The demographics are rooted in the fact that people aren't spending that money on beer like they used to. And, they're going for specialty drinks which are higher in volume of alcohol while probably spending near the same amount of money. Places nearby that are worth your time as far as beer and entertainment would be Mad Hatchet brewing which is more or less around the corner in Shorewood, and Werkforce Brewing which is just off the main part of downtown in Plainfield.
