I guess it's purely a matter of taste and I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but the pizza just wasn't up to scratch. Lacking in flavour and perhaps a bit too thin in the crust department, my pepperoni left my wishing i'd ordered a side of chips. However, flavourless food doesn't seem to have put anyone else off as the place always seems to be occupied, mainly with those on their way home after a few scoops at The Black Lion, a few doors down. Perhaps that's the key to enjoying food at La Citta - just add alcohol and it tastes amazing? Hmmm. I may give it another go some time but for now I'll just keep walking. That's a much healthier option, after all.

Like the child that I am, I had also figured that since my mother was on a business trip I would be fending for myself that evening. So a pizza with lots of peppers and things on from Pizza la Citta (take out and delivery) was just the ticket. Italian heavy decor and colours, it looks a lot nicer than other take outs I have frequented yet in terms of layout/ menu pictures it differed only slightly. It just seemed cleaner and nicer to me. Prices were reasonable and the pizza came out really quickly. There were a few other people in the shop and up till this point I had always seen people in there on my walk home and envied them. Now I was one of the beautiful people - well, I had a beautiful pizza anyway.

The Two for Tuesday offer, which means you can essentially get two obscenely large pizzas for the price of one, allowed myself and my loved ones to feast for three days straight. Note: Domino's pizzas reheat exceptionally well. (Follow-up: For god's sake keep it refrigerated, don't blame me if you get a sore tummy now.) When we review chains on Yelp we're often asked, what makes this different from any other? I shall divulge. The students of Fallowfield, despite appearances, are a discerning bunch, and this practically 24 hour shop ensures that delivery happens on the dot. Right bang smack. Oh yes, I sat there and tracked it once on the page they offer for this process, just to check. Literally as soon as the clock on my computer hit 15 minutes past, the buzzer on my building sounded. You can't argue with that. Piping hot and on form too, without any quibbles over incorrect orders or mashed slices. Overall Domino's might be a stupidly pricey option if you're just getting food delivered on a regular night, but if you're getting a whole free pizza on top of your order, then the issue's resolved. I'll keep using this Domino's when I'm peckish and desperate. Judge me all you like...

Is the only way to explain the experience of an employee…read more As a driver at my local branch in Shrewsbury I am familiar with the trials and tribulations of working a Saturday night, but upon arriving at this Manchester store after an early night hitting the town, I was disgusted to find that the store had close a whole 2 hours before the advertised closing time. After ringing the established the store was infact delivering untill 5 am, but would only accept payment online. However, this would not allow for my 60% discount for being an employee of the company. Speaking to the manager over the phone I explained that I was an employee, and had ample proof of that (as I had brought my hat and had the Shrewsbury store group chat on my phone). Unfortunately, etiquette and basic manners were not trates the store manager possessed, as he simple hung up the phone to me. I was shocked. Shocked that a company that prides themselves on great customer service could accept such a practise, especially from a store mamager. I sincerely hope this is looked into further, and that action us taken against the store in question. The pizza was a medium standard - as others have said they aren't greasy and mine tasted pretty good, probably because it was saturated in garlic but hey, that's one of my favourite flavours. However I'd say it was a little too dense to reach true Italian pizza level status and the menu could do with some more authentic topping options, This is a place I would order from again because I know it will be of a decent standard, but it isn't your local I wouldn't go out of your way to try it. One thing they do which I irresponsibly decided to try is a Nutella and marshmallow calzone. It doesn't quite come off - perhaps because the dough is a little too thick to get the balance of bread to sauce right - but it is thoroughly laudable in concept. Value wise it's not bad: you can get a very big pizza for one for £8-9 and delivery is free after £10.

It was both a restaurant and a takeaway, and I adored it. I'd always find excuses to order from it. Delicious salty goat's cheese and juicy sundried tomatoes on crisp thin pizza bases, supreme pastas, exceptional salads... heck, the only thing it was missing was that beast of dough, the calzone. Well, it's around six years later and I've found its replacement. Italian Express is not to be ignored, I cannot stress this enough. When I first ordered from here I plumped for my old favourite which I used to order from the Parbold takeout... yup, goat's cheese and sundried tomato. Only, this one came with bonuses. Roasted red peppers and mushrooms. And the mushroom haters in your household will have an absolute nightmare. None of your pizza will be stolen because they stick those bad boys right in there under the cheese so they're impossible to pick off. Ree - sult. Oh, and a garlic pizza bread, 10" pizza and a chicken calzone all came to a measly £17 thereabouts. Er, can this place do no wrong? It's genuine, it's fresh, and it feels as if you're eating in a fine Italian restaurant - only you're in your own home, you can cosy up in your PJs and stick 4od on the laptop and no one will judge you. Chicken burger meal for £2.50? Done. Two donner kebabs, two chips and two drinks for £7.50? Sorted. Greasy, meaty pizza for under £3? Abso-flippin'-lutoley. They don't taste as good as the examples from the other Fallowfield takeway alumnus but who cares at these prices! Last time I walked past Happy Days one of the staff was sticking a poster in the window for £1.50 cheese and tomato pizza. He looked very unhappy. For those that happen to be stuck in the Trafford Centre on a marathon shopping exhibition with their family or beloved however, Pizza Express offers a moment of respite. Admittedly, if there's a pause between songs on the stereo you can still hear the faint sound of thousands of people marching to the consumer drum but otherwise, Pizza Express is a great place to unwind, eat and recharge your batteries. Like the other city centres branches, the menu is extensive with a long list of meat and vegetarian pizzas with every topping you'd imagine from mozzarella, parma ham and pepperoni to capers, olives, asparagus, artichokes and courgettes. One of my favourites is the Padana - which is goats cheese, spinach and caramelised onions on a thin and crispy base. My advice? Stay here until the shops have closed and the masses have driven home. It'll make your escape / exit much more relaxed.

The fact there's three seperate dining areas also means you can sometimes go five or ten minutes without seeing so much as a glimpse of your waiter or waitress! If you're the impatience type, I suggest you go somewhere else or even better, learn to kick back and R*E*L*A*X? After all, food should be savoured and appreciated rather than wolfed down. And believe me, the food at Pizza Express is usually darn good. There's lasagne classica, cannelloni, pollo pesto, melanzane parmigiana, multitudes of salads and side-dishes and a tantalising assortment of pizzas. Regulars usually opt for one of the Classics like American Hot or Fiorentina but there's also Romana pizzas with a super-thin base or Leggera pizzas which are all around 500 calories and include a salad in the middle instead of dough. Even better, this branch is located in an old post office building and retains some of the original features - which should provide a pleasant distraction whilst you're waiting for your waitress to bring your coffee and gelato!
