Not sure where these negative reviews are coming from. I've banked with Bellco since the late 80's and have had nothing but positive experiences from customer service and support staff. I've had a few instances where I needed to call the main customer support line and they were always very helpful and supportive. Some people don't keep track of auto payments or their other banking accounting and then get angry at a bank because they didn't let them know. Customers do have a level of responsibility in keeping track of their money. These are the same people that go from one bank to another looking for someone to hold their hand 24/7. read more

In the last six months my debit card, credit card, was cancelled! Now I can't get online! Do not use this bank!

I've had nothing but trouble since I opened an account with Bellco Credit Union recently. The agent was new, but tried to be helpful but the Bellco systems were overwhelming. I had to rewrite my vitals on numerous pages taking a lot of time. You would have thought that you were still in the age of carbon pager not computers. Since opening my account I've been prevented from reaching it online due to constant problems trying to login to my account. I've dealt with three IT people who although very friendly haven't been able to figure out why once I've fixed the login problem it prevents me from being able to login again. I'm still nervous about my account as I received 2 identical letters from Bellco with the heading of Bellco Student Banking showing that I have a zero account balance. I'm 78 and haven't had a student loan for decades and never with Bellco. Not being able to login & see what they list for my account balance combined with these letters is keeping me on edge. I hope to be able to retrieve my money from Bellco & transfer it it to a way more efficient company. Rick read more

By far, my favorite banking experience, employees are very helpful informative and it's been easy to do any transactions I've needed. I tried to obtain the title to my vehicle in March 2025. The vehicle was paid off in January 2024. I was given the runaround by several different representatives who simply sent me a pay off letter indicating that the vehicle was free and clear of liens. That was great, but Bellco NEVER completed paperwork from the time that we PURCHASED the vehicle off of the lease agreement. Because of that oversight on their behalf I spent countless hours, phone calls, and emails trying to get this situation resolved so that I could sell my vehicle. At the time that the lien release letter was received in April, I was told to call the Douglas County Title Department, provide them the letter and request the title from them, which I did. After completing all of their paperwork and overnighting that paperwork to them, I received a letter from Douglas County advising me that I was not the owner of the vehicle and that the leasing company was the official owner and they could not provide me with the title. Fast forward to today, some 14 months after the initial request for title and 16 months since the vehicle was paid off and I am still not able to get the title. I finally spoke to a manager Robert who admitted the error by Bellco and assured me he would expedite my request. I finally received the title about 2 weeks after talking to Robert and guess what, the title was still in Bellco's name!! I have tried reaching out to Robert several times only to be told he will escalate it to the resolution department. As of today I have had no communication back. I had to pay $350 to a service company to expedite the process to obtain a title transfer showing me as the outright owner with no liens on the vehicle so that I can once again get the vehicle sold. A complete nightmare of an experience. Very poor customer service, follow-up, communication and willingness to resolve issues quickly. I would highly recommend finding a different institution for your banking needs!! There is a reason they have a 1.7 customer review rating!!! read more

I wish I had the time and desire to write an entire book on the absolute abortion that is Bellco Credit Union. I received a letter about a week ago saying I was $89.00 behind on my auto loan from November. How? Who knows! I thought I was on auto pay, but ok. Then I go to balance everything out for December and find that my December payment never pulled either. How? Who knows! I thought I was on auto pay, but ok. So I call them to get it squared away this morning to be told it has already been sent to repossession! How? Who knows?! So I tell them well let's get this paid up and back in good standing and then figure out how after 4 years my auto pay "magically" stopped working. Oh but just one problem they apparently can't process my debit card because it shows as a credit card in their system???? Ok I did just get a new debit card so maybe it somehow magically shows as a credit card. Even though I have used it for ALL of my other bills and purchases at many businesses, but ok we will roll with it. So I grab my daughter's debit card that she has used for 2 years now as a debit card. Also, she's under age and I'm not rich or psychotic so she has nothing close to a credit card......... but wait!! It is showing as a credit card as well. The freaking card literally has "DEBIT CARD" written on the card, but ok. So now I decide to login and try for myself.........bet you can't guess where this goes........Yep! No account can be found with my information. Who would've thought?????? So to wrap this all up. They can't take my payment over the phone, I apparently don't have an online account, and they want to repo my car. Please Bellco can we figure out how to not be absolutely incompetent long enough for me to just pay this loan off and get it as far from you as possible? (Although judging by the other reviews I have read all over, that is going to be much harder than one would think.) Hmmm I guess I had the desire to write that book after all. Bellco Credit Union is absolutely not what it once was. We've been there for nearly 30 years and it's time to leave. Our most recent disappointment (and we've had a few): Just last week we had a couple of unauthorized charges from another state hit our checking account. It was Saturday morning. We froze our cards immediately because you can do that online. Our cards also say if you suspect fraud call Bellco right away. We did - but it took 30 minutes on hold to be told they can't help us because it was our checking account - not our credit card. We had to wait through the holiday weekend for the bank to open and now we're being told it will take at least 3 days for them to review and put "conditional" funds back in our account. 30 years of checking, savings, car loans, investment accounts - and we have to wait 3 days to have $140 dollars that we never authorized "conditionally" put back in our account. Really? If it's "conditional" why not do it immediately. I could go on and on about how they've gone downhill but it's just time to leave. I noticed Bellco actually responded to a few of these complaints but it's obviously computer generated because Bellco keeps getting worse - not better. read more

