In summary a good little shop, offering real customer service in what is really a mass market industry for Valentines Day - would hearlty recommend and will visit again.

This is the sort of shop that wants everyone to be a bit of a smooch but unfortunately most people are men so chances are they aren't ever going to be that busy. It never seems that busy which is unfortunate but it is a terrific little shop and definately worth a visit.

Every time I go into Euro Flowers, they seem to have diversified into another range of goods. What stays as a permanent range is the garden furniture, plant pots, shrubs and compost. I prefer not to get my hands dirty and tend to buy ready potted shrubs for the garden and have always been pleased with my purchases, particularly the 2 olive trees which sit prettily at my front door. Except when it's windy when they could be anywhere in the street. The garden furniture is fabulous - really sturdy good quality wood at prices which aren't bargain basement but which are good for the quality. There is often a display set going cheap if you're looking for a bargain and the end of the summer is good for clearance lines. This is also the place for you if you're going to splash out on a jungle gym for the kids. Inside the shop you'll find a slightly bizarre selection of stuff for the home from furniture to small toys and gardening gloves and tools. A little bit strange but worth a browse and prices are low.

It's the type of place you would go in to with your girlfriend, wife, sister or even mother and they'd point out all the flowers and trinkets and say, 'Awk isn't that cute?' to which you'd nod back agreeing. So what brought such a manly man like myself to The Flower Room I hear you ask? Well, I was looking for boxes, not manly wooden boxes but the wee cardboard types you can put gifts in. I thought The Flower Room would be a good bet to get them because they have a whole array of gifts arranged beautifully out the front of the shop. As soon as I walked in to the shop, which is a converted terrace house, I heard a big 'Hello' coming from upstairs and a 'Can I help you?' Kathryn the owner then rushed down to see if she could help in my quest for a box. She literally hunted in her storeroom to see if she could help me and when she couldn't she listed loads of other shops that I might be able to get the desired box. This was absolutely remarkable service. I actually ended up chatting to her for a while - she was telling me that The Flower Room specialise in Weddings but are busy for the impending Valentines Day as well as other 'flowery' holidays. The shop is beautifully arranged and I would suggest going in just to experience the warmth atmosphere on offer. It's a great place if you needed to get an arrangement of flowers or even garden pots and simple house plants. Could be useful for that last minute birthday or leaving gift. By my standards it was a little expensive but the arrangements are beautiful and very professional.

In saying that, Au Naturale is a particular favourite of mine when it comes to buying things for the home because it has everything from cups and mugs to art canvases and pillows. My girlfriend bought herself a huge mirror (as every girl should have) and after two years it still looks great in her room. Au Naturale also has a bunch of offers on usually and I got a fleece blanket from them for only a few quid which made all the difference when it came to trying to get out of bed first thing in the morning. Needless to say, I struggled and it was entirely the blanket's fault. Certainly one of my favourite shops in Belfast and well worth a look.

I'd got her this fab mug (from Eden Pottery...there's a review for that!), but was struggling to find the second part of the present. Eeeek. Along came Willow Gifts. I was actually going to leave after having a quick look round, but something told me to investigate the shelves at the window. And there it was! A football card game. Perfect. As I grabbed the game and wandered over to the till, I stopped to admire the various job entitled keyrings, and picked up one for my dad. For a whole 50p... The lady at the till was so lovely, and her and I had a good ten minute chat about dads and jobs. Very pleasant lady indeed. Saved...by the Willow.
