During the recreational seasons and at the beginning of the competitive season things were ok however, the moment I began asking questions and voicing my opinion, which I am entitled to as I am a paying customer to Thrive, things took a turn in a negative direction. Regarding hair and makeup, instead of giving a directive based on her vision for the dances and costumes, Ms. Andrea allowed the parents to decide. In my opinion, this is a flaw because when you are dealing with a group of 8+ girls, you face several opinions which can make it challenging to agree and at the end of the day, the parents aren't in her head to know what her "vision" is for the dances. Should Ms. Andrea have given instructions on exactly what she wanted the "look" to be, several disagreements could've been avoided. In addition, she lacks to communicate effectively with parents and can be vague with responses, and counts on other parents to respond when at the end of the day she is the director, owner, and teacher at Thrive. She should dedicate half of the time that she puts into making TikTok's with her favorite dancers to preparing communications with important details such as looks for competition to avoid any confusion instead of sending responses such as "What did we do last time?" and if she is overwhelmed then she needs to seek/hire help. At the end of the day, how she runs her business is what is going to keep her business going, not TikTok or Instagram. Despite her responses to other reviews, she does indeed show favoritism towards other dancers and families in the studio. When you disagree with her, she treats your child differently and barely shows common courtesy of even saying a simple "hello", mind you, you are the paying customer. Ms. Andrea would often send Ms. Jalin or one of the teen dancers to open the door when I would arrive with my daughter to leave her for dance. Not only did she act differently with my child but some of the parents and their children did as well... this speaks volumes of their character. After I expressed my opinion, Ms. Andrea informed me that I was questioning her integrity, which by the way is how you do things and morals are indeed questionable, especially in today's society. She gave me an ultimatum, not considering my daughter only her ego. This goes to show that she does not truly care for all of the dancers, only those she favors. This is a display of lack of professionalism. Lastly, I decided to leave the studio a few months back and took my daughter to audition at several other studios only to find out that my daughter is behind as she is not being taught the basics at Thrive. That being said, if you are looking for an affordable recreational studio then this might be the one for you however, if you are looking for a professional studio because your child is a passionate dancer this is not the one for you. I am not one to leave reviews however, I am truly disgusted with the services received and that is indeed the case in this situation don't pay attention to those five-star reviews which were made by an employee and her "teacher's pet".

TRX is a set of strength building exercises that essentially allow you to work with your own body weight. I love it! Oksana (the owner) is a great instructor! She explains all exercises and, if needed, shows how to do them. She also motivates and encourages. I don't think I would stick to exercising regularly (oh, don't judge me now...) if it wasn't for Oksana. I also take belly dancing classes with Yulia - she is great, very friendly and nice. The atmosphere during the classes is fun too - the instructors keep it light and enjoyable. They also have other classes which I didn't try (pole dancing, fitness, stretching etc.). The pricing is average and flexible - you choose the option that fits your needs and schedule. Overall I highly recommend checking out this studio!

After…read moreI posted my original review on Google earlier today, I received rude, insulting, and shaming messages from the owner Oksana on Instagram, which she since has "unsent" from the Instagram chat. Rather than trying to work with me to resolve the situation, she chose the path of unprofessionalism and shaming. This included Oksana sending a message and the screenshot of my Google review in a group chat with the other students that were in the beginners classes with me. Screenshots on this review include: Part of messages where Oksana refuses to honor the terms of the Groupon I had already purchased (yesterday); Her private messages to me shaming me (today); the terms of the Groupon. Oksana was at the studio at least one of the times I took classes and did not introduce herself to the students. The bathroom was out of toilet paper, out of soap, dirty, and really unkept (pieces of wood in the corners, no door/curtain on the AC unit closet, mop bucket right next to the toilet). I should have seen these as red flags, but I really enjoyed Marina's classes so I expected to continue being a client at the studio. This is the hardest review I have ever had to leave, as I really enjoyed Marina's classes. However, the owner of a business should never treat anyone this way. I hope this review can help avoid others being treated this way. For further clarity, Oksana refused to honor the terms as stated in the Groupon I had paid for. I was not asking for anything except to be given what I had purchased. Screenshot of the listing included in this review was also sent from me to Oksana when we were messaging, and she still refused to honor it. The Groupon I purchased stated that 1 person could purchase it up to 4 times in a 365 day period. There was nothing anywhere (including at the studio) that indicated otherwise. Not honoring the Groupon as I purchased it is unfair to the client and is not proper business practice. Forcing me to choose between getting a refund or giving it to someone else for their use is poor customer service. Original review left on Google- 3 stars (9/23/21): Took beginners classes with Marina: 5/5 stars. Marina was great. She demonstrated routines, gave individualized feedback, tailored to her students, & was encouraging but not pushy. Marina did not make the experience uncomfortable or awkward. Customer service by owner: Poor. I had purchased a second Groupon and recommended for my family to also purchase and go with me. The owner refused to honor the terms that were clearly listed on the Groupon I purchased. I was not asking for any special treatment or for anything that wasn't clearly listed on the Groupon I had paid for. The owner blamed it on Groupon for changing the listing without permission, but refused to make a one-time exception based on the terms of the Groupon I had already purchased. She basically offered me an ultimatum of requesting a refund from Groupon or having a family member use my Groupon. I respect, understand, and support small and local businesses. However, it is unfair to treat the client as if they are in the wrong for something that is beyond their control... Especially when they are supporting and recommending your small business.

Neither of us had previous dance experience and we were looking for a new hobby we could do together. It's been fantastic! We have a lesson with Ricky once a week and it's one of the things we look most forward to. Ricky is incredibly patient and encouraging. He understands that dancing salsa is a skill that we're looking to seriously build, but that we also have day jobs and are not trying to become professionals either. Ricky is an extremely motivational and patient teacher. He really excels at tailoring a program to his students' needs. It's been a great combination of doing something that is technically difficult while remaining fun. I highly recommend Salsa Central for anybody looking to get out and try something new on the dance floor! Salsa has been a wonderful hobby to pursue for its own sake and has been made even more special by the fact I get to build this skill with my husband. He pays attention to everyone and their moves and gives you advise based on what needs to improve, whether it is positioning or style. I love the convenience of doing Bachata and then Salsa, two classes on the same trip. Be aware that you need to make sure you plan to arrive at least 15 mins prior the class to look for parking and also to have time to get to the second floor of the building. It was a little hectic when I got there since there were several kids and teenagers coming out of class but once they were all done we were directed to the red room for the hip hop class. Keyara, the instructor, was welcoming and explained all the steps really well. She started with warm up and stretching and included some fitness components. I was expecting more dancing and Keyara delivered for the second part of the class. The class is described as hip hop fitness so it makes sense that she includes some strength movements before the actual dance. We learned a short choreography and practiced several times until we felt comfortable. I had so much fun!

I'm familiar with a number of studios in SoFlo, and this is certainly one of the better ones, not only in terms of what is on offer, but also in terms of the space itself (note: as of the time I'm writing this, none of the photos here accurately reflect the studio itself; I'll post one when I have a chance...).