I've banked with Bellco since I graduated college, over thirty years. Until recently they set the standard for customer service. Nothing came close except maybe DirecTV. Calls were answered by knowledgable, polite, and competent people. Same for in-person visits. I've had a mortgage and a few car loans with them over the years, visa cards, CDs and checking. That's all changed in recent years. The customer service has changed for the worse, and the new banking app is a textbook example of how not to do things. I'm not happy at having to move my money and very sad to see an incredible example of how to do business lose it. I used to think being member owned meant something. Bad customer service. They do not care to help or support customer needs. Outdated online system. They want to squeeze every dime out of the poorest customers. Cannot pay ahead on loans, and cannot pay to principal online. No reason given, just "that's the system." I have been with Bellco for 20 years or so... They do a great job ! Fees are low, MUCH lower than banks. I have a Jumbo Home Loan, multiple rental loans, checking accounts, savings accounts, overdraft, and Business Accounts. Folks have always been helpful on the phone or in person. Online banking is very good...with BillPay, etc. I have no reservations when recommending Bellco to Family and Friends, in fact my sister is a member as well !!! read more

Bad customer service. They do not care to help or support customer needs. I have banked with Bellco since 1994 and the service had significantly increased for the better, until the last few years. The loan officers are full of misinformation and are not to be trusted. I was told specifically I could add to my HELOC loan at any time and that all I had to do was come to the branch and they would move the funds borrowed against my home equity line of credit into the HELOC. After wasting three hours of my time today they refused to honor what was pointedly communicated. I even questioned this information during the closing of my HELOC. Speaking with two different loan specialists and the branch manager they did not want to help and only offered me a new loan at a higher rate. I wish I would have known this before I did my online banking outside of business hours. I feel very duped. I hope this information reaches others so they may be informed and less trusting of Bellco's loan specialists. Please warn your parents so they do not fall into Bellco's trap. read more

I've been a member of Bellco for over 30 years. I've used Bellco for savings, loans and checking forever - it was my go to institution for all things financial. But it's gone from a great institution with confident and trustful people to quit the opposite. The current people who work there don't know what they are doing - none of them. I've been given wrong information multiple times and the people there have messed up my and my wife's accounts multiple times. We've had credit cards cancelled by mistake, wrong credit cards reissued, overdraft lines of credit switched around, been given wrong information on loans, had money transferred to wrong accounts, etc. The place has gone to hell, all within the last year or so. Then there is Bellco's new online banking software - it's crap. They have apparently hired a company that used canned application-development (i.e. code generation) software, instead of writing their own code, to create their new on-line banking software. It's a great example of a non-intuitive interface. They (we, Bellco members) paid for software that actually lost functionality compared to their old version. Something is rotten at the top of Bellco's corporate structure me thinks? read more

