I visited Gusto having been impressed with their menu online, offering multiple gluten-free dishes, mainly in regards to their risotto as sadly they fail to offer gluten-free pizza and pasta. The main enterance is up a couple of steps but there is a phone number outside where someone can contact a staff member, where they'd be able to go around the back enterance where there is a lift, but this step-free access is constructed rather poorly as after exiting a stairlift (one of the ones you have to open/close the door yourself and hold the button down) there are multiple chairs in the way, possibly for storage which in my opinion is stupidity and a disgrace as it blocks off the only way you can get in/out of the restauraunt without steps. The staff seemed rather slow during my visit, I was placed in the far corner near the back exit and I felt forgotten about, even after shouting a passing staff member on multiple occasions I was ignored to the point whenever I needed a staff member I had to walk around the restauraunt until I managed to find someone - which again isn't good enough. I ordered the saffron risotto with a ragu with it being displayed on the menu as gluten-free, however even though the menu stated the dishes I could and could not eat, the staff member continued to waste time by checking it in an allergen folder which still displayed all the same information as the menu which was rather pointless. When my food did arrive, it was extremely dissapointing, it was so bland, this is probably the first time I've ever ordered risotto in a restauraunt and had to season it myself, it was terrible and a little dry. Not only that, it tasted like they had added nothing else to the risotto to give it a little bit of flavour and really bring out the saffron, perhaps some onion or mushroom would have been nice, maybe a little bit of garlic and/or chilli but even that seemed too much to ask for what is supposed to be an Italian restauraunt. The only part of my meal which was actually seasoned was the ragu, but the meat its-self was rather chewy and the staff members couldn't tell me the three types of meat it consisted of as it stated they used three on the menu. To make matters worse they also tried to overcharge me - despite confirming the 50% offer multiple times, I was still charged full price, this was after a longer than average wait to pay in the first place. Again, I'm struggling to find any good things to say about Gusto Italian from issues with the speed of service to the point I felt forgotten, topped off by the staff trying to overcharge me for food which was probably the worst risotto I've had in an Italian restauraunt (in close competition with San Carlo Fumo nearby in St Peter's Square), I sadly feel Gusto Italian isn't even worth it at 50% off and the restauraunt located just off Deansgate deserves a single-star.

Make sure you leave yourselves plenty of time to park, eat and pick up your tickets from the box office too. While working at Salford Quays I joined some colleagues on a little trip out there, and we were informed by our waiter that there was a twenty minute wait once the food had been ordered. This is something that is difficult to understand when the restaurant doesn't seem to be particularly packed, but we trusted him. We did get our food when we were told, although some seemed to think it was a bit later... I didn't feel like I was waiting too long. In fact I thought twenty minutes was normal in a restaurant. Oh well, shows what I know. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I do understand the impatience of others, so use with caution, just like Diesel's Fuel for Life fragrances. I'm not exactly sure why that is. Other unique selling points include the nearby Lowry Outlet car park, the mall, if that's what you're into, the river views and of course attractions like the museum and theatre. Definitely a good option for lunch or dinner if you happen to find yourself Quayside.

The food is your typical Italian American fare, burgers, pizza's, etc. They have an open kitchen, which is always nice, as you can see the food being prepared and cooked and can see how clean the kitchen is etc. The service was prompt and the food good, very big portions, bit pricey though if you ask me for what it is. I've been to other Frankie and Benny's and it has to be said it's always been fine, I quite like the music they play and I do know they sing happy birthday to those that ask, making it a good place for parties etc.
