Since I had good service the last time I was here, we brought a ring in from my recently departed mother in law that my wife wanted to see if it could be resized. I don't know the woman's name but it was the frumpy old blonde woman that ended up not really helping us. We told what we were hoping to do, and her immediate response was "I don't think we can do anything but let me check" and then she came back and told us that they couldn't. Which is fine, however no offer of alternative options and you immediately took the conversation to a negative when you start off with I don't think we can. We went elsewhere and their response was "I will be happy to check and see", and even when they said that it couldn't be resized they gave other options of what could be done. I brought in two pieces of jewelry that needed repairs (a necklace and a ring), and the repair department was extremely helpful! They fixed the broken clasp on my necklace immediately for $11, and they are fixing my ring for $10 as well. They also cleaned my wedding set for free while I was waiting, and tightened the prongs on the main diamond because they were a little loose. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful even though I clearly wasn't there to buy jewelry, and the pieces I brought in were not purchased at Bell either. Quick and easy! This is the only place that I will shop for jewelry. I had shopped with one of the large chains years ago (Friedmans) and all they seemed to have was low quality junk and exorbitant prices. After trying Bell, I'm hooked! They carry very good quality merchandise and any work that I've needed done was completed in store instead of having to send pieces off to who knows where. They carry a lot of the big name lines that are all the rage now, too. A couple of years ago I wanted to get my wife a Pandora bracelet for mothers day and while researching the line I found that Bell has the complete collection! Battery replacement for two Swiss Army watches. One was a new, still-in-the-box Victorinox. I took it to them because I didn't want to risk scratching it myself. So, of course, what do they do? Scratch the back plate. When I complained, they tried to buff it out but did such a hamhanded job that they ruined it. I insisted that they replace the backplate, which they initially agreed to, but then later they simply did a better job of buffing it. They wouldn't do any more. Close examination still reveals the scratch marks. They told me they wouldn't charge me for the battery replacements, but when I checked my credit card statement, they had. My soon to be fiancé and I came into the store to look for engagement rings. I work for a jewelry store so I was very excited to be on the other side of the counter for once. However, we felt like a bother to be in the store. Don't walk in as a young couple and expect to be given any attention or excitement. Someone showing us rings left us midshowing to help someone else (something you NEVER do when helping a customer). Barbara was nice enough, but when I realized it was near closing time and I apologized twice, she didn't respond to me. At the jewelry store where I work, it doesn't matter if you're not going to buy anything and you're in the store thirty minutes after closing and I'm really tired after a long shift: when people apologize for staying after closing time, I always enthusiastically reassure them that they are welcome and wanted.
