Excellent Thai option in Westchester. We ordered fried tofu, red curry chicken, basil chicken stir fry, and butter chicken (Hainanese Chicken). The Chicken Basil stir fry was authentic and very flavorful. We also enjoyed the special butter chicken made similar to something you would find in Bangkok. We moved into the area in 2003 - frequented then and many years after. Was outstanding. Ordered up my favorite soup yesterday, Tom Ka with chicken. Always has been the best. Walked in to pick it up and noticed the restaurant was updated and more upscale. Unfortunately, the food has regressed. My favorite soup is no more.... Full of onions and carrots instead of chicken and the chicken pieces that were in there were tough and gross. I can't believe I have to write this about my favorite Thai place in the area. Probably the most authentic Thai cuisine in the area. Some places I noticed on yelp mix Chinese and Thai cuisine. This is the only place that had massaman Curry, and that's what I was craving so I went there. If you're in the area and craving Thai food check out the small little joint you won't be disappointed. Did they get new owners/cooks??? We've enjoyed Benjarong for years but the food we got today (5/10/25) was prepared very differently. The chicken was an awful boiled color, the noodles and veggies were both soft and mushy. I was wondering why the chicken was so hard to cut into and discovered the piece was raw. I used to eat here back in the day until I moved. Recently rediscovered it and was so happy I did. I've been back twice now and each time the service was excellent- people are very friendly, cute cafe set up-place is very clean, and the food is reallllly good and beautifully presented. One thing to note about the location-front side facing Mannheim doesnt have proper signage so you have to go into the parking lot by Giiordano's and the "front" of the restaurant and entrance is right there. STANDOUTS: crispy pork belly basil (order it with some spice!), crispy pad thai, crispy shrimp cigar (appetizer rolls) amd the coconut pudding. read more

Wow...Ben Jarong, Westchester, always our special treat dinner 20 some years. Our order today was practically inedible for several reasons. For myself, I only order pad woonsen medium hot, chicken. What I got was mouth numbing noodles in some kind of sweet sauce and almost raw carrots. My lips still numb while writing this. We looked it up online while still trying to eat. Then we were not so surprised to read that it had been sold..... You can buy the restaurant but You should have bought the recipes!!!! The establishment did call to offer to make it right. I admired them for that. So, in all fairness, maybe the 'chef' was a bit over exuberant with his spices today, but you can always add more hot yourself...but to all of us who have gone here for years, these recipes are not the same. This place close at 8:30 per the sign on the door. We got here at 7:30. We sat down and they walked up and asked if we could take our food to go because the kitchen was getting ready to close. People in these reviews have been complaining about a woman who works here, but there was a different woman working here each time I came and they were both pleasant. It was just ok. But in fairness they had just took over. Today I ordered the lunch special spicy chicken basil stir fry. I substituted tofu for chicken. It was very good. Had heat to it. My wife and I are by no means Thai cuisine experts. We're on a bit of a quest to find our favorite, so lately we've been having our date nights at Thai restaurants. Benjarong did not disappoint. The cozy restaurant looks a little dated and could use a refreah. However, our server was friendly, attentive, and responsive. We ordered Green Curry with Chicken and Ginger Chicken. We've noticed that some place the Curry is watery while at other places it's almost a runny gravy. Benjarong's curry is watery. That doesn't mean it was lacking any flavor. It was a complex and very balanced curry (medium heat), and we really enjoyed it. I especially appreciated the mushrooms which I haven't seen before. They add an additional texture and flavor which made the green curry even more enjoyable. The ginger chicken was a little underwhelming. It was delicious, but it wasn't gingery enough. Having never ordered this in a Thai restaurant, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I guessed ginger would be the standout flavor, and not as subtle as it was. Still, the dish was delicious! read more

