Went to Bentley's tavern to celebrate my brothers birthday. They have a great deal, free chicken wings, the number is based on your age. You also get a free drink. They have a wide range of flavors. Really like the general tso, blue heat, stinging honey. The service was great. We started with twenty and kept adding 5 at times, they were patient and always got the food without much delay. The quesadilla was also really good. Quite cheesy. The baha chicken enchilada soup was really creamy and thick with a nice mix of veggies and cheese. Its a small bowl but was quite filling. We didn't find desserts on the menu but they do have a couple of items. Nothing too fancy. read more

I let her know I was calling from Hawaii and that my family was dining with you to celebrate my mom's birthday. Probably one of the three best wing joints in the Saratoga Springs area...along w Trotters and Dozers. Most places around here can't seem to figure out how to do a simple Buffalo wing (usually they are like rubber..). It's definitely a townie joint.. but the beer is reasonable (for this region...which is normally quite classic Albany/Saratoga price bloat. Definitely a cozy spot in the shadow of Malta and Global Foundries... close to the hotels as well. Stick to the classic Buffalo wing tho.. the cajun was more salt than cajun spics. Got two types of bone in wings delivered and both were the most over cooked wings I've ever had. Literally the meat on the garlic Parmesan wings was comparable to dry rub jerky...As you can see the meat shriveled to the bone. Note worthy I did not request them crispy or extra crispy and can't fathom anyone enjoying these being cooked anymore than they already come. 2/10. So incredibly dry. The Baja chicken enchilada soup was great though! I'll only be ordering that from now on or maybe I'll just soak tree bark in hot sauce. TBD Mac and cheese was bland also over cooked pasta shells. As a rule of human nature, you tend to remember what you don't like - or what displeased you - more than what pleased you, and that is the case here. Not my first time at Bentleys by any means, but today's visit left a bad taste in my mouth as I've recently become hypersensitive to the games that are played by establishments with bar drink pricing: My companion and I each ordered gin and tonics along with food. When the tab arrived, I noticed a "$2tall" and $4.00 underneath the drink prices. I summoned the waitress to explain what this was all about, and she said we ordered "tall gin and tonics". No, we DIDN'T. With a straight face, she continued to explain that she had asked us if we wanted a "tall" drink, and that we had assented. No such conversation took place, and I made it clear that we weren't paying for something we didn't ask for; she corrected the tab and we paid it and left, but I regret not dinging her in turn for being deceptive, if not outright lying to us. I hope this isn't a trend - tacking on curious and questionable charges for drinks instead of just upfront, transparent pricing. Take note, Bentleys. On a higher note, the food service was fast, and the food itself beyond reproach, as far as bar food is concerned. read more

We heard about free wings on your birthday. Went there for the first time. There was a grocery list of rules on this "promotion" on how many wings you could order at a time, cannot take home any leftover wings (unless you pay extra!!??) order only 20 at a time, etc. Ridiculous restrictions ruined what should have been a good birthday experience. This has been a frequent stop for us over the years and we have been there two times in the past week.. Each time has been wonderful. Last week, we ate there after the Victorian Streetwalk in Saratoga. My niece has celiac so we have to be super careful about GF. They were able to give her a GF bun for her burger and were careful about her side salad without croutons. My husband has a burger and I had the French onion soup. All of our food was amazing and the service was wonderful. We stopped last evening for a quick bite and the same level of service was to be had. It's been about 15 months since I was here last. We arrived on a Monday night at 6PM and the place was packed around the bar and on the right side. We had a small table in the left side room which was nearly empty and quiet... both surprising and nice at the same time. Sadly, that changed, as first a group of 18 showed up to celebrate a birthday party (Bentley's does free wings on birthdays). It got real loud, real fast, and we struggled to hear each other. Then, the waitstaff set up ANOTHER birthday party of 16 which essentially boxed in our table and the one remaining table. Frankly, our conversation couldn't compete with the noise 30+ people shouting up and down the tables. Aside from that, the wings were fine. I ordered the garlic parm. which were very greasy but otherwise tasty. The plate had a pool of grease which was kind of gross to look at but the wings were decent. Some