The big pull with Beckett Park is the very fact it's almost within spitting distance of Leeds Met Uni campus. It's a perfect meeting point for a nice picnic with friends, especially if they've finished classes up early for the day and the British weather is being favourable. There's plenty of room to sit down and relax whilst catching up or just reading a book, or even people watching. On brighter days Beckett Park attracts small footy teams indulging in topless 5-a-side, or general tomfoolery, which is fine with me, as I must say I've never seen anyone floating around absolutely hammered, upsetting folk and causing havoc, so it scores kudos points for a low trouble factor. There's the odd couple sneaking off for a smooch in the wood, but as long as I don't have to stumble into full blown exploits, I don't mind. We're only young once right? The Christmas snow did provide endless amusement, as the curve of the landscape provides span enough for snow based hilarities, be you wrapped up warm chortling at the unfortunate bottom bruising taking place, or jumping inside a bin liner, nothing above the waist mind, and skidding all over the show.
