The greens were as good as I've seen in the surrounding area (Laporte to Elkhart), and the driving range is average. The putting green was true to the actual greens. The clubhouse and Pro Shop were nice. My biggest concern is that the fairways were very dry, and the ground on the tee boxes were as well. The fairways that did have grass were cut a bit long for my liking. Overall, for the price we paid it wasn't a bad day. Although we did get behind some VERY slow groups, we completed 18 in under 4 hours. For the price, I recommend this course. The best thing is the chance to complete holes 3-6 without penalty, as they call this "Escaping Alcatraz". Hole #3 is a par 3 with an Island green, a very small one I might add. It takes a very skilled shot to stick this green (I failed, but this was my only Alcatraz flub). The sign explaining this experience needs to be updated, as it looks to be about 30 years old. We had a good experience, may return in the coming years. Recommended for the casual golfer/weekend warrior. We did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it looked like a quality place. I would give 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm upgrading to 4 due to the condition of the greens and the Alcatraz challenge.

It is a challenging yet playable course for someone like me. Staff was great. I really enjoyed the island green hole on number 3. Challening and fun. The next is equally as challenging, although it's a par 5. You have trees on one side and the road right on the other side of the fairway. Had to hit a couple of tee shots the last time since I placed one that bounced squarely on the road. I went out with a couple of foursomes, since we had a quasi work group outing. We had a good time and no one felt like this was a course out of their league. Yet it was still challening and fun to play for the better golfers in the group. Nice golfing experience. I want to take my father-in-law the next time we go.

Also, by having a choice of wine in the cart that has plenty of beer, Legacy Hills would signal more clearly that female golfers are welcome. La Porte is an understated spot in the area - golfing there is a pleasure!

That's right folks you heard me sewer besides the breakfast was the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life if you want oatmeal, you don't get hot water And if you want a plate, you have to go from one end of the room to the other and if you want boiled sausage, well good luck and flat frozen fried disgusting eggs. This place is ridiculous. Door keys worked one time and then never again so we had to keep getting…read morethem reactivated and even after they were reactivated they still didn't work. After the third time the EXTREMELY RUDE lady at the front desk came up and tried three different cards and said the battery needed to be replaced and she was going to get the maintenance man to take care of it. I asked for a new room and she said she didn't have any rooms because they were full and I didn't need a new room the battery just needed to be replaced. After a half hour of sitting in the hall waiting we went back to the front desk to tell them nobody had come to let us in our room. Only after we told them I had medication in there I needed to take did they finally send somebody up with a key. The maintenance man came up too but never came all the way to the door to check it. An hour later and nobody had come to fix the door so we went back down to the front desk to ask about it because we were stuck in the room because we couldn't leave with the door not working. They gave my boyfriend keys to a new room (meaning she had lied to me when she said they didn't have any rooms) and the maintenance man said he couldn't fix our door (meaning she lied when she told us he could). So if we had never gone down there to ask about them fixing the door they clearly had no intentions of doing anything about it at all. When she gave my boyfriend the keys she told him she never wanted to see his face here again. He came back to the room and told me we had to switch rooms so I packed everything up and we went to the new room and the keys worked but that room was already occupied! Our friends door didn't even lock from the outside so you didn't even need a key to get in, anybody could just push down on the handle and walk right into their room. Freezing cold everywhere except the rooms where you can control the heater. Walked in the room for the first time and there was garbage on the floor of the bathroom. Refrigerator froze everything. When the room door closed it didn't close all the way so you had to push it shut. You can stand in the hallway and hear everybody clearly through their closed doors and you can hear everything in the hallway from inside your room because of the one-inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. You can hear people in the next room using their toilets through the bathroom pipes. Their only elevator was out of order. ATM was out of money. Garbage cans in hallways were giant rubber outdoor garbage cans. Hallway by the reception desk smelled like a gas leak and staff didn't show any concern about it and we were told it was probably the kitchen... which was closed and didn't serve breakfast because they didn't have enough staff to work it. Extremely rude staff. This place is a joke. I reluctantly pushed the one star because it doesn't let you post a review with zero stars. Unbelievable that the doors to this dump are even open.