were crispy, some were a bit flabby, all were large and most were juicy. My friend tried ordered different flavors that looked good. His had sweet sauces and they looked very over-sauced (like our previous review). I tried one and it was okay. I also had a small order of their weekly special flavor, "peanut butter and jelly wings". I'm a PB fanatic and unlikely to see it anywhere else so I thought why not. Well, I'm here to tell you why not: thick globs of hot peanut butter coated the wings, your fingers, your mouth, etc. A thin jelly drizzle didn't cut through the PB, and piles of the nut butter were left on the plate. Had they been executed better with a thin coating of PB and then some more jelly, they would have been interesting. But, at least I can cross that box off of my culinary bucket list. (But I might need to keep that bucket handy) The staff were friendly and attentive... at least until the two large parties showed up. Then, they naturally were pretty well swamped with the other groups. It isn't a bad place per se. We have pretty much focused on their wings and they are decent but not great. Their sauces are either very thick and sweet (without much heat), very thin and greasy, or too peanut-buttery (which I didn't know was possible), I am running out of flavors to try. If we come back, I will ask them to lightly sauce their wings. read more

We came here for the first time on a whim for something to eat around 4 in the afternoon. Service was excellent, food was excellent and atmosphere was nice, clean vibes. We sat outside and was surprised how quickly our food came out. The pretzel sticks and queso dip were better than another well known local restaurant we hit on the regular. Their French fries were on point and so was the Rueben I got. My son got the bacon mac and cheese and it was perfectly creamy, with real bacon crumbled into it. I also like the fact that they used shells and was 100% homemade. What's better is that everything was a great price with nice plentiful servings. We will definitely be returning soon. It's so rare that I give this poor of a review, but in this case, there was nothing good about my experience. I took a seat at the bar. I'm in town for a work trip, so I was alone. The place was busy and only 1 seat left at the bar. It took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge me. They were busy, but the 2 bartenders were not really busy, more just talking. I ordered a water. I don't drink anymore and it feels like they were annoyed that I didn't have an alcoholic beverage. Maybe my bill would be lower. The male bartender got my water and then left. After a few minutes I flagged down the female bartender and placed an order. I asked about the wings as it looks like they sell a ton of them. They do have this really cool birthday promo that you get free wings on your birthday. So if you're 40, you get 40 free wings. I ordered some Cajun wings and a pulled pork quesadilla with extra cheese. She said the wings were great and good size. The wings came out... as you can see by the pic, they are tiny. And extremely dry. Not dry from the dry rub, but just dry. Wings should be juicy. So time passes... the 2 guys near me get their wing app and then get their food. Still no quesadilla. After about 10 more minutes my quesadilla comes out. It's cold. So much for extra cheese. So many other quesadillas came out before that were fat and full of food. Mine? Cold and thin... no extra cheese. I ate half of it and asked for the check. The female bartender asked how my food was. I said just ok. No response! No... oh sorry what happened!? They would have known I was unhappy if they showed me any attention. I 5hink this is one of those places that if you're not a regular, you don't get attention. That's totally what it felt like. Ya know, I've been here before and they have good food and the place has great ambiance with people having fun, music playing, sports on the TV's, a great bar scene-then they put our party in the back room. Idiots. The back room has large doors that can be closed for private parties that for some reason are open during the day- a nice, big and bright room, southern exposure- beautiful. But hey, let's close them at night so we can cut people off from the bar and regular dining room. Seriously how stupid is the manager in this place to do this? It's dull, muted, separate. I feel like I'm in a "time out" back here. Rearrange the tables in the room and open the damn doors and if you can't manage something that easy, don't you EVER seat my party back here again. read more

