A FREE museum about the Norwegian Military, with a big emphasis on Norwegian Resistance during Nazi Occupation. Not a whole lot of artifacts, but definitely a whole lot of facts. Lots and lots of facts. If you're a history tourist nerd like me you'll enjoy this. If you're a lets-go-shopping-and-then-get-drunk tourist you probably won't like this. We got a warm greeting from the staff and offered free coffee and tea...very nice! Especially since coffee and tea run about $3-5 cup in Norway.

Fantastic and worth the ticket price. If you purchase the tower you get in to the hall for half…read moreprice. And, free if you have the Bergen card whicn we decided to purchase. It's worth it if you plan to visit more than a couple museums and other like attractions while in Bergen. We visited nearly ten in one day and plan to keep going tomorrow. Using the hop on hop off bus makes it easy to get around in addition to walking this beautiful city. One observation as we have been traveling across Norway and visiting many museums is it is hard to read many of the plaques, not due to language barrier - because most have English translations - but the lack of light. Part of this is due to my aging eyes but truly there just isn't enough attention given to illuminating signage. You can make it work with your phone light or just looking harder but it's hard to focus. Minor pet peeve for an otherwise great experience. The tower in particular has seven levels starting with a dungeon which you really get a feel for what it would have been like as a prisoner - just from standing in near darkness beneath the tower for a few minutes. Some prisoners were kept there for over a year. Amazing. Great experience and wonderful history. Worth it!

This tower and former residence is quite interesting and there is extensive historical information…read moreon the upper level and good views of the town and harbor. It is very sparse inside without furniture but this lets you see the architecture. Don't miss the King's toilet room off the side of the King's room.
