When Gary turned up, he was on time, polite and explained everything that he was going to do. I didn't think that a brand new car could look better then from the showroom, but Gary surprised me with his dedication to the finer details. I am so impressed that I have recommended Empire to all my friends and family. Thank you Gary + Louise

I used GSF to MOT my Renault car. The vehicle failed on brakes and deteriorated CV boots. I was…read morequoted £1,000 to get this fixed. It felt this was expensive so I called around and took the car elsewhere to get repaired. On inspection they said the CV boots were clearly in excellent condition and just needed new clips to crimp them to the drive shaft and stop the small weep of grease. They carried out this work and also replaced the brakes (disks and pads) at a cost of £280. An almost 4 times reduction from what I was quoted! As a result I was down by the cost of an MOT (£54.85) and a lot of wasted time & effort. Be wary of any quotes for repairs and shop around for competitive prices.

Approach with extreme caution…read more Have used them for some time but increasingly become suspicious. Their labour rate is now £150 ph + VAT and they run up a lot of hours. I had a problem with the transmission control unit of my 13 yr old Mercedes S class which I had had from new. Last year they sent the part off for repair on 2 occasions after both of which it failed again (temporary breakdowns on all occasions). Finally they fitted a new one (after a long wait) deducting the cost of the previous repairs. It failed again this year, was sent off to a Mercedes dealer for warranty repair. I heard nothing for 6 weeks apart from the fact that the dealer had found 2 additional faults which needed repairing at a cost of £1100 or so. But they had no date for the TCU replacement. Then suddenly the car is back with GSF from the dealer (who had just been replaced by Mercedes) with the TCU supposedly replaced. GSF then tell me that one of the 2 additional faults was actually fine, but that there was an ABS issue that needed fixing as part of/before they could check that the TCU was now OK. This would cost another £1200, and another delay of a few weeks. Plus £800 odd for 1 additional fault that was genuine. (Note that when I complained about the two new repairs needed which I originally approved, they said I didn't have to go through with them but would have to reimburse them for the parts they had ordered in. Yet one repair was not required.) Fed up with being carless and worried about yet more bills I agreed to sell the car for what they claimed was a fair price, the anticipated fair trade-in price less the cost (to me) of the expected repairs. It transpired that the buyer was one of the GSF owners - so hardly a trade-in price. I am left feeling that I have been cheated by Mercedes and their dealer in not promptly honouring their warranty on the TCU, and inventing unnecessary repairs; and by GSF in the way they pile on repairs making my car "worth nothing" but still good enough for one of the partners to buy it for himself. But at least I will never have the stress of having to deal with this outfit ever again.
