavor was great and it was perfect temperature for a cool night.

By the time we walked here from port, there was a long line for this yummy snack. We ordered the very basic beaver tail to try and my family loved it all! I just felt like it was a little on the small size. It's a pretty small shop that offers a variety of beaver tails, hot dogs, smoothies, ice cream, and hot chocolate. There could be more but everyone was really there for the tails. It came highly recommended by a friend so we tried it. We enjoyed it and would come back again for a sweet treat if we weren't tourists!

Quick and tasty walk up service window. The food came out piping hot and the service was so friendly and amazing! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe around the shop is fun[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and what a cool surprise to try a beaverTail and a poutine COMBINED! I'd 100% stop in again.

We got here before the cruise ship rush. Nice place for a sweet treat. We were too full to try their poutine but the beaver tail was good. Only a couple tables in front of the stand.

While visiting Victoria we had to try out some poutine and beaver tails! Yelp results showed this as the best rated to where we were, and while the outside looked not that impressive - the food was good! Is this a chain? Probably. It gave me American Wetzel Pretzel/Hot dog on a Stick vibes but it did just fine for us since the food was a new experience. We got a hazelnut beaver tail which reminded us of a flat funnel cake and the poutine was fries with basic light brown gravy and chunks of mozzarella. Employees were nice, and service was prompt.

My first time eating poutine and it was delicious as was the frozen strawberry drink! Courteous staff as well.

Glad we came across this place. Poutine was good, had a lot of cheese curds on it. Fries and gravy was nice and hot. Lemonade was nice and refreshing. The rest of the food smelled really good. Had a few tables outside so we sat down and enjoyed. Redeemed our yelp bonus after checking in and got a hotdog too.

Brightly lit on a cold October night, we were drawn to Beavertails like moths to a flame. Not too much of a line, as the process to order food is quick. With the limited seating, most guests stood around the storefront eating their food and chatting with each other. THE FOODS | Beavertail pastries, poutine, hot dogs, and ice cream. I ordered... - Poutine | Thick fries topped with Quebec cheese curds which slowly soften but not quite melt; maintaining its squishy and chewy properties. Brown gravy is slathered on top and permeates into the fries. The dish is hearty and savory. A must try. - Beaver Dog | Hot dog warmly wrapped in their signature pastry which is slightly sweet. Add a little ketchup or dip it into the brown gravy from the poutine and you have yourself a real treat. THE BEAVERTAILS FEELS | An alcove with just enough interior space to take a few steps in to order at the front counter. A display case of ice cream flavors sits adjacent to the cash register. There's a red awning extending out onto the sidewalk where a couple of red tables and chairs are placed to sit and eat. The vibe is Canadian flare with a beaver plushy hanging out on top of the ice cream display case. THE PARKING SITUATION | Metered parking on the street. THE ORDERING LOGISTICS | Just line up and order or order through a food delivery app.

Conveniently located within Downtown Victoria, its one of those cheap snack/ dessert franchises you have to hit up just because it exists. Flat fried dough with a variety of sweet toppings doesn't get any simpler. Unless I've forgotten, I've had other locations where the dough had a more substantial bite. It makes the toppings cloyingly sweet and doesn't balance them out well enough. For a late night craving, it's just easy access at least.

Stopped here while on a cruise! First time having poutine and loved it! This is just a storefront so it's all outdoor seating in an area with other cafes/restaurants. There was a line when I got there but it went by super quick! Employees were really nice and made small talk with everyone asking people where they were from and such. If I'm ever back in Victoria I'll go back for more food!

    "Mehple" (maple)
    Amy P.

I visited Beaver Tails for the first time with a friend of mine as this was highly recommended to me for when I visited Canada. I ordered the "Mehple" which was just maple and powdered sugar and she got the strawberry cheesecake. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Beaver Tail but I reminded me of a funnel cake. I thought it was pretty good. I'd like to try other flavors before I decide one way or the other though. I thought the maple was good, but definitely a bit plain. Otherwise service was good and the space was clean with a few chairs to sit in. As a bonus though, you get 10% off your order if you check in on Yelp, so that was a nice treat too!

It's right in the main tourist area so it was really easy to find. The menu is extensive and has a ton of options so it was hard to pick what to get. I got a chocolate cone with the brownie dip. My husband got a vanilla cone with the praline dip. And my toddler got a cup of chocolate ice cream with the chocolate dip. We all enjoyed what we ordered. It was super rich and delicious. However it was really messy so it was hard to not get it all over yourself and you had to eat it quickly. My only complaint was we ordered 3 different sizes (the smallest one they had and the next two sizes up) and they were all about the same size. For the expensive price, it was a bit frustrating to pay for a small size but get the same size as the smallest one they offer.
