this was such a cute little place, i'm really glad i had the opportunity to give it a shot! i ordered the salmon and got the roasted sweet potatoes and seasonal vegetables as the sides and everything was delicious! the fig marmalade was super tasty, the salmon was cooked well and had a really nice flavor. i loved the sweet potatoes and i'm very happy with my choice. i also got a glass of red sangria and it had a couple slices of apples soaked in it. our server was really nice too, very attentive and polite. she recommended the tasting experience more than once and told my date and i that it was a great way to sample a lot of the menu. all in all, i think this was a great spot, even though i do think it was a fair bit pricier than i think it was worth. read more

Spend your money elsewhere. Order: Sangria, Mussles in wine, Picanha hot stone + shrimp. Finished appetizer, waited 15 min, Sangria never came- told waitress to just cancel it. Stone was not hot enough to sear meat (photo), asked for second stone, waited 10 min- still not hot enough; 8 min of cooking for $24 steamed 6oz meat. Waitress argued that it WAS hot enough, blamed me for not cutting it in pieces. I did not eat the Picanha. Politely asked to speak to manager. Owner handled resolution very poorly; was not apologetic, did not care why I was dissatisfied- just comped the meal & in polite words told me to GTFO. Would've had no problem paying for what I ate. Came here really excited- not looking for a free meal. Go support a business that cares about their patrons' feedback, preserving their reputation & holding a quality standard. We drove slowly around the parking lot and there was no signage for the restaurant. Annoying. I called and told the owner that they needed to do better. Wonderful experience. The meal was one of the best I've ever had. Balcoulou was absolutely delicious! Reminded me of my mom's balcoulou from probably 40 years ago. Pichana was absolutely amazing as well. The balsamic reduction was so good. Sides were very flavorful; mashed potatoes, rice & black beans, roasted vegetables, roasted garlic potatoes. I tried a bite or two of the paella and it was also absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable. Our waitress was excellent. Lovely live music playing. Nothing rushed, very relaxing evening. They brought us complimentary appetizers, including hummus and a dish called "Queijo De Cabra Gratinado Com Mel E Nozes," which was a fig-infused goat cheese drizzled with honey, walnuts, and a tart balsamic reduction, served with crispy toasted bread. The food was seasoned perfectly, it was so hot and fresh and you can tell it was made with genuine love and consideration. Xander is a legend. He helped us with all wines as he is 1 of 4 Wine Sommelier and a great one at that. The staff is beyond amazing and the drinks are to die for. We came here for Sunday brunch. The place wasn't extremely packed. We had to wait and were quickly seated. Their menu is small and they had no appetizers. You can order from their full bar menu but they only list bloody Mary's and mimosas on the menu. I started with a Bloody Mary, which was sad to see no garnishes. However, it was delicious and all the drinks were definitely gracious pours. I ordered the piri piri chicken Benedict. It was fantastic. Beautiful presentation, great taste! The service was pretty bad. They did seem short staffed. But several times I asked for something and didn't get it. First a straw, so I got up and grabbed one from the bar. Second, ketchup for the potatoes. There is also no salt and pepper on the tables. There was no dessert options either. I'd go back to try dinner, but their brunch scene & service needs a few upgrades. read more

So happy to see Bela Lisboa back open after the fire last year--and honestly, they've come back better than ever. They used their off time to really elevate their menu and beverage program. They are now one of the few restaurants in Chattanooga with a sommelier, who recommended an excellent bottle of wine for us (Tip: Half priced bottles on Thursdays). We asked the server for their guidance in ordering... we are so glad we did because their chef put together a little tasting menu for us. There was not a single thing of the 14 we tasted that we would not order again but I will mention our most favorite. The salted cod and prawn apps were great but we loved the fig infused goat cheese. Loved the baby spinach salad and seafood bisque. The risotto with scallops were really yummy but the standout was the Fruits of the Sea (think seafood stew). I will crave this one! We finished things off with delicious Blueberry brown sugar cake, divine chocolate mousse with flaked salt, and a chocolate ganache to die for. We WILL be back, and often!! read more

We eat at Bela Lisboa at least once a month or more. The food is always above my expectation in taste and presentation. They have an excellent selection of Portuguese wines. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is very romantic. I am looking forward to the reopening in July. DISH SUMMARY - Mussels Appetizer - Squid Ink Pasta - Fig skewer - Complementary hummus Truly such an amazing experience. The ambiance is great and SO clean, and the server was so kind, informative, and accommodating. The restaurant is a bit dark and moody, but it really ads to the environment and aesthetics. They also play Portuguese music (and some Brazilian...) on the speaker! So it really felt like an authentic experience, speaking as someone who has been to the Mediterranean European countries. Loved the squid ink pasta, it has a very strong garlic w/ a bit of truffle flavor, but it's acidity is a different "color" than the tomatoes with it. So trying them together was a fantastic experience. It truly didn't feel like each bite was monotonous in flavor, as if it kept getting better the more I ate it. Beware! It can stain your fingers a bit, I knew full well this expectation, however! The mussels appetizer is great too! I really love love love acidic and garlicky foods, so this one was a delight. Mussels were cooked perfectly and assumed such a wonderful flavor in the sauce. The complementary hummus was really good, Also had the fig skewer for dessert, and it had such a beautiful flavor profile. It comes with apple slices (which really helped kind of "pace" myself with the richness of the flavor), and it's skewered on the rosemary which also adds a nice touch to cleanse my palette at the end. The goat cheese is SO RICH and beautiful with the fig. I also adored the presentation....! Hats off! My only complaint is that the price is a bit too high even for the skill & tenure of the dishes but I think this is just because I'm used to eating at Mediterranean restaurants overseas that are much cheaper, hahah...! read more

I am not the usual person to leave a bad review however there was a "straw that broke the camels back moment" that compelled me to leave this review. My wife and I had reservations last weekend and arrived 5 minutes early and were promptly seated near the kitchen. My wife and I have a standing rule that if waitstaff doesn't initially acknowledge you in 8 minutes, you leave. I should have stuck to our rule and none of this would have happened. We stayed at the restaurant for over 2 hours waiting on food and drinks (just one drink a piece). As for food quality some of the mussels were shriveled on the paella and the shrimp had a mushy consistency as if the shrimp was previously defrosted and not cooked properly . We dared not ask for anything else in fear of staying longer than 3 hours. The restaurant was over half full at best. I did overhear that the restaurant did open back up after a car fire but if you weren't ready for half a restaurant of people turn them away. The "straw that broke the camels back" was that I checked my credit card receipt and was charged another $2 more on my tip. I know that $2 isn't much folks but the principal of the matter is that someone changed my tip amount which I equate to dishonesty. read more
