While in Melbourne for a youth soccer tournament we decided to take the kids for some ice cream and went with Ben & Jerry's. This location is in a large strip mall so there is plenty of parking. I got there a bit early and forewarned the lone employee working to prepare for some incoming. The team had a mini party inside the store and everyone enjoyed the ice cream. Staff were super patient and friendly. I applaud them for dealing with us as the kids started to get a little rowdy and they were cool with us. We all left happy and sugared up. Best milkshake thats if you like a Milk-Shake, because unfortunately they dump so much milk in the ice cream and over blend it it just taste like drinking milk and a hint of ice cream. Staff acted very bothered like they were closing early when we showed up. It seems the Melbourne/Palm Bay area is rich when it comes to ice cream choices. We even have some unique places that sell certain kinds of frozen desserts such as gelato at Le Macaron and frozen custard at Rita's. However, there is one ice cream shop that stands out for its unique combinations over the rest: Ben & Jerry's. The only Ben & Jerry's located in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area is in the Premier Theater shopping plaza on Hibiscus Blvd. If it helps, it is the shopping plaza just north of Melbourne Square Mall and within the plaza itself, it is in between Premier Theater and Hemingway's Tavern. Visually, it recently got an upgrade with a new layout and painted walls. You can tell they decorated the place to cater more for children as there are kid's games setup within the area. However, the real star of Ben & Jerry's is of course the ice cream. Where other places have simple flavors like vanilla and chocolate, Ben & Jerry's has those flavors but also has unique flavors or combinations that are at least worth sampling. To top it off, they have some of the most memorable names given to them too. Below are the two classics you should try out. 1. Chunky Monkey - Banana ice cream with fudge chunks and walnuts. 2. Phish Food - Chocolate ice cream with caramel and marshmallow swirls and fish-shaped fudge. Of course Ben & Jerry's makes more unique combination flavors. Their newest ones are P.B. Doughable Chocolate, Gimme S'more, Cinndoughrella, Chocolate Shake It, and Chip Off The Dough Block. To conclude, this is one of the places I like to try something new when it comes to ice cream. The prices are not bad for what you get and you can actually bring your ice cream into the theater. This makes a nice cold treat while watching a movie. December 26, 2021. We decided to drive down to the ice cream shop next to the Oaks movie theater. They have a good variety of ice cream to choose from. There was a middle-aged woman working behind the counter. I happened to notice a sign in one of the ice cream cases with Colin Kaepernick's name on it saying "Colin Kaepernick change the "whirled".When I asked the woman behind the counter if she knew who Colin Kaepernick was and when did they go political her answer with attitude was "Ben & Jerry's has always been political". I told her I have never seen something posted in a store that is offensive to a large population. Whatever your political beliefs are they don't need to be posted on an ice cream cooler.Sadly the woman behind the counter did not even know who Kaepernick was( his 15 minutes of fame are gone)so I had to give her a brief history lesson. I'm 58 and she was about 45. I told her that I was highly offended because my husband is still a reservist in the military, his father was a Korean war veteran ,my father was a World War II veteran and I have many other friends & family members that are veterans. She told me that the man that owned the store is a veteran as well. She said the owner doesn't have any problem posting Kaepernick's little sponsorship so she is sure it's no big deal.I would truly love to know if the owner of the Ben and Jerry's at 1800 W. Hibiscus is really a veteran and if he is SHAME ON YOU! I should have worn my Let's Go Brandon T-shirt that I got for Christmas. I'm so disappointed in my experience. I went to a movies the other day and had ice cream in the shop and realized we could get my moms birthday cake there. So excited about this. We picked the flavors and used a stock photo for the decoration idea. It was 3 cookies as balloons that were covered in white frosting and rainbow sprinkles that otherwise made the blue and brown cake fun. And I paid that day. Today I pick up the cake. It looks like a 7 year old decorated it. One of the balloon cookies is smashed and there are no sprinkles. So grandmoms birthday cake is blue and brown. I'm so embarrassed but I have no other option as I picked it up on the way to celebrate. I was so upset when the girl behind the counter asked for payment I paid...again. $36 twice for the ugliest cake. I did call back and she said she was able to refund second payment back. After a movie we visited the ice cream shop next door. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating. It is clean and nicely decorated. The selection of ice cream was vast. You may taste before you buy. You can order a single or multiple scoops. They have a selection of cones or you can have it in a cup. I ordered a a coffee and chocolate chip. My husband ordered a vanilla which was good. My only complaint is it is pricey for ice cream. You wouldn't want to take a family with children. It will cost you plenty. The place needs to be cleaned and be organized. I noticed dirty blue gloves on the counter, shelf behind the counter, and the trash bin was overfilled with more gloves. The trash bin can be hid somewhere where customers won't have to see, or a get a BIG one with a lid. It just did not look clean. Just stopped in tonight after seeing a movie at the Oaks. I will start off by admitting that I was the person that left the mess of napkins and milkshake at the register. I made the mess because one of your employees decided it wasn't her job to not over fill the milkshake cup and then handed it to me with the lid not attached. She did this as if to say, "here is the mess I created for you". No I'm sorry or can I put this in a larger cup. Just here is a mess you get to pay for and deal with. Furthermore, when handed a coupon for 50% of a second shake (we ordered 3) she just took 10% off the order. Let me think 10% off of $18+tax or 50% off of $6. I'm assuming math isn't her favorite subject. Bottom line, save your money and go anywhere and I mean anywhere else.
