I took my two toddler sons to the Bent Pole for haircuts this morning. There was a female working, I believe her name was Shiela. She did a wonderful job, and was very accommodating to my kids. I badly needed a haircut today and, although I'd never been there, it was time to finally visit the Bent Pole barber shop. This shop with its iconic bent barber pole out front has been in the same location for 50 years or so. It's easy to find, right there on US-1 in Titusville facing the Indian River and the Kennedy Space Center. I didn't catch his name, but the tall white dude with long blond 1970's rock star hair did a very nice job with a scissor cut. He has great hands didn't talk much while he worked. It was relaxing...until the end. As he was winding up he started talking politics and said there were "conspiracies" everywhere. Usually I walk away from those announcements and he had a straight razor in his hand. Earlier, the noon WESH TV newscast led with the story that 30% of everyone tested for Covid yesterday was positive and county officials were pleading with the governor for help; test kits were running out. With that in mind I asked my blond barber if he had been vaccinated and booster'd. He said "No, those shots are dangerous." It was hard to believe that this licensed barber who had his hands on my head, breathing in my face for the previous 30 minutes, was unmasked and not vaccinated. It should be noted that Florida's Governor DeSantis opted the state out of federal guidelines and requirements. For what it's worth I'm 81 and have received the shots. I won't be back to the Bent Pole. read more

I wouldn't even give this place one star!! I took my fiancé to get his hair cut (he has rather short, layered hair) and he wanted to even it out with the front to see how it looked and the lady got an attitude with us and said "I'm not going to cut your hair then cut it more if you want more trimmed off, I'll have to charge you twice." Then proceeded to apologize to the guy, saying she "had a rough week," who she was working on instead of my fiancé who wasn't rude to her whatsoever. Terrible customer service, especially when we were new customers. Never going back. read more