At this stage of the financial services game, it's a mystery to me why anybody still deals with the big national banks (Chase, USBank, Wells Fargo) when we have so many good credit unions in Denver. Credit union deposits are federally insured, so they're at least as safe as bank deposits, if not more so. CUs are member-owned, so they don't have to screw customers in order to placate shareholders. As a result, you'll always earn a little more on your IRA, or pay a little less on your car loan, at a credit union. Throw in local control, and a lack of corporate overlords, and we have a winner. Bellco has branches all over the metro; you can also bank at any Co-op member institution. Their ATMs don't charge fees, even for non-members. Bellco's online banking service works very nicely. I have business accounts, a home equity credit line and credit cards with them too, and I've worked with their auto broker, Automotive Avenues, to buy two vehicles. Every thing about Belco's banking process is outdated, and a pain in the a**. You need to skip a payment? They will send you an email in 3-7 business days, for you to sign, and then send back, and then um give it another week to process??? OH and then they tell you, that after you have waited taken the time to print this paper out, sign it, scan it, and send it on back- you actually cant skip a payment! Why? Because you have only made 11 monthly payments, you have to make 12. Not sure why they couldn't tell me this in the first place but whatever. You can call Bellco with a question, get an answer. Call back, speak to someone else, and get a complete different answer. Its fun to see how many different answers you can get. Really embarrassing for you Bellco. Well I guess you need a birth certificate to open a minor account even though they have their social and they're there with you and you are their parent which I've never seen before. Also and I looked up the minor accounts online I didn't see anything about it if it was there it was not very apparent. Got an auto loan through bellco at the car dealership. Contacted them immediately that I had intended to have the loan go through my own bank. After contacting my bank and getting everything taken care of, account was paid and closed. Bellco reported that I had been 30 days delinquent. When it clearly shows paid and closed. Bellco Westminster has re-done their interior for the worse. I went in to day to find a huge open space (dance floor). I walk with a cane slowly. The teller (male) hollared at me when I opened the door to walk in "What can I do for you" I was out of breath, so I could not answer him. He hollared again I was 1/2 way to his station. I got to his station out of breath, and told him I didn' appreciate sharing my bankiing bussiness with everyone! There is NO PRIVACY to take care of your personal business. Maybe they need to change their approach in directing customers to their station! I certainly did not like someone yelling at me when I walked in the door!! If you withdraw money everyone can see how much you are handed. They also do not have extended Phone Customer Service; you just have to hope you don't have problems on holidays or weekends. I am very disappointed how they have redesigned their building. I am at my wits end trying to deal with this bank's deplorable service. I have made SO MANY calls to the customer service team and they just shine me on and REFUSE to do what they promise. Bellco is now directly responsible for holding up the closing of my home loan, and even though I have told them that THREE TIMES, they simply don't care. I am now about to lose my rate lock. I have thousands in a checking account, a HELOC and a car loan with BELLCO and they still treat me like a nobody. I have been banking with Bellco since I was a teenager. They have always done right by me. I also have a business account with them. I love that their atm's never cost anything. You can also use all US Bank atm's for free and deposit at most other credit unions. Their customer service is top notch and here is the latest example of how great they are: Merle and I have a joint account which a few days ago became in the negative because some crooks made a duplicate somehow of Merle's card and then proceeded to spend over $1000 at get this, WalMart and K-Mart. I mean if you are going to steal from me at least shop somewhere good. The tricky part was this happened on a Saturday which meant we really just had to sit tight and wait till Monday to talk to the bank. Fortunately for us Bellco is the bee's knees and had cancelled Merle's card even before we did by Sat. evening. On Monday morning Bellco called Merle to let him know of the thieves goings on as we were en route to Bellco. He signed some paper work and they printed him a new card right there. It is nice to know that someone is looking out for the consumer. Bellco will always have our business. Crooks!!!!!!! Don't take your change in and have there machine count it!! Or actually do then see how much change is missing after there change machine counts it. I've tested this there and a couple of other banks that take change and you will be surprised! ! Banks are in business to take your money and they steal too obviously! !! Their business services are absolutely horrible. Just try to get an account setup where you can use bill pay or deposit checks online. They put a cap on the bill pay of $5 K (which is ridiculous for a business), and they refuse to setup online deposit unless you setup a PERSONAL account so they can use that as a guarantee for the checks. That is absolute BS. I will not open a personal account just to have them use my personal information as a means to guarantee the business checks that I might deposit for the company! Grow up Bellco and figure out that businesses need to write checks over $5 K, and asking someone to give you personal information for a business account is absolute crap. I opened my account recently, which was a very easy, friendly process. Sadly, I recently fell victim to medical issues. My disability company bungled their job and I ended up without a paycheck for a couple weeks. I have been watching my pennies very carefully, but an unexpected bill struck and caused a chain reaction of overdrafts that reduced me to a twitching mess. I called Bellco to beg forgiveness and got Christopher. I started apologizing and he stopped me, informed me that I am dealing with a credit union, not a bank, and therefore a real person. He refunded the overdraft fees and wished me a Merry Christmas. I was not shamed, insulted or belittled (as always seemed to happen any time I had any problem with a bank) and was not subjected to the "We're very sorry, but unfortunately there is nothing we can do..." speech. terrible experience. I went to an atm and requested $360. It dispensed $200 and the receipt said it was short of funds. However it charged my account at a different institution $360. I called Bellco and explained the situation. I was told we can't do anything contact your bank. What has happened to owing up to your mistake and fixing the situation. read more

