My first time coming to this Ben's Bargain location. There's a Ben's Outlet and a regular Ben's. The outlet one seemed to have more home goods than the one next door. There are basically the same store and price range. They are both about the same size and much larger than the one on Dixie Hwy here in Louisville. I wish our store had as much as these do in Jeffersonville. They are lucky to have these stores I will say that. They have way more than Louisville. Basically everything from A to Z, and are more organized than Louisville store, I don't have anything personal against the only Ben's Bargain in Louisville, I just wish they had as much and were more organized. If I lived closer I'd be in the Jeffersonville one all the time. I could've spent hours in there but time didn't allow. I hope to come back that way someday. read more

If you love to bargain shop then Ben's is amazing! Most things are 40% off retail cost (tons of Walmart, and Target stock), electronics are 30% and DVDs and things and 50%. They restock on Thursdays and have a Facebook live video to show you all the new cool things. There are things that you can plan on finding at Ben's each time you go, but for the most part the inventory is different weekly. Sometimes they get tons of food in, sometimes baby stuff, etc. The only issue I have is sometimes the prices are not listed at what they were sold at Walmart or whatever store it came from. For instance, Monster truck toys for kids are usually about $5, forty percent off of this is great! However, a lot of times the stick says $13 or more. This doesn't make it a bargain, but thankfully its usually only specific toys that I see this happen with. You cannot return anything, except you have a small grace period with electronics. This is fine, but you NEED to look at expiration dates on food items just in case. Some items have slight damage (dented cans of food, maybe a package on a toy is has a small tear), but this is a very small amount of product considering the crazy large inventory they have. The staff is not friendly. It's very disorganized, dirty and a lot of open packages be aware if you happen to grab an open package your could blame and and throw you out. I'll grab a bottle of something. My hands were dirty. There was an open package of wipes or some kind of towelette, I got one to wipe my hands and the "John Wayne" security guy just escorted me out, claiming that I open the package. read more

Me and my wife came in on 12/26 to shop around to kill some time. When we walked in I saw a Milwaukee pack out set. I walked over and saw the price of $189 and the tag said 3 piece Milwaukee packout set. With barcode on all three pieces. The tags all had the same barcode and item number from Ben's Bargain. My wife and I couldn't believe it so we asked the people at the cash register if $189 was for the entire thing they said yes I think so but I can ask security to make sure. Security looks at it and say it looks like it but let me go back to processing. Now the manager comes out and looks at it and say oh this is right. It looks like the $189 is for one piece. And there are different barcodes. How are the barcodes different when it has the same product number and description on each tag??? So I talk to him and point this out and show the tags and show it's just not on one but each piece and he gets quiet. He says let me call the owner real quick. He comes back and says that processing made a mistake and they couldn't do $189. I said how is it my fault that your processor messed up. That the consumer/ customer shouldn't take the brunt of someone else's mistake and sometimes as a business you got to take a hit. He says let me see what we would charge for it and I'll be back. manager comes back and their retail prices is higher than if I bought it from Home Depot. I bring that up and he says well that's why we offer 40% off. To make it cheaper. I then say can I get a better prices than this because I could have just checked it out and you guys wouldn't have know to coach your processor on doing his job correctly and would have lost money on it. He said no can't. I then tried to say well what if I pay what you guys paid for it so you break even. He just laughed and says no can't do that. Never been to a business that false advertises a prices and admits to the mistake and not do something to make it right. Let alone laugh in your face and say no. The manager their does not care about the business or the people coming in to shop their. I have worked in retail for many years and have always honored a price if my employees made a mistake because end of the day it wasn't the customers fault so they aren't going to be the one to be punished for it. That's also how you get life long customers. But obviously Ben's Bargain lives the motto. I'm here for a short time not a long time. This store is huge and would be overwhelming to a first time shopper. Lots of surprising items all over the store. Something for everyone that loves cheap discount stores. I don't quite get the appeal on the going nutz with a heaping shopping cart of stuff though. read more

I love going to Bens! It is a discount center and the store is in a disarray if the shopers cannot pick up after themselves. There are employees that do their best to keep the store clean and organized. If you go on a Tuesday instead of a Saturday you will see the difference. With this store you never know what you will find. Everything in the store is 40% the lowest markes price if not more! I hot a vacuum for $90 that normally retails for $250. I have also gotten some houseware and kitchen things. I have even bout some cosmetic and sunscreen here before. Just make sure to check the expiration because I have seen some expired products. read more

I agree with my fellow Yelpers that this place takes some stamina and that you need to be aware of things like expiration dates and damaged goods. Having said that, if you have some extra time on your hands and aren't afraid to dig a bit, you could go home with some good deals. There doesn't seem to be any sort of organization to the layout of the store. We found rat poison next to dog treats, go figure. I also didn't see the designer (and much fewer name) brands than friends, who suggested the store, had mentioned finding and buying. We made the trek across the river to look for winter boots, pjs, and a blender. I didn't find any boots, but did pick up pajamas separates that originally came from Stein Mart (from the tag still on the pieces). I paid about what you would for a set at Target or maybe TJ Maxx. Not a great deal, but cute and affordable. The blenders were the same price as we found later that day for comparable items at Target. The one place we did score some savings was in the grocery section. We found health store and gourmet items at a fraction of the cost at grocery or Whole Foods. I picked up some Stevia cheap as well as Tazo tea, Just Mayo, and a fancy fizzy drink that I like which is a specialty item and pricey when you can find it. We spent over an hour in the store and walked away with some things we set out to get. My advice, you can have some idea of what you'd like to find, but be open to things you use but didn't think they'd carry! read more