We ordered the items we typically order: mussaman curry and chicken satay. the chicken was dry and flavorless and the curry had undercooked potatoes. very sad because it used to be our regular takeout and we enjoyed it for many years. This is a great little neighborhood place hidden in a strip mall. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is consistently very good! I love their spring rolls which are served cold and sliced into bite sized servings along with a sweet sauce. On my most recent trip here over the Thanksgiving holiday after we had eaten enough turkey, we also had the fried tofu which was excellent. I've had a number of their curries and noodle dishes and have never been disappointed! This time I had the Pad Kee Mao with chicken. The vegetables were fresh, and the flavor was great! An assortment of sauces is available on the table; I love the one with crushed red pepper! It is so much easier to adjust the spice level up after tasting a dish than trying to guess what "medium" vs "hot" means from one restaurant to the next (or even one dish to the next for that matter!) I also have to mention how fun the ceramic boats are that they use to serve all the food. Seriously, the dishes are ceramic row boats. Service is always good here; we've never had any problems! Tucked away near the Jewel- such a lovely hidden gem! Apps, soups and entrees all lived up to our expectations. The price was fair and the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere. Bejarong is as fresh as it gets. It's pretty small and cozy on the the inside, seats about 20 people max. The decor is very modern Asian, feels like a nicely decorated family dinning room. The staff is always smiling and helpful. The menu has a very good variety from rice dishes to famous peanut chicken pad thai noodles and more.The Thai spices that are inculcated in every dish are very well balanced. I have eaten here many times and I am always satisfied, mainly because it's a mom and pop shop with the same cooks and consistency of taste and preparation. They have the BEST FRESHLY CHOPPED VEGGIES to compliment their dishes. I don't know where they these vegetables from, but you can taste freshness. They can make any sauce you want spicy or mild depending on your mood. And they make the BEST Jasmine white rice, it combines flavors of curry and spices to make a mouth-gasm, phew! The best thing I can recommend is ANY NOODLE dish off the menu. Sorry that I don't have the name of the dish however they are pronounced in Thai, so gimme a break here. I've been mulling it over between giving Benjarong 3 or 4 stars, especially since my hubby and I have started to become regulars at Benjarong. As another Yelper, it really is hit or miss if relevant to service and who is serving you. Their dishes are a little peculiar in their ingredients. Read more below. Yet, if you're looking for authentic, homey and comfy Thai food, Benjarong is one of the best I've had in the Westchester and Brookfield area. I love their spring roll which comes out cold with the warm sauce. Their version includes egg, tofu, bean sprouts, cucumber, carrots and green onion. For some reason, this appetizer is so satisfying that we ALWAYS barely make a dent of our entrees. Their chicken satay is delicious and flavorful with great portions of meat and the peanut sauce that accompanies it, is one of my favorites. Love their green curry. It has the right amount of spice and the perfect blend and balance of vegetables to meat. Same goes for their basil duck. I found their lard nar to be a bit peculiar in that they used salted soy beans which you normally wouldn't find in lard nar. However, I REALLY enjoyed it as it seemed to be a fusion of Thai Lard Nar and Chinese Chow Fun. Normally, I'm not a fan of Lard Nar because of the sweetness of the noodles, but their use of the salted soy beans added a balance of sweet and salty flavors. I'm also always a sap for chinese broccoli in noodle dishes. Of the dishes that I've tried, the only other one that was even more peculiar to me was the Yum Nue (beef salad). Here I also received a sense of a Thai/Chinese fusion as the beef was tenderized and battered with a coating of cornstarch or rice flour. It reminds me of the type of tenderized meat you'd fine in Chinese dishes. The texture was a bit off-putting but the flavor of the salad was delicious. I do though prefer sliced grilled beef in beef salad. Both my hubby and I agree, we prefer the flavors of the food, price and portions at Benjarong better than Fine Thai located in Brookfield. read more

I LOVE thai food, and recently found Benjarong Thai near my work. This place is my new favorite. Everything has been excellent and flavorful and fresh. The woman who works there every day open to close is sweet as can be. The decor is authentic. There are tables and booths for seating. And while you can take your thai to go, or stop in for a quick bite, this place doesn't have a temporary or dinery to-go feel to it. I could come here on a date night. It's kind of behind the Jewel. If you GPS your way there, the GPS seems a little confused, so look behind the grocery store for the mini-strip mall. The outside doesn't do justice to the cute inside :) read more