The best customer service I have ever experienced from a financial institution! I have had auto loans and a savings account with Bellco for years, yesterday the Branch Manager, Kristen, went above and beyond to help me and provided service that I am sure I would never get from any other financial institution. I am going to switch my checking from a major US Bank and only do business with Bellco going forward. Also, if you are looking for a car loan, go into the branch and speak to one of their representatives, they are friendly, helpful and your transaction will be explained and will go smoothly. You don't have to wait until you're at the dealership to make this happen. read more

In general they are relatively helpful, but they have the slowest drive through and tellers around! I have, on many occasions, been helped after the person in the lane closest to the building, even though I was there first - they don't really monitor it (and I just have a quick deposit). Even when they are helpin you with a simple straight deposit, it takes over 3 minutes for them to finalize everything. Very disappointing! read more

Absolutely horrible. Worst bank experience I've had in years. I opened an account on Thursday, and had a payment from a biller INITIATED on Friday. On Friday, I also went to Bellco to make a cash deposit. When I made my deposit, I noticed my account balance was $31 less than it should have been. When I asked why, I was told my same-day initiated transaction overdrew my account. Now, if a transaction and CASH deposit are both not just made, but INITIATED on the same day, and the total of my cash deposit funds more than covers my one same-day initiated bill payment, how could I have an overdraft fee? Well, because Bellco uses a "real time" policy, which I understand means I'm supposed to know exactly when the person I'm paying plans on entering my payment and get to Bellco with my deposit before this happens. GET REAL! Same-day transactions and deposits should all be processed at the end of the day. What kind of policy is this, and further, are you the type of credit union member who condones this type of policy? I requested the NSF back and requested to close my account. Eventually, my requests were granted, but not without persistent arguing with both the branch teller and manager who were impossibly rude to deal with. Oh, and I had to come back the next day (today) to get my closing funds. Why? Oh, well, "real-time" fees can be assessed to my account, but of course refunds of such fees can't be processed "real time" so I had to wait. I have not dealt with such horrible customer service in so long, I can't begin to describe the anger I felt. I expect this sort of treatment from a large corporation like Chase or U.S. Bank, but from a local credit union? Members, get wise and demand this policy be changed. If you're not a member, I strongly discourage you from choosing Bellco as your financial institution. After closing my account, I went around the corner to Guaranty bank and was treated with the exact professional courtesy and welcoming attitude I expect from an institution that I place my hard-earned dollars into. And guess what? Guaranty processes all same day transactions at the end of the day -- credits (deposits) first, debits (transactions and withdrawals) second. Maybe the worst customer service ever. Last year I was trying to buy a house. We couldn't close because we had never received bank statements from Bellco which are required by all lenders. When we asked Bellco for the statements they gave us the run around for 30 days. They told us someone had set up our accounts incorrectly and for that reason they could not provide statements for us. I filed a complaint with the NCUA. Meanwhile we had terminated our lease on our rental property and now the sellers were threatening to back out of the sale of our new house because we couldn't close our loan on time. We thought we were going to be homeless. Bellco didn't care - they continued to tell us we couldn't have statements. My husband went to the branch and the branch manager refused to do anything to resolve the situation. My husband was so stressed that he left the credit union, went straight to his doctors office and was immediately admitted to the hospital for critically high blood pressure. Two weeks ago my daughter used her card to make a purchase from an out of state vendor. When she tried to use her card again 30 minutes later it was declined even though she had more than adequate funds in her account. I had to pay for her purchase for her. She called the credit union and was told she did not have an account - she's only had it for 3 years. So she went to the branch. They told her there was nothing wrong with the card it worked fine. I told her to check it at the ATM at the branch before she left and sure enough it didn't work. She went back inside and they insisted there was nothing wrong with the card, but gave her a new one. I've been in this situation a number of times. It's a joint account and I'm the primary. So I went to the branch to find out why