Spinach Chicken, rice dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a roll of

If I wanted instant mashed potatoes, store bought gravy, and a Marie calendar yeast roll, I would've went to the Walmart deli (And paid half the price). A chef cannot be present while this food is being made. The Marie calendar yeast roll didn't even have butter on it. These are definitely not fresh ingredients being used in these dishes either. I had the stringiest broccoli in my rice dressing that tasted like it came from a microwaveable freezer bag. Do better Chef Bergeron, please.

The food is good, I don't eat tarter or cocktail sauce and asked for ranch to go along with my fish and was denied even offered to purchase a small cup. You sell salads and have ranch available but not to go with your entree plates? Don't quite understand. Will not return. I paid $12 and the portion ratio for the stew was horrible Edit: had she mentioned that you didn't offer ranch at all then there wouldn't be an issue. As an owner your last remark was unnecessary; speaks a lot about your character I pray for "special individuals" like you. The tone of your ending remark and the response of your staff proves my point. The review isn't about your food as I complemented it was good; it was about your employee and portion size. Yet you as an owner chose to speak about my review ratio instead of speaking with your staff about responses? Typical! Awwww I'm glad you're still checking up on me!! Point still proven!

White chicken lasagna/ sensation salad/ mash

This was my first time dining in for lunch with a friend. Bergeron's has daily lunch options, and its cafeteria/ cafe style where you go to the front and get your food, then pay. My friend ordered the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, and string beans. I ordered the white chicken lasagna, mashed potatoes, and sensation salad. The staff members were all super friendly and provided quick service. The hamburger steak reminded me a lot of the Salisbury steak for school lunch, which brought back so many memories. The white chicken lasagna was sooo good! Instead of traditional red sauce, it was made with a white sauce and had cubes of chicken in between. It was super cheesy and I enjoyed it a lot! The mashed potatoes and gravy were okay. I was not a huge fan of the gravy since it tasted a bit nutty. The sensation salad was amazing - I wish I got double salad instead of choosing the mash. I'd definitely come back to Bergeron's. It's a great place for soul/ comfort food.

So I came here before for lunch and I wanted Fried chicken. When I got here there was no friend chicken. There was chicken Parmesan so I opted for that. Boy oh boy was I in for a treat. This was the best chicken Parmesan I have had. It was a large potion and the sauce was sweet just like I like it It helps that the ppl are nice to. I am a regular now!

I've had food from Bergeron's several times from work luncheons and decided to send my husband to grab some premade items one night for dinner just because my toddler makes me exhausted and who likes to do dishes?! They also offer hot ready made items if you wanted to sit down and eat. Everything had labeled instructions and it was all very tasty! The prices are slightly higher than I would like for something that's cold and technically I have to cook it... but I guess that's the cost of a clean kitchen. I haven't had a bad meal with them and wouldn't hesitate to cater with them if I ever have a house big enough to host a party.