Horrible experience last night. Joined the waitlist before we arrived. Said to arrive at 5:45pm, which we did. the hostess said that a table should be ready in 10 minutes. She motioned to a table of 5 and said they had their check. Cool... we hit the bar. About 10 minutes later the table leaves. We chill and wait for the call. Nothing. The table is cleaned and set. Still nothing. About 15 minutes later (25 min after arrival). I check. "It will be about 5 more minutes. The table has their check". Ok maybe I saw the wrong able? Besides it was a table for 4 with a chair at the end. She is probably going to put us at a lather table. Back to enjoying my cocktail. 10 minutes later we are sat at the very same 4 top that has been open and ready for now 25 minutes. Ok, whatever. We are famished.. let's order. We see a waitress. She says I'll be with you in a minute as she flies past our table. 15 minutes later. We do not see her anywhere in the restaurant. She comes back to the room. Goes to a couple different tables. Leaves again. Thought I left my invisible cloak at home. I'm getting irritated. Just get is a drink and we are good. Comes back in, goes to a couple tables. She almost walked out again but we lock eyes. She comes to the table. What can I get you to drink? We tell her. I say "we are ready to order". She says "I'm not" and walks away. We are all speechless. We could believe our ears! Listen, we have worked in the service industry for many many years. There are 100 ways to tell a customer that you are busy, the kitchen is a little behind, whatever the case is. That was not it. I wanted to leave. We decided to stay because now we are about an hour In. After taking our drink order we notice a larger table open up and ask to move tables. The hostess say sure. They clean the table and we move to the next table over. She drops our drinks off and leaves again. Still no food order. She finally arrives about 20 minutes later to take our order. By now we are fuming. Here is the crazy part. She comes up to the table and asks us if we are ready like she doesn't recognize us at all. My husband responds "yes, we were ready 15 minutes ago when we were at that table" motioning to the next table over. At this point I am beyond done. At this point we are all upset. She is mad. I decide not to eat and let the rest of the table order. I speak to the manager. She listens but I am not sure she is truly empathetic to my complaint about our experience. She said she will see what she can do. She leaves. The food comes out, brought by new waitress. This waitress was lovely. Attentive. Apologetic. The only light at the end of this tunnel. She says that the manager took off the wings from our check. My family eats. They all enjoy their meals. It's a real shame that you have servers that have the potential of ruining your business. That server has no place speaking with patrons. She has no warmth. No proper communication style. I am not sure if I will be back. I hate to judge a place on one bad encounter, especially since I have had great experiences before, but my family's holiday sitting was ruined. The wings were a nice jesters but honestly it doesn't cut it. We were there an HOUR at our table before we ordered or food. We were ready to place our order within 5 minute of sitting down. That's insane. That's after waiting a half hour to sit at the table. I think you will find that most people will have no problem waiting if you communicate in a proper way. Went for a friends birthday for her birthday wings. The server was rude and not even welcoming. The wings barely had flavor. Birthday girl got one drink and the server was convincing her to get the 2nd one on them. Other gf ordered a cocktail that was on the specials, I ordered a whispering Angel rose wine. The bill came and the gratuity was added in. The 2nd drink of the birthday girl was not free, it was 14.50 for a cider. My rose wine was 21.50 for a glass of wine!!! I said there must be some sort of mistake, the server says no that's how much it is. I said well that's ridiculous for a glass of wine and she says well did you enjoy it? In a very rude manner. The food gave us all stomach aches and the 3 of us are all sick today. Will never return here. I enjoyed Rusty Nail two weeks ago for my birthday. The wings and service was excellent. Not at Bentley's though. I am very disappointed. This goes to show nothing in life is free, therefor that's why they do not have a price list on their cocktails, wines or beers. Disappointing. Especially since with just a little improvement could be really good. I'll start with the positives. Goof location short distance from highest, nice spacious pub with decent atmosphere clean and looks nice. Burger and sandwich had at 10 pm were good, as were the fries. Waitress was nice attentive. Now for what dragged the review down. Hostess/waitress that seated us was miserable sour pushed. When asked not to sit at high top table but rather a few feet away at regular table as if asked fir her first born and at that hour it was not crowded. She also never assigned us to a waitress and so we had flag ine dien after about 10 minutes. The Nachos were awful. Cold with some liquid cheese sauce and a dollop of salsa splashed on them. Drinks were eh. And way over priced. So not awful and open late but has potential to be su much more. read more