I purchased multiples of sanitizers directly under the 70% off sign. There was also a 70% off sign taped to the shelf the items were on. Can you guess what happened? Only two of the 20 products were actually 70% off. Not only was the cashier rude but mentioned "this isn't even hand sanitizer" guess what I CAN READ. That's how I know they were supposed to be 70% off. Needless to say, I will not be going back. The items were clearly priced up to accommodate the regular 40% discount. read more

A GIANT discount store! It's just great a lot of great selections unfortunately I don't live nearby otherwise I'd back a moving truck and load up on stuff. Good luck finding an actual bargain here! This store marks up merchandise to double or more retail value, then applies a "discount." The final price ends up being the same or more as new at any other store. If you are a savvy shopper and know your price points, you'll quickly realize this is not the place for you. Let me start by saying this is not a Macy's or a Nordstrom !! It's a bargain center . And& me being a bargain Hunter I absolutely love it. I live rather close so I shop here frequently. It does require some time cause it is by no means organized. But if you have the time to look through the unorganization and the clutter your bound to find some good deal . My favorite section of Ben's is in the back by the grocery department. And it is my favorite because I get quite a bit of make up and hygiene products very cheap . Herbal essence shampoo& conditioner $1.50 a piece that's 2/3$ ,contour kits, Revlon, Maybelline,CoverGirl,ect ect . 30cents for some Bobby pins ! C'mon girls , I can't be the only one excited about that . I also get alot of shapewear (girdles,corsets,bodysuits ect) from khols and Walmart all 60% percent off . Like I said , this is no Macy's . But if you want a bargain, your in the right place here !! Note - nothing here is used . My sister worked for the company for several years and the owner ben buys businesses through their insurance companies in the event of disasters (like hurricanes ect ect) . He salvages what he can and sales it at a discounted price . Now rather there was some returned items from the hauls he purchased I can guarantee you they were very very discounted ! After hurricanes Harvey he got a Walmart , they salvagaed alot of clothes and sold them at 60% off along with shoes . It's not a Goodwill . It's a good bargain ! read more

Great place for cheap stuff bit be ready to hunt for your size or style. Had to go there today for steel toe boots. They were marked $70 and we got them for $35. Name brand. I have bought some food bargains too. I'm telling you though...give yourself at least an hour or two to shop the whole store. Great service but the lines are long. Don't bring your kids because your kids probably don't have the patience to be in the store that long and there is too much for them to get in to. I love going into this store. It's a lot of fun, looking at all the new stuff they get in. Like others have said, some prices are literally the same as in other stores, you have to be careful and check ahead of time with a smartphone or something. I managed to save hundreds of dollars on many items, and I always buy coffee here because you can get a bag 50% off the original price and that is a very good deal. First of all, this place is Not organised! Don't bring your kids. Don't come if your looking for something specific. Don't come if you don't have hours to shop! If your willing to put up with some serious digging, No customer service, long lines, and the WORST Christian radio station in the background, then you can find some terrific deals. It does have thrift store feel to it, but decent prices on a lot of stuff. If you are buying food or pet food be sure to check the expiration date. I shop at Ben's a couple of times a week but this was my last time as the cashier was scanning my merchandise I notice that one of my items scan less then the price they had priced it for but she void the lesser price and put the higher price I thought that if it scan for that you get it for price they put everything in the computer is that not right last time there. read more

I don't think it's as bad as some of the other yelp reviewers seem to think. I've found something every single trip except maybe once or twice. I try to go at least once a month to make sure I'm not looking through the same stuff. My favorite is when they buy out a Walmart- cheap stuff for even cheaper! The blaring Jesus music is a little much sometimes. It is usually a hot mess in here and if you're able to come any day besides a Friday or Saturday, I highly recommend it. Lines get super long on the weekend. I usually go Tuesdays or Thursdays and never run into a crowd. Check expiration dates for sure. Otherwise, I enjoy this store. read more

Very rude manager, and do not live up to what they say they will do. Bought a desktop PC for $150 after discounts. Cashier said, if anything wrong within seven days, bring it back with receipt, DL, and card I used to purchase with. PC would not connect to internet. (Yes I had it connected with working ethernet) I took it back within two days. Was told by a manager. (after she took PC to back and took 15 minutes to come back) "We do not consider a computer not getting internet as something wrong with it" My response "That is the definition of something wrong with a PC. This is a nice place to snag a deal. You will be required to search for your treasure but they are always worth the search and deeply discounted. Before shopping here you need to understand the deals are offered because they are getting supplies from closing stores which can be from many reasons. Deals so good theres usually a line at opening I shop here almost weekly. The staff is phenomenal, plan to spend some time here. I usually spend 2 hours with my sister in law looking at everything. If you're looking for deals and not afraid to take some time and hunt, then this place is great! Some items are mismarked, but you can bring that to their attention and it will be corrected. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I all to often find the same item marked with different prices. However, for what it is...a BARGAIN store...you won't find much better. I shop here more often than I probably should, and every single time I find a great (sometimes amazing) deal! I will never shop the jeffesonville location again. Esmeralda is the rudest person I have ever encountered in my life. She was completely rude and it is very sad when my 5 yr old son leaves crying asking why she treated us this way. I had 3 items with out a tag that were in a bin. She makes up a price instead of doing a price check and I told her that isn't right, you just made that price up. She responded and said well im the manager, my job is to make up the prices. Really? Is this how the store works. The manager can make up any price she wants without a price check. What kind of policy is that? I've never been in a store where this happens. Ben's used to have some fabulous finds buts lately all they seem to have are salvage buyouts from Walmart stores. This doesn't interest me. First, I don't shop at Walmart and second, isn't Walmart stuff cheap enough already? Add to that the constantly blaring Christian music, the long waits for check out, the well-scrambled nature of the shelves, and usually outdated food and this place gives me the creeps.
