I hired Belmont Moving to move me from NYC to Ashville, NC. The salesman was patient and friendly, a great sales pitch! Once they got my deposit, they were not so responsive. It was an absolute nightmare from pickup to delivery. The movers charged an extra $700 even though I had taken less than I had initially put in the contract. The delivery arrived a week later than promised. I endured hotel costs, etc. Belmont Movers will promise you the world, and it's a scam!!!! I wish I had looked at these reviews before hiring them. Belmont moved us mid July. Estimated 1,500.00. My advice add 25 to 40 % to the estimate. They left so much behind that I had to hire another individual to help me (I have bad back and shoulders) finish the move. Three witnesses bear my review as the truth. Good luck with your move. Four men showed up on time. I wish they had added more to the estimate and they would have completed the move. Like all the other reviews here, this place is a scam!! Would only allow me to receive my things if I paid them a .03% fee on my debit card. I offered to wire them the money 3 days before delivery. Told me it would take a week for a wire transfer. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. They will give you a good bid, you pay the deposit and when the subcontracted company comes to pick up your items, the load now is bigger than the estimate they gave you. ALOT HIGHER!!! I have so many complaints. COMMUNICTION. My move was scheduled to be picked up on the 15th. No one showed up, when I called they told me it was scheduled for the 16th. I have to take ANOTHER day off work now. On the 16th another no show. This was a Friday so the man actually driving the truck contacted me and told me he could not pick my items up until Monday. Guess what happened on Monday. NO SHOW. So when they finally showed up, that is when they hit you with the extra charges. I had no choice but to pay. The deposit had already been put down. I was told I would have my items as soon as possible because of the delay. Well the day came and passed. I called a week later because I wanted to see just how long it would take them to get in touch with me. Now I am told another week. I was also told by Kristian to email my complaint and they would work on some type of compensation. You see I moved this exact same load last year. It has not been touched. This company is a SCAM!!!! They quoted me and my parents $3500, then turned around, two days before their move, and told them it was going to cost them $14,000. This is the ultimate in bait and switch! I originally received the quote from a Tyler, who seemed to be very helpful. When my parents contacted him about the higher rate, he denied everything. You all are liers and cheats to try to take advantage of an elderly couple. SHAME ON YOU ALL!!! read more

Worst company and experience ever! Seems that nearly all the real reviews say the same thing and have similar experiences. The final cost was 4x what I was quoted. The subcontractor, Takoma movers, didn't provide me a copy of ANY of the paperwork, didn't adhere to their own policies, and wouldn't tell me where my items were nor when they might be delievered. People at both companies wouldn't return calls, texts, or emails. Delivery was made after I filed a police report and then it was delivered at 9 p.m. in the dark. It took me 3.5 weeks of arguing to get them to provide me with a receipt, which in the end was a photo of a bill with "paid in full, zero balance remaining" handwritten. They acted like I was insane for wanting a receipt at all, which by the way is standard operating procedure for businesses around the world. All of my items were not delievered. Many items were missing, including an entire Temperpedic bed (worth about $7,000.00). And of course, there is no information about how to make a claim for missing (or stolen) items and no one at either company has returned my attempts at contacting them. This is a scam and a bait and switch operation. I am filing complaints with the Attorney Generals Office in NM, CO, WA, NY, and FL. I hope others will do the same. All the stories are so similar that this must be their standard way of operating and they should be stopped. read more

