Since it wasn't a Saturday, it was actually nice being able to take my time and look around without the store feeling chaotic. I originally went in for one pillow that was already around 30% off, which was a great deal on its own, but definitely check the clearance section at the very back of the store. I ended up finding almost the exact same pillow in another color for about 75% off, which was honestly such a lucky find. If you like home decor deals and don't mind digging a little through clearance, this location is worth checking out. Definitely one of the better experiences I've had at a home store lately and I'd 100% come back.

He knows his stuff, and is always happy to help. Upstairs, where the gifts and housewares are found, is home to what I can only describe as *the* best selection of gifts for hard to shop for hipsters and grandparents ever... Anyway it seems Montreal doesn't have a lot of places that sells that but saw online that Hogg hardware does since it's part of the Home Hardware group. Went in, ordered it, got a call 2 days later to pick and it wasn't expensive at all. The guys are also really nice but while I was waiting around I saw a ton of cool stuff for the home including soy candles, funky door handles and coat hooks, and stuff you'll never see at Home Depot. I used to buy soy candles at Winners (since soy doesn't produce soot and burns cleanly), but increasingly they don't carry them anymore and instead have "hand-poured" candles ( what the hell is that supposed to mean if it doesn't change the fact that it produces soot?) but now at least I can get some here at a reasonable price. There's a reason why it's located in Westmount and also Nun's Island, it's definitely more bourgeoisie and less blue-collar.

It was subsequently installed by one of their technicians. The first issue we encountered was their double charging my VISA account for the purchase, the charges being made several months apart! They did not make it easy to have the double charge reversed although I gave them all the details they needed to affect the reversal. It took them much too long, putting unnecessary stress on me. As a senior couple, we were having difficulty hearing the voice clearly when watching regular TV programming. This model has a feature called "clear voice" as well as a feature called "surround sound". After months of use, we found that the "surround sound" feature overpowered the "clear voice" feature rendering it totally ineffective. However, we do not know if the "surround sound" feature can be disabled. We are now at the second issue. I thought it normal and practical to call the vendor, Environment, and seek help. So, this week I called on Wednesday, spoke to an employee, explained the problem, and was asked to leave a message and a service person would call me the next day. I repeated the process, with the same no results on the second day and then called again on the third day. Each day, a different employee at Environment answered my call. By the third call I was frustrated and agitated so, when the employee gave me the same "story" I was not as calm as on the previous days and left the same message. Not fifteen minutes later, I received a call back from a rude, irritated person who identified himself as Dave Smith who I knew to be the owner of Environment based on the fact that we had been cordial neighbours on the same street for over 30 years. I was shocked and appalled to be spoken to like that, chewed out and then to be told "and don't ever call back" and hanging up. Very mature and business like. Would you deal with such a store when there are so many others available in Montreal?

They've evolved way beyond the clusters of Edison bulbs that are pretty ubiquitous now and if I had hundreds of dollars to spend on custom gorgeous art pieces to light my home I'd have one in every room. Here, you can look at them all you want and you'll be floored at the bargains you'll find, no joke. Shivam Imports is normally a wholesaler but they do sell to individuals and the prices are more than reasonable for the sorts of pieces in their showroom, but you need to make an appointment to visit their showroom (at the moment). So despite the appointments and out-of the way location, it is well worth your while to stop in and have a good look. You won't regret it. First off, this ain't no IKEA. You'll find hand-carved teak tables, antique mirrors, crazy pillars which look like the belong in a palace of some Maharajah, antique finished cabinets, candle-holders, unique pieces like wooden headboards. Stuff no one you know will ever have because everything here is so individual and unique. If you're like me and don't like generic anything, love old-fashioned quality then you'll just love it here. Andrew the owner is a really chill, easy-going guy and often buys pieces directly in India and makes trips several times a year there. If you're thinking of re-decorating, need some ideas or inspiration or looking for that one unique mirror to place in your room or a conversation-piece coffee table, look no further.