her card did not work and why they told her she didn't have an account and why they finally gave her a new card. First the branch manager told me that they were too busy to help me and I could come back another time and hopefully then they could talk to me. WHAT?! Are you kidding me?! So I asked if I could make an appointment to guarantee they would help me when I came back. She told me she was going to lunch and I would have to make an appointment with the teller. The teller and I went back and forth for 20 minutes. She again continued to tell me that there was nothing wrong with the card and nothing wrong with the account and she didn't need to make an appointment for me because there was no problem. She told me my daughter used her card at Panera two days ago proving that there was nothing wrong with the card. IT was a COMPLETE LIE. There was one charge in 2 days against my daughters account and it was an automatic payment for PANDORA. No card used AT ALL. She then told me I had to speak to another teller. Another 20 minutes of the lady telling me she could not discuss my account with me because my daughter was not present. Fine, please make an appointment for me when my daughter and I can come in together. It's not as if there is anything they can hide from me, it's my account. She refused to make an appointment for me and then told me that she needed me to leave because she had other customers to help. Apparently I'm not a customer, I'm just someone who gives them my money for them to keep. I called customer service back to make an appointment. I was told I couldn't make an appointment that my daughter had to make the appointment. My daughter called me while I was on the phone and so I merged the call. Now she says she doesn't need to speak to my daughter she just needs her SSN. So which is it? They can't both be true. My daughter gives her SSN. Again the operator tells us that my daughter doesn't have an account. I am beside myself. After what seems like providing every possible personal detail she finally says my daughter's SSN is wrong. By the way, remember I'm the primary on the account, but they won't look it up by my info. Now the operator insists that they cannot help her unless she goes to the branch with her social security card. Wait - she already did that, I already did that, and I've been trying to get an appointment to go back because we couldn't get anyone to fix it. She finally reluctantly agrees to get an appointment. Yay! We have an appointment. But WAIT! Not so fast, the branch manager calls me and tells me I am not allowed at the branch. I'm speechless. Why? Because of things I said. Like what I ask? Was it when I asked for help with the account or when I asked for an appointment? She's not going to discuss it with me. She says she will send me a check. ??? For what I ask. To close out my account. Wait, the account that is in my name that you can't talk to me about because my daughter's also on the account? I have multiple joint accounts with this bank. Impossible to pay over the phone! You get hung up on a lot. I spent 3 hrs trying to make a payment on my auto loan! Can't get online to work at all and no one at the actual bank branch was willing to help since I was paying with my First bank account. Started at 12pm and was still on the phone trying until past 3:30pm. Still no luck! This is ridiculous. It was the last day to pay on the grace period and when I told customer service this, they said well if you don't get it paid you will get a late fee and we can't reverse it. B***Sh**! Worse ever. they over charge for external transfers, have the most issues just trying to log in, website changed so much I can't pay my car payment, they require me to make a bank with them to pay my loan off. i'd say this is the worse bank/loan I've ever dealt with. Wells Fargo isnt a good bank but i think they have this horrible bank beat! ive got about 10 or so loans out and this is the only one i ever have issues with. right now since they redid there web site i cant even make a external transfer.....I've paid this loan the same time every single time. Now i can't do that when i go to external transfer it says your account can't do this........why can't i do this now??? i've done every single payment this way! I've been with Bellco for about 12 years now. It used to be that I felt like a person there. I could go in and talk with them if there was a screw up, even if it was mine. I knew the branch manager. Now I feel like I'm walking in to a bank. The branch manager accused me of insurance fraud because I repaired my motorcycle myself, even thought I had the motorcycle outside and you could clearly see the repairs done. I recently had an issue with the new bank card regulations changes, and it was my screw up, but I got charged $120 in fees because I apparently selected the wrong box. I called them and all I got were rules and regulations quotes, and telling me how it was a "service" If they think getting charged $120 in fees is a service, then they are a bank now. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
