I was disappointed with my experience at this shop. I brought my vehicle in for a diagnosis, but the mechanics were unable to identify the problem. Despite not providing a diagnosis, I was still charged for the time spent driving the vehicle, which also used some of my fuel. I understand that intermittent vehicle issues can be difficult to diagnose, but I believe customer service could have been handled better in this situation. A diagnosis is the primary service I came in for, and since no diagnosis was provided, I don't feel the charge was justified. A more customer-focused approach would have been to explain that the issue could not be reproduced at the time and suggest returning if the problem became more frequent or asking me to record the sound when it occurred. That would have demonstrated honesty and a genuine effort to help resolve the issue. read more

Took our vehicle in to fix the leaking oil sensor. Mechanic called and asked what type of oil I wanted as he was going to change it at my request. I specifically asked for CASTROL which sells locally for $26 per 5 qts. Mine takes 6. I was charged over $25 per quart as well as a very high mechanic fee. They don't wear masks but they are truly bandits! MAKE SURE TO GET QUOTE FOR EVERYTHING! even if you know the costs. read more

I wouldn't use them if you can avoid. Took car in for one thing. Got an up-sell I took that I now question. The bill was nearly one grand. Get the car back, 2 days in, it has a problem. Somewhat common but never had that problem before, and she's an oldie, had her since birth (know the car like the back of my hand). The new issue can be related to the one they just repaired. No big deal. Bring it back and an alarm sounded when the first thing that popped up was "let's see what's going on", reply, "start with what you just repaired 2 days ago as they are related". Return reply "let's maybe start with....", return reply again, "start with what you just repaired". A few days later the call comes in you need xxx...another $500. I said what? And the diagnosis seemed incorrect. I replied "I didn't have that problem before, ever; add, it was fine up until you had it". I then said "I'll be by to pick it up". When picking it up I was hit with a surprise "troubleshooting fee" that was NOT disclosed at any time prior or during the car was in their possession. That fee...nearly $100 but was not paid. Picking the vehicle up, I immediately looked into the problem (should've done that first to avoid this/them after the first questionable occurance) discovered a few things, went the cheapest easiest route first of course and that fixed the problem. Remedy Getting air out of the system that was introduced by them when doing the initial work. Replace a simple cap; refill what was lost or no longer in the tank after picking it up from the shop the first time when the initial work was done. This measure was done being it was only $10 and as they say, if it's cheap, replace it anyway being it is cheap and just might fix your problem. Re-fill fluid. Time - 30 mins. Time for all (research, purchases etc.) 3 hours. Should've taken them 30 mins I'll give em an hour max. Being they messed up and didn't do the job right there should've been no charge. Instead? Nearly $100 for a system scope, even after a job they just did. $500 for an item that was working fine. Overall They should not have asked for a check system fee being it was their poor work that was the actual problem. They wanted to charge the $100. They would've installed the wrong part and not install the right part (a cap) OR just bleed the system. Instead, they wanted $500 to do the wrong work. This is after discussing possible problems (again, I know my car and about them in general) and asking them to check a couple of things including and mainly their own work, which they didn't and was the problem. My bill would've came out to nearly $1,500. I saved myself from a $600 rip job. The balance? I question the last quote and work thinking then and now I didn't need the up-sell. In the end I feel they indeed try to scam me and it's good I caught it and didn't get scammed. Were you so lucky?? Avoid them if you can. read more

The Belgrade Garage crew saved the day not once but twice. We were 1,000 miles into our Alaska road trip when our 2002 Roadtrek Chevy 190 started making a squealing noice. We pulled into a Chevy dealership in Bozeman, Montana but they couldn't assess the problem and they called Belgrade Garage for us. Belgrade Garage kindly said they would help. Their customer service is on point! They noticed a water pump leak, fixed a pulley and replaced our fan belt. Within 4 hours they had us in and on our way. We got on the highway and our darn Roadtrek started acting up again. We turned around and headed back to the shop. They were quick to get her back in the garage and start troubleshooting. Paul is a very nice guy.....the good experience ends here. I brought my car in once and received good service at a fair price for a minor repair and talked them up to one of my employees. My employee took his car in to see these guys. Experience 1 (800.00): employee took his truck in 3 times and 800.00 and 3 weeks later they broke more than they fixed. They refused to fix what they had broken and said sorry we can't help you. Now his truck has no working gauges (which worked before he took it in) but at least runs now. Bad service when they fix one thing ,break another and then refuse to fix what they broke. Experience 2 (800.00): I took my wife's car in to have some leaks taken care of. We got the car back and the car was still leaking in the same spots on the floor. I talked to Paul and he said bring it in, we will look at it and see what's going on. Experience 3 (800.00): I took my wife's car back in and apparently none of the things that they previously fixed were broken. Now we needed a major overhaul of the transfer case, transmission pan was bent and leaking, thermostat was bad, thermostat housing was leaking, water pump was leaking, etc... We paid to have these leaks fixed (accept the water pump) and when we got it home it was still leaking. Experience 4 (400.00): I took my truck in to have a connector fixed under the valve cover. They fixed that but broke the connector to my A/C compressor. A/C did not work. I took it back in and asked them to have a look at it ( at this point I had no idea the plug was broken) They / I found the broken plug and his response was "So do I owe you a new plug?" This is after a recommendation to use super glue to fix it. I super glued it because they were not going to "fix" anything on my truck again. You have to replace the compressor side of the plug to fix what they damaged. After Experience 3 we took the Jeep to the Jeep dealership to get a second opinion. We did not mention anything about having certain things fixed previously. Apparently Belgrade Garage missed a leaking trans cooler at the core. The transfer case did not need a major overhaul, The transmission pan we had replaced (because of a leak) was not the problem. Keep in mind that we also paid for a flush and fill (again not necessary). They missed the fact that on top of the transmission there was a sensor and a bushing with two O rings that needed to be replaced. That was the source of the leak, not what they "fixed". So we paid 1,600.00 bucks for them to hit or miss diagnose and repair things. I am sure that some of them needed to be fixed but I am also sure that some of them did not and three visits to have what should have been done the first time is one too many. Sounds a lot like my employees experience so I have no faith that they will refund any money and make it right. I would stay away from these guys. We are now paying the dealership another 800.00 to fix the actual problems. read more

I really like this shop in the way that they are very transparent. They answer all of the questions I have while my car is being worked on, and allow me to visit my car during the process of being fixed. They will actually bring me the part that is broken on my car, and make it very clear as to exactly what this part does. We broke down on the side of the highway at around 7 PM during our move from Alaska to D.C. A local man stopped by and recommended Belgrade Garage. When the tow truck driver arrived later he confirmed that if his car breaks down that is where he goes. The advice was spot on. They had the alternator and battery replaced and car ready to go by noon the next day.
