I needed some custom redwood strips to match existing exterior. Staff was on it and precise. Love this company.

I've bought from Berco before and the wood was decent but they do stick some junk lumber in the pile. This time I received several cracked boards and a couple that were pretty chopped up. My husband was there so I sent him a pic and asked them to replace the board and they said we had to Bering it back. Now mind you, I didn't complain about all the cracked boards or the chewed up wood rail because I could flip it and it wouldn't be too noticeable, but the fence board was just garbage and even though I sent the picture they refused to replace it. I had found it after my husband had left so he would have to drive all the way back home and all the way back out there and then home again. The board was $5.50 so nothing to break the bank but their customer service was bad AND they sold me a piece of crap. Soooo disappointing. My advice would be to check every piece you buy from BERCO because they WILL sell you crap wood mixed in with the good one. I'm giving them 1 star based on customer service read more

First visit here. Picked up 6 2x4x8 and 30 redwood 1x6x6 pickets. Was nervous because normally I get my wood at Home Depot and 1 out of every 10 boards you look through is actually straight. But here you give them a loading ticket and they retrieve wood for you. Every single board they gave me here at Berco was a great board. Nice and straight. Not filled with big knots everywhere. Came back a couple days later. Same order. Same situation. Every piece was a perfect piece of wood. Not only that but the price is cheaper than Home Depot and Lowes. And they square their lumber. Incredibly pleased. Can't believe I didn't get my lumber here before. read more

Berco Redwood is a great lumber yard in Sacramento. They were able to get me certain pieces of redwood that I was not able to get from the big box home improvement stores. Nate aka Chino in the front desk is very knowledgeable and will work with you to get the best value out of what you need from their wood supplies. Next time I am redecking I may also use Berco to get composite decking as they have a wide supply of Trex and other composite boards. Hands down the worst lumber yard in Sacramento. The lumber is junk! They love to blow smoke up your rear end and tell you how great their lumber is. Truth be told Home Depots redwood is alot better than the junk they peddle here. Looked at a product, bought it and they brought out something different. They sent me down the road with 25% bad boards. I don't mean a little bad, I mean firewood. When asked to exchange the tell you to kick rocks. Glad I'm keeping my 250k a year lumber account at a different supplier. I'm not really into buying a red wood product but I'd have to say that this place will have anything you need that has a red wood. If they will not they can make it for you. However it is going to be a little bit expensive. One time I came here to look for a siding and no one had it because it was too old. When I showed to a guy that was working behind the counter, he said that they don't have it and no one else has it except them. I asked if they have it in stock. He said that they can only make it and it would cost 11.00 dollars per square foot. Pretty expensive. The yard looks clean and all workers are very helpful. When you will purchase something, they will give you a yard ticket. After that you will have to go outside to look for one of the yard workers. They will bring it to you and load you up if needed. Great business great people. You will be satisfied. read more

So we've always used Berco for all our home projects, this time I thought I'd save time and have them cut the redwood to specific lengths to save time building our raised planters. Really simple cuts needed (32) 2x6 cut at 8', (32) 2x6 cut at 4' and (16) 4x4 cut at 22".....really simple right? They said it would cost $25 to cut, I thought wow that would save time. Checked a couple of the cuts when I picked up the load and it looked good.. We went to assemble it all into 4 planters, unloaded, laid out and started assembling when we realized that the measurements were off on over 1/2 if the lumber, some being 3/4" too long and some being 3/4 to short. Called them up and they did apologize and said if we brought it back to them they'd make it right. But what a pain!! I instead rolled out 500' of extension cords to our way back and recut all the wood to lengths that would work..... In hindsight.....cut the wood yourself read more

We have had the best experience this past year with Berco Redwood. First, they delivered all the supplies we needed to rebuild our redwood deck. Their lead time was not too far out in the middle of COVID quarantine, and and the quality of the redwood was great. We moved recently, and the fence was falling over so I went to Berco's website to see about fencing. There was a link to get a quote for materials and installation, and I got a call that same day from Bob from Accurate Fencing (Berco's installer). I had been looking for the picture frame style of fencing for its attractiveness and privacy, but Bob explained that the style of fencing he did was board on board with metal posts that had the same look but was more solid. His quote was competitive with the two other quotes I got, and his lead time was much less than the other two quotes. He was communicative and reliable. His crew of two fence builders took a day longer than we anticipated, but the fence was built solidly and is beautiful! You can't go wrong with Berco Redwood and Accurate Fence! read more

Update: Chris from Berco contacted me to make things right and personally delivered a higher-quality piece of wood to get things back on track. Previously: I don't know who Berco Redwood's customers are supposed to be, but based on my experience I can confidently say that it is not for DIY homeowners. The Yelp comments about "20% bad wood" should have been a red-flag. I made the mistake of trusting that Berco would match their high-end pricing with high-end quality. My small order of 12-ft 2x10s had to go through many steps to get to me. And at each step in the process it would have only taken a single person to say "that wood is rotten in the middle - remove it". But no-one did and that is the wood I was left with to complete my project in the limited window of time I had. read more

If you need lumber, dont go to any of the big box stores. Go to Berco. They have high quality lumber at prices very close or better than the big guys. Plus, they deliver. Ive noticed that the big national chain hardware stores lumber selections get increasingly worse every year. Is it because their suppliers stink or because they get too many customers and are always picked over? For this reason, I looked at local lumber yards when it came time to build a new run of fence. Berco came out on top. First, props to Berco for having up to date pricing on their website. They have an easy and fast online quote system. Their prices were great. Compared to the big box place: Just five cents more per six inch redwood fence board (and quality wood), 8 dollars less per steel post, even on PT rails, 30 cents less per concrete bag, almost right on for rails and fasteners. Overall, i saved money, even with delivery. The quality of the wood was outstanding. For 170 boards, i only had 6 that were bad. At the big boz place, i had to spend about 40 minutes sorting through their stacks of boards to find 25 decent ones. Berco rocks. For rails, the big box place had warped or bowed pieces everywhere. All of bercos were straight and pretty true. I couldn't be happier with my choice to go with Berco. Hours of sorting through wood and going back and forth to transport loads back and forth from the big box place to home were saved. Money was saved. Do yourself a favor and look to Berco for your lumber needs. read more

I had a terrible experience, having several years working for a professional fence company. I ordered the premium narrow fence boards that are advertised as same quality as regular width boards for a fraction of the cost, well more than a 1/4 of the boards I was given were unusable. When I went to Berco to exchange the boards that were broken or split, the salesperson gave me grief over the condition of the boards, and reluctantly "let" me exchange the boards. After waiting an hour for new boards, the ones that came out were slightly better and still had broken boards that were visibly damaged while on the fork lift. The crew that loaded them, told me if I wanted nicer boards I should have spent more money for the nicer boards. They continued to load all the boards in my truck and then left. Not only did I lose money on this job because of having to waste 1/2 of my day driving back to Berco just to be hassled and then told I should have spent more money for nicer boards. Don't advertise that the premium narrow boards are same quality as regular width boards when they are not, then tell me to spend more money for better boards. I will never use Berco again, and I will never recommend Berco to anyone else including clients. This company had terrible customer service and there wood is terrible. I will continue to purchase wood from Home Depot because I can't count on Berco delivering high quality products or service read more