They moved and stored my furniture. That's a star. They bid my move at $5,000.00. For less than 10,000 lbs. . Shelter bid my move for 10,000 lbs at $6700.00. Obviously I chose Belmont. The final bill came in at $7900.00. And they took off 400$!!!! Do you see my dilemma? I was overcharged 1900$!!!!! That's not chump change!!! They under bid my move by 3300 lbs. I find that practically impossible. What moving company is off 3300 lbs? Unless..... And here is the big question. Was this bait and switch? Under bid, get the furniture onto the truck and then what do you do? I could report them to the interstate moving agency but after all is said and done they know you are too tired to do anything. They promise to move stuff, show up, say we can't move it and still charge you cause of shady wording in their contract. Promised to move all household good in a single truck-did not. Charged $700 more to move same goods than they did a year ago. Refused to call me back. On May 25, 2016, Belmont moved my household goods. Though I was assured at the time I booked the move that a large truck would be sent, the truck that arrived was unable to get all my goods onboard, so the crew had to make 2 trips. Though I was not happy, this did not cause a considerable problem, due to the fact that the old and new addresses were only 2 miles apart. The crew moved us in 7-1/2 hours, for a total of $1162.50. I recently contracted with Belmont again to move my household goods. At the time, I booked the move, I told them that I would need a large truck, because during the previous move in May, 2016, the crew had to make 2 trips. She assured me that the truck would hold all my goods. On July 10, 2017, the crew arrived in the same size truck that was too small a year ago. I told the driver then that the truck was not big enough and, after he surveyed our goods, he told me that he 'guaranteed that he would get it all on the truck'. Loading was begun at about 9:30AM. At 3PM, the driver came to me to let me know that they would NOT be able to get all of our goods onboard. I called and complained that the truck I requested was not sent, and that the crew was not going to fulfill the agreement to move all my goods as requested (one trip). I was that, because they could not get a tractor/trailer into my driveway at the new address, they sent the largest straight truck that they had. I had not been informed why this truck was sent, nor why they could not send a larger one until after loading had been going on for more than 5 hours !! I was offered the option of having the same crew return the next day to finish, with me paying for their time & travel. I declined. After the truck was completely full (leaving LOTS of outdoor furniture and miscellaneous items behind), the crew drove to my new address and began unloading. I was charged from 8:30AM until 9:00PM, with total charges of $1875. I had added NO additional furniture or other items between this move and the one the prior year. I have called and talked to Andrea on 2 occasions since this latest move. After discussing my issues, she wanted to talk to the crew and said she would call me back right away. After waiting 2 days, I called her back on July 19. Of course, the crew claimed that they packed the truck 'tight' to get as much on as possible, which led to addition hours being charged. Andrea also stated that the items moved this time differed from the previous move. I challenge that premise because the same size truck was sent... what they put in it doesn't matter. After much discussion, I asked to speak to Andrea's supervisor, which she agreed to. She put me on hold and came back to inform me that her supervisor was in the warehouse and unable to speak with me then. She promised that he would call me back at the earliest opportunity. As of July 27, 2017, I have still not heard from either Andrea or her supervisor. I have been a good customer of Belmont, having used their services several times for local moves. However, I have several issues to bring up. 1). I feel I was charged an outlandish amount for this latest move. 2). The crew were extremely slow, with at least one of the crew-members being useless. "Packing tight" is a poor excuse for the additional 5 hours this move took, given the same amount of goods. 3). I paid for 4 men and a truck at $150/hour. I believe that I got the equivalent of 2-1/2 men. 4). Belmont has a SEVERE communications problem. Not letting customers know that the equipment that you're sending will not do what was contracted is inexcusable. When promised a return call, they should fulfill that promise. 5). One member of the crew opened our refrigerator, got a soda out, drank it, and hid the empty can in the bathroom vanity. VERY unprofessional. STAY AWAY from this company !!! read more

At this point I would not recommend this company to anyone. Very sub-par customer service from the executive level and a lack of "customer first" attitude. It is my belief that there is a level of trust that should be associated with hiring someone to transport my belongings (or "products" as the owner so insultingly referred to them), and I have lost that. I am scared that my belongings will arrive on time and in the same condition. After the initial estimate, which I was told was an "overestimate" at the time, of 4000# at a cost of $2500, the movers arrived only to inform us that an additional truck would be necessary to finish loading (an additional 1000#), which will incur additional fees. In efforts to try to understand what happened, I called to speak with the owner, and he neglected to apologize for any inconvenience, communicated a clear lack of ownership and offered no remedy or compensation, only excuses. Then he hung up on me. He was very defensive. Please do not use this company. They badmouth their competition, stating that they never purposely "low-ball" estimates like their competitors to incur additional revenues; I can't say that I believe him. Whether or not it was an accident (a careless mistake), I now will be incurring unknown additional charges on the fly as a result of their mistake. This company backed us into a corner and took advantage of us. As a consumer, I should not feel helpless, insulted and nervous, and at the mercy of this company, owned by someone who makes it a point to hang up on his helpless clientele.
