There is a cool selection of random animals including porcupines, guinea pigs, monkeys, lamas, and more. My favorite was the peacocks that just walk around zoo wherever they please. This is not the most amazing zoo of course, but it's fun and somewhere that you can be with locals and not feel like such a tourist.

Actually that should could for a lot because even though it is free doesn't necessarily mean that it is bad, and this zoo is a good example of that. Okay, the collection isn't all that big, but there are some impressive animals here, including a repitle house. However because the reptile house is usually dark, you generally have to wait to be permitted entrance namely because they don't actually have one of those dark room entrances. Still, it was pretty cool.

It has several play areas indoor...bounce houses, slides, climbing, toddler area with balls, riding cars. Plenty of seating along the whole place, allowing the grown ups to sit nearby as the kids go crazy. The outdoors is closed during winter months and reopen in April. That includes log rides, petting zoo, a few exhibitions of animals, playground, mini golf and other rides. They offer a decent deletion of food...burgers, tapas, salads, nuggets, fries, cheese/salami platters, steak. The drink menu includes alcoholic beverages...beers, wines and cocktails.

What a day at Pairi Daiza! A group of 9 of us all met up - and I'm impressed with how smooth the…read moreday was, and the overall experience. It felt like a theme park instead of a zoo. We arrived 945am to get a parking spot - and the lot was already filling up before it officially opens at 10am. Definitely arrive around 930am if you want to be in the lot closest to the entrance. They also have many accessible parking spots close to the entrance. There is tons of parking though, you might just have to walk a bit. We were with my sister in law who is in a wheelchair, so I was initially apprehensive about the limitations she might face. However, in the end, she had a really good time and loved it. First thing is that they actually have on their website a map specifically for wheelchair users. It reccomends a specific route that will make sure you see almost everything in the park, and not face barriers like stairs. They have a mix of elevators, and ramps through the park. Some of the ramps are a little steep, keep this in mind. My sister in law has an electric wheelchair, so she was able to get up and down the ramps. Yes, there are a few parts of the park that are inaccessible, but the park is so large you wouldn't really be missing anything. We stayed from 10am until 7pm (closing), and still had way more to see. You can bring your own food and water into the park, and I would reccomend this to save money. We did a mix - we ate at the outdoor African themed pavilion, and the food was good. Definitely bring lots of water as there are no water fountains. The park is split into two sections - Pairi Daiza (main park) , and a newer section Edenya. Where as the main park is almost entirely outside, Edenya is in a large glass paneled building. Edenya ticket is extra, but I was worth it. We probably spent most of time here actually. I can't believe we walked for almost 9 hours, but we couldn't stop, the whole experience was so engaging. Now time for sleep!

We love venturing out so we decided to check out this zoo recently…read more Entrance was 10€ for adults and 6€ for children 3 and up (more pricey than Lille zoo). This is a small zoo and limited on animals. What we enjoyed the most during our visit was the Llamas exhibit. Something different from what we've previously seen, and we've visited numerous zoos, aquariums, etc. Easy to miss (we almost walked away from it) but it was my favorite part of our trip here. There's a playground inside the zoo and another playground outside to the right of the entrance.

This small zoo, located in the town of Maubeuge, not too far across the border from Belgium (and…read moreabout a half hour from Mons), is actually very nice. I think it has lost many visitors to the Belgian Pairi Daizi, which is massive and full of animals however. It not so much a 'zoo' with animals inside cages, but more like an animal park. In one area you can wander around with the sheep and lamas and, if lucky, get to pet them. Among the highlights are the white tigers, Asian elephants and panthers from Sri Lanka. At just 9 Euros admission price, you can also wander around the world's continents and enjoy what that part of the world has to offer from the animal kingdom. This is actually a very nice day out and you're most likely to not have to walk around in a crowd.