A few wines to choose from

I've been driving past this place for a number of weeks now and finally got a chance to drop in. I've been intrigued by it because it is the site of several failed restaurants over the years and one begins to think that some of these places are "cursed" - even though I don't really believe in that! But from the moment they started remodeling this place - just the exterior of the building itself was something that suggested that maybe - just maybe - someone was going to figure out what the magic formula was for making this location work. Stepping inside you enter a kind of deli area with prepared foods - both individual selections (a salad, a selection of olives, etc) as well as prepared plates with several items, along with a limited selection of wines, and sauces/condiments and other sorts of specialty items you might find in a marketplace. Not a huge selection - but a good one and well presented. Once you get past there you enter the main dining area where you have larger salad choices - already prepared in a kind of eat in/take away format. On the serving line they have a rotating daily menu that is limited - but with good options. Today it was a choice between a beef lasagna, and a Zapp's crusted chicken and a turkey burger as a "healthy" option. And then there were some sides - field peas, steamed broccoli, cabbage and greens, jasmine rice pilaf, etc. I chose the Zapp's Crusted Chicken, with tiny field peas and carrot soufflé on the side - and a wheat roll thrown in at the end. The chicken was a generously sized portion and had a kind of chicken parmigiana sort of look and taste to it. Personally - I like the idea of a Zapp's crusted chicken - but wish they had chosen from among the other varieties of flavors that Zapp's has to offer. As it is, they seem to have chosen the basic, most bland flavor Zapp's has. The other things was that the chicken tasted a little dry to me. Again, it was good, but a little more moist, with say a Cajun Crawtator chip crust would have kicked it up into another level of good. The field peas were good - solid. The carrot soufflé was a nice option as well. I've had other versions of this which were sweeter - too sweet. This one was a nice balance and so came across as a cross between a vegetable and a fruit - in terms of flavor. In short, I thought it was just right. The other thing that was just right was the price - $11 for the main, two sides and a roll (no drink). The interior was clean and simple, open and bright. Nothing fancy - sort of an industrial chic. I would have thought the parallel surfaces would have made for a noisier place with terrible acoustics. But it didn't. Will definitely come back. If Yelp! Allowed half stars I would honestly give them a 3.5, but I'll err on the side of generosity for the new kid in town!

Bergerons had prepared food for friend's family members that passed away suddenly. Mrs. Rosalyn was so amazing in helping me coordinate hot meals for the family and they absolutely loved it and it hit the job. It was beef stew, mash potatoes and gravy, and green beans. Thank you so much to Don Bergerons crew that help make this happen and was so special.

Spaghetti and meatballs with peas mixed in

This place is a must try. It is completely worthy of 5 stars, and as you know, I don't give 5 stars easily. The food features a different spin on every day classics, and a lot of local treats that you probably have never eaten before. All of the dishes come from the creative mind of Chef Don Bergeron. I have been eating at City Market since it was in Mid-City; that's 10 yards if good eats!!!! My favorite is the spaghetti and meatballs!! However, when the chef decides to do it, the New Orleans Jambalaya is the only one that compares to when I grew up in NOLA. There are plenty of daily dishes and sides to choose from, and there is always desert. There is no side that compares to the Purple Island Rice! Please stop in and check it out- you can't beat the food, service, and price. The uniqueness of this place sets it apart. FYI: They only do brunch on Saturday, and they close at 2:00 PM.

I came here for brunch today. It's a such a cute place with lots of Southern charm! I love the decor and setup of cafe. The customer service was awesome and the food was very tasty. There's a store in front, where they sell wine and accessories, heat 'n eat soups and meals in which they prepare, as well as an assortment of salads and desserts. The cafe is the the back of building, and is buffet style where you order from line. I had the Brie and asparagus quiche, with baked tomato and spinach Madeline. It was delicious! The only reason I'm give four stars instead of five, is because the menu was very limited as I wish there were more options. Overall, I had a lovely experience.

    Portobello and Spinach Quesadilla

Great place for a quick lunch with co-workers. We were immediately greeted by a manager or owner when we walked in and explained how the layout worked. The front area is a deli/grab & go market, and the back is a cafeteria style line with a seating area. The workers are super friendly and patient even when they're really busy. Sign up for their email list to know what's on the menu for the day. I went when they served a portobello and spinach queadailla. It was really flavorful and healthy tasting. The mango salsa on the side was great as well. We were able to eat, enjoy ourselves, and make it back to our office withing an hour. The only negative is they could use more seating or maybe an outside seating area. Overall, we will definitely be back for future lunches.

$9 Beef Enchilada plate (Corn and Greens)
    Jason J.

90% of the time the food is great. Every now and then the food is rushed and uncooked (vegetables & sides). The ladies who fix the plates are really nice and helpful but Chef Don needs to change his attitude. His personality is never inviting and it's a turnoff. I like the food but I will take my money somewhere else if this cont.

She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
